Chapter 203: Want Me to Feed You?

After exchanging a few words with Melissa, Rachel exited the video call. She found Thomas Sterling’s number in the man’s contacts and dialed it.

The call connected.

There was silence on the other end.

"Thomas, it’s me."

Thomas Sterling was startled to hear Rachel’s voice. "Rachel, are you okay!?"

Rachel said, "I’m fine. Tristan Sterling took me. My phone was smashed, so I couldn’t make any calls."

Thomas Sterling wasn’t surprised to hear this. They had already guessed as much.

"My cousin won’t let you leave now?"

Rachel affirmed, "He’s making me stay here until it’s time to return to the country."

"So where are you two staying now?"

Rachel told him the location.

"As long as you’re safe, that’s all that matters. How’s the Professor now?"

He remembered seeing Zion Alden’s obvious hostility toward Julian Jennings at the banquet. A man as vengeful as Zion would never just let things go.

"Zion Alden actually came looking for him here today. To be honest, you’re relatively safer with my cousin right now."

Rachel’s heart leaped into her throat. "What did he come here to do?"

"Just to make threats. All bluster."

Rachel frowned. "Zion Alden is definitely not the type to just bluster. Thomas, if you and the Professor are okay, maybe you should head back to the country first!"

’After all, this is New York, not our home country.’

The words had barely left her lips.

Suddenly, a man’s deep voice sounded from behind her. "Done with your call?"

Rachel jumped, turning to look at the man who had entered the room.

Tristan Sterling strode up to her and snatched the phone from Rachel’s hand. He glanced at the caller ID, then put the phone to his ear, his voice stern. "Thomas, I’ll say this one more time. If you have no business here, then go back to the country."

Thomas Sterling said nothing on the other end.

Tristan Sterling hung up, his eyes lowering to Rachel. He reminded her, "You and Thomas are friends. There should be a boundary between friends."

"Tristan Sterling, don’t project your own sordid thoughts onto other people."

"Did you or did you not sleep with Zion Alden?" the man suddenly asked.

Rachel’s pupils constricted. "What do you mean by that?"

"Did you, or did you not?" The man’s tone hardened, his gaze boring into her as if to see right through her soul. In his eyes, it seemed, she was nothing more than a cheap woman who couldn’t be brought out in public.

A wave of humiliation washed over Rachel. She scoffed. "What if I did? And what if I didn’t? Tristan Sterling, is that any of your business?"

Tristan Sterling’s dark eyes bore into her. In a low, warning tone, he said, "Don’t think you can flirt with any man you please just because you have this face now. You’d better take a good look at what you’re actually worth."

Rachel glared daggers at him.

The man turned and strode out of the bedroom.

Watching his retreating back, Rachel felt her breathing become labored.

「The next day.」

Rachel felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. When she went to the bathroom, she saw that her period had started, just as she’d suspected.

She spent the entire day lying in bed.

When Tristan Sterling returned,

He asked a maid, "Where is she?"

"Miss Evelynn got her period. She’s not feeling well, so she’s been resting in bed all day. She hasn’t eaten a thing."

Tristan Sterling entered Rachel’s room to find her curled up on the bed, her brows knitted tightly and her face exceptionally pale.

He had a maid call for a doctor to make a house call.

「Half an hour later.」

The doctor who arrived was a female Chinese attending gynecologist.

Having been briefed on the situation beforehand, the doctor had brought medication with her.

Rachel lay listlessly on the bed, allowing the doctor to examine her. The doctor gave her an injection.

After the doctor left the room,

Tristan Sterling was in the living room handling business. When he saw the doctor come out, he asked, "How is she?"

’He remembered seeing her in the hospital before, around this same time. It seemed she’d been hospitalized for her period then, too.’

"Her menstrual cramps are quite severe, so I gave her a painkiller injection. If the pain is still this bad tomorrow, it would be best to have her hospitalized. For now, it’s especially important that she maintain a good mood and be mindful of her diet."

The doctor added a few more reminders before leaving the villa.

A maid prepared some brown sugar bird’s nest soup and was about to bring it to Rachel’s room when...

"I’ll take it."

Tristan Sterling carried the bowl into Rachel’s room. Because of the injection, her stomach wasn’t hurting as badly, but she still didn’t feel like moving.

