Chapter 929 Everything Goes Smoothly
Chapter 929 Everything Goes Smoothly
Wang Wan’er smiled, "Go take a look in the fields and you’ll know if there’s anything special!"
"Sure!" Ling Feng got up upon hearing this and headed straight for the patch of plants.
It was not until he got closer that he found although these three types of plants seemed to be of similar height, their actual shapes were quite different.
One kind had ears that looked similar to rice, but were actually much larger than rice ears, even larger than an adult’s palm!
And on it hung grains that were crystal clear and indeed resembled pearls!
Ling Feng knew this must be the Pearl Rice Wang Wan’er was talking about. Feeling it was ripe, he plucked a grain and put it in his mouth.
The fruit melted in his mouth instantly, with a refreshing fragrance, like a burst of milky aroma!
"This Pearl Rice tastes really good. It can be made into fragrant and sweet rice that can fill you up without other dishes, and the most important thing is it has a very short growth cycle!" Wang Wan’er said from behind at this moment.
"Oh, but it doesn’t seem very useful, does it? Our country doesn’t have a food crisis." Ling Feng turned and asked.
"It’s always better than nothing, isn’t it? Anyway, it doesn’t hurt to store some more!" Wang Wan’er responded and walked over to another type of red plant: "This is sugar rice, with a very high sugar content, even higher than the sugarcanes we use to produce sugar now!"
"No way?"
Ling Feng was surprised, picked two grains, and put them in his mouth. After chewing, he immediately widened his eyes, "I’ll be damned, this is cloyingly sweet!"
"Right, this rice also has a high yield. I tried cooking it into rice, and it turned into a pot of syrup!" laughed Wang Wan’er.
"Nice, at least we won’t have to buy candy for the kids in the future!" Ling Feng nodded.
Wang Wan’er covered her mouth and chuckled, then said, "Come and take a look at this protein bean!"
Saying so, she stepped forward to another patch of plants.
These were all vine plants, but they needed nothing for support; their own stems were strong enough. A meter off the ground, several tendrils reached out, loaded with white beans.
Ling Feng didn’t need to ask; he picked one and stuffed it into his mouth but spat it out after one bite, "What’s this taste? It’s like eating raw meat!"
"Yes, it’s all protein, synthesized by the plant itself, impressive, right?" Wang Wan’er smiled.
Ling Feng was speechless, "You mean this thing is meat?"
"Pretty much, it’s like meat when stir-fried, very delicious!" said Wang Wan’er.
"Goodness, did you bring me this food on purpose? I’m impressed!"
Ling Feng shook his head, slightly helpless and looked at Wang Wan’er, "What’s the situation here?"
"I’m not sure, but there’s always a reason for everything, let’s consider it a treasure given by the heavens!" Wang Wan’er said.
"Alright, we’ll just keep planting them. If needed in the future, perhaps it can be promoted!" Ling Feng nodded his head.
"Hmm!" Wang Wan’er smiled and then asked, "Do you want to take a look at the rest of the crops?"
"No need, as long as you take care of them properly, that’s all that matters. With you here, I’m at ease!" Ling Feng said, patting her shoulder.
Wang Wan’er smiled happily, her eyes crescent-shaped, "Alright, then I’ll be your chief food officer from now on!"
"No problem at all!" Ling Feng nodded.
After looking at the plants, he sat down for a chat with Li Shiyun, and then Ling Feng went to the Sixth Heaven.
Although only a few days had passed, quite a few changes had already taken place here.
First, the previously vacant land has been expanded a lot more, now covering an area of over a thousand kilometers.
Then there’s the military ship docked by the shore, which can no longer be seen.
Of course, it’s not that the ship has disappeared, but rather that someone has sailed it out to sea.
After finding An Xue, Ling Feng learnt from her that at that time, Ling Yao had selected fifty soldiers from the military ship who were willing to stay. These people are experienced sailors, capable of teaching the Chasing Dragon Clan how to operate the ships.
Thus, for the past few days, the military ships have been navigating the sea, conducting training.
Having said that, An Xue looked at Ling Feng: "I have basically mastered the Sixth Heaven completely, but strangely, I have not been able to unlock the Seventh Layer, and I don’t know what the problem is!"
"Don’t worry, the six layers we have right now are enough to keep us busy. Have you been so busy fishing lately that you’ve neglected your cultivation?" Ling Feng asked.
An Xue shook her head: "No, I only fish for an hour each day, the rest of the time I’m cultivating. There’s been no delay!"
"That’s good to hear, otherwise, you’d really become my employee!" Ling Feng said wryly.
An Xue also smiled: "Even if you paid me now, I wouldn’t want to work for you!"
Ling Feng scratched his head: "Right, it’s not like your family lacks money!"
Seeing An Xue glaring at him, he quickly added: "Keep cultivating well and try to catch up to Qian Qian and the others. It will benefit you!"
"As for my cultivation level, I’ll leave it to fate. Speaking of my parents, I have a favor to ask of you!" An Xue said.
"No need to be so formal, just tell me!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
"The stuff from the sea is very nutritious and rich in Spiritual Energy, so I want to get some for my parents to improve their health," An Xue said.
"Eh? Don’t we send them stuff regularly?" Ling Feng asked, puzzled.
An Xue shook her head: "I’m talking about my foster parents!"
"Them?"
Ling Feng was surprised but also realized that An Xue had not forgotten the kindness of her foster parents, so he immediately nodded: "Sure, that’s a small matter; you don’t even need to ask me. Take whatever you want back to them!"
"Oh, thank you!"
An Xue beamed a smile, bright as a spring flower.
Ling Feng was somewhat mesmerized and quickly averted his gaze to the sea: "Have Ling Yao and the others gone to the island?"
"Yes, Sister Yaoyao has been inseparable from Little Yu lately. They just took Sasha over there," An Xue said.
"Huh?"
Ling Feng was taken aback: "Why did they take Sasha with them?"
"They said Sasha is physically weak, so they want to help her undergo body tempering! It’s still possible since she’s young," An Xue said.
"You can do that?"
Ling Feng was wide-eyed with astonishment and became a little impatient.
After thinking it over, he grabbed An Xue’s hand: "Let’s go check it out too!"
"Alright, then I’ll leave today’s fishing goal unmet. We have enough stock recently anyway!"
An Xue nodded, and the two of them stepped onto the Teleportation Array.
Upon arriving at the other side, Ling Feng was stunned to see that a brand new pier had been built along the coast. There was a buzz of activity as the Chasing Dragon Clan was busy with construction.
It looked like they were building houses, and Ling Feng curiously asked: "What are those for?"
"Dormitories, factories. From now on, packaging and processing of the seafood will be done here!" An Xue explained.
Then Ling Feng had a moment of realization and smiled: "It’s good that we have these people. Otherwise, just the few of us would never get all this work done!"