When she saw him enter, she turned her head to the side.

Tristan Sterling walked to the edge of the bed and sat down. He looked at her and said, "Get up and eat something."

Rachel didn’t answer.

Then she heard the man ask, "Want me to feed you?"

Rachel turned her head to look at him, her voice weak but irritated. "I don’t want to eat."

Tristan Sterling put the bowl on the nightstand, then pulled back the woman’s blanket. He reached over, lifted her into a sitting position, and used his other hand to tuck a pillow behind her lower back.

Rachel wanted to push him away, but she simply didn’t have the strength to fight with him.

When she saw him pick up the bowl, she said quickly, "I can do it myself."

Tristan Sterling handed her the bowl.

Rachel took it. Seeing he had no intention of leaving, she couldn’t be bothered to say anything. She simply picked up the spoon and took a sip.

Tristan Sterling sat on the edge of the bed, watching her eat.

Neither of them spoke. The air was still, and the atmosphere was uncharacteristically peaceful.

When Rachel finished, Tristan Sterling took the bowl from her. "If you still feel unwell tomorrow, we’re going to the hospital."

He stood up and left the room.

「The following day.」

Tristan Sterling didn’t leave right away. When he came downstairs to the dining room, he saw Rachel. She was clearly doing much better than the day before, though her face was still pale. He asked, "How are you feeling?"

Rachel sipped her congee. "There’s no need for the hospital. I’m much better."

Tristan Sterling said no more and took his seat at the head of the table.

Although neither of them spoke again,

the atmosphere was remarkably peaceful.

You could say it was the first time the two had ever eaten breakfast together so peacefully.

After a long moment,

Rachel finally broke the silence. "I need to handle my company’s affairs myself."

Tristan Sterling looked up at her. "Whatever files you need, I’ll have them sent over."

’Clearly, he still wasn’t going to let her leave.’

Rachel’s fingers tightened. Unwilling to argue with him, she said, "Then at least let me contact the outside world!"

"I’ll have someone bring you a new phone."

Rachel said nothing more.

After breakfast, Tristan Sterling left.

’I wonder how Thomas Sterling and Julian Jennings are doing.’

Thinking about the two of them made Rachel deeply uneasy.

「That afternoon.」

David arrived at the villa. Seeing Rachel’s pale face, he asked anxiously, "Evelynn, did Tristan Sterling give you a hard time?"

"I’m fine. David, what are you doing here?" Rachel asked.

"I came to see you."

When you and Tristan Sterling disappeared that night, I knew he had taken you.

David added indignantly, "That Tristan Sterling is a real piece of work."

Rachel asked, "Why do you say that?"

David quickly explained what happened.

It turned out that Tristan Sterling was the one who told David’s fiancée to show up at the banquet. On top of that, over the past two days, his father had suddenly started making moves to finalize his arranged marriage and engagement.

Tristan Sterling was definitely pulling the strings.

He was enjoying his freedom and had absolutely no plans to get married yet.

Of course, he knew he could never truly have Evelynn, but he figured dating her for a while would be nice.

Otherwise, he’d never be able to accept it.

After all, he’d never struck out with a woman before.

Rachel smiled. "That Miss Eleanor seemed very nice to me. And honestly, David, I think you two are a great match."

David looked at her, a wounded expression on his face. "Even if you don’t like me, Evelynn, you don’t have to say such things to break my heart!"

Rachel’s expression was serious. "I mean it."

David sighed. "Fine, fine, I get it."

Rachel smiled, then an idea struck her. "David, let me see your phone for a second."

"What for?"

"Just give it to me."

David didn’t press the issue and handed her his phone.

Rachel took the phone and immediately dialed Julian Jennings’ number. The call connected quickly, and Thomas Sterling’s voice came through. "Hello?"

"Thomas? Why are you answering his phone? Where’s the Professor?"

Thomas Sterling hesitated for a moment. "Julian’s at the hospital."

After hanging up,

"David, take me to the hospital. Now."

As she and David were heading out,

A maid saw them and stepped forward. "Miss Royce, you haven’t fully recovered yet. Sir instructed you to get plenty of rest."

Rachel said, "I have to make a trip to the hospital right now."

The maid couldn’t stop her.

She could only watch them leave.

Once they were gone, the maid made a call to Tristan Sterling.
