The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 894: Banquet

Chapter 894: Banquet

Seeing Buddha Master again, Ling Feng still felt a strange sensation in his heart.

After all, the dispute he had with his disciple was no small matter, and he did not know what Buddha Master’s purpose was in inviting him here.

But with Master Kong Kong present, he figured nothing untoward would happen.

So, after getting out of the car, Ling Feng approached Buddha Master and Master Kong Kong, "Sorry to have kept you waiting!"

"We haven’t waited too long, Mr. Ling. You must be tired from your journey!" Buddha Master said with a smile.

"Mr. Ling has come from afar, please go ahead and rest in your room," Master Kong Kong suggested.

Ling Feng quickly expressed his thanks, "Thank you, Master!"

Now he was the honored guest, making Li Fei’er and Liya seem somewhat like attendants, which was a bit overwhelming for Ling Feng.

Buddha Master seemed not to recognize Liya, just giving her a glance without offering a greeting, then turned around and led the way into a wooden building.

The spacious hall, with its thick carpet that looked like animal fur, along with the rosewood furniture, had a quaint, vintage feel to it.

Ling Feng was inwardly amazed; everything in the house seemed simple, yet each item was of considerable value—Buddha Master was indeed a wealthy man!

As soon as they were seated, Buddha Master immediately said to Ling Feng, "Mr. Ling, you are our honored guest. I’ve arranged a banquet for tonight, and we can start now!"

"You’ve gone to so much trouble!"

Ling Feng nodded, then saw soldiers in uniform come in, each holding a covered dish.

Since they were covered, he couldn’t see what was within, and out of politeness, he didn’t use his Divine Sense to scan them. After all, he would see them soon enough.

Soon, several dishes were placed on the table in front of him and others. At that moment, Buddha Master smiled and said, "Mr. Ling, please enjoy your meal!"

"Alright!"

Ling Feng nodded and lifted the lid off the dishes.

Upon looking, the first was roasted rabbit, the second a stew, which upon closer inspection, seemed to contain snake!

The third dish turned out to be a fruit platter made of fruits whose names he couldn’t identify.

Ling Feng was taken aback for a moment, then chuckled to himself, "Is this what they call a feast? I could have this at home; it used to be just everyday food!"

Logically, since Buddha Master was hosting him, it should have been a very grand affair, so these dishes seemed to indirectly show that resources here were scarce, even he couldn’t get good food!

With that thought, Ling Feng quietly tasted the food.

The flavor was quite good, it seemed the chefs here were indeed skilled.

Ling Feng was a bit hungry too, so without further ado, he started eating.

Seeing this, Buddha Master nodded in satisfaction, "Mr. Ling truly doesn’t put on airs!"

"What are you talking about? I’m just an ordinary person. Why would I need airs?" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

As he spoke, he glanced over at Master Kong Kong and noticed that his table had only one dish, which contained just fruit, and nothing else!

At that moment, Buddha Master chuckled, "Mr. Ling, now that you’re here, I’ll skip the formalities. You should know what I do for a living, right?"

Ling Feng nodded, "I’ve heard!"

As Buddha Master looked at him expectantly, he continued, "It is said that you deal in drugs and arms, correct?"

"Mm-hmm."

Buddha Master nodded, then smiled again, "But that was all a year ago. I’ve changed professions now!"

"Oh?"

Ling Feng was surprised and curiously asked, "What have you switched to doing now?"

"Timber, fruits, medicinal herbs, tourism development, and even mineral resources—we dabble in everything!" said Buddha Master with a laugh.

Ling Feng was taken aback and thought to himself, what does that mean, going straight and narrow?

Seemingly discerning his thoughts, Buddha Master nodded and said, "That’s right, I indeed switched from those businesses, all thanks to the earnest teachings of Master Kong Kong!"

"Really? Those two are truly admirable!" Ling Feng remarked.

Now he understood; no wonder Buddha Master’s standard of living seemed a bit low—it was because he had given up the lucrative businesses?

He had mentioned several things earlier, but clearly, it seemed like those ventures hadn’t quite taken off yet.

Buddha Master smiled and said, "Admirable is too generous a word, I simply had a sudden epiphany that life is subject to karma, and having done so many bad things in the past, it’s time to do some good deeds to make amends!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng was filled with respect but couldn’t help chuckling, "It’s never too late to make a decision, no matter when it happens!"

"Thank you!"

Buddha Master nodded, then continued, "Therefore, Mr. Ling doesn’t have to worry, I have no ill intentions toward you, quite the opposite, in fact, I have an impertinent request to make!"

"Please don’t hold back, just say what’s on your mind!" Ling Feng nodded.

Resulting in Buddha Master’s amused smile, "No rush, we can talk about it tomorrow. It’s getting late—after Mr. Ling and the two ladies have had dinner, you should rest!"

"Alright, as the host wishes!" Ling Feng laughed.

Throughout the dinner, Master Kong Kong didn’t speak, only occasionally glancing at Ling Feng and smiling at him.

After the banquet ended, Ling Feng, Liya, and Li Fei’er were led by Buddha Master’s men to the back of the village.

They arrived at the door of a room, and the man bowed before leaving.

Ling Feng was a little stunned as he entered and found it to be a suite with a living room and a bedroom, almost identical to a hotel room in terms of decor.

But now there was a problem. There were three of them, and only one room!

So Ling Feng couldn’t help scratching his head, "Does Buddha Master have some misunderstanding about our relationship? Liya, didn’t your master explain to him?"

"I’m not sure either!"

Liya looked a bit embarrassed as she replied with a wry smile.

Li Fei’er, quick-witted, laughed and hugged her arm, "No worries, we can sleep together tonight and let uncle sleep in the living room!"

"Uh, you’re quite willing!"

Ling Feng felt resigned, but sleeping on a couch wasn’t new to him; he had done it many times before and didn’t find it unacceptable.

Seeing that Liya was still somewhat uneasy, he laughed and said, "If you find it inconvenient, I can go and ask Buddha Master for another room!"

"No, I don’t feel uncomfortable; let’s just leave it as it is!"

Liya hurried into the bedroom after saying this.

Li Fei’er turned to Ling Feng, winked, and followed her in.

Glancing at the sofa in the living room, Ling Feng shook his head helplessly and lay down on it.

Having sat in the car all day and jolted on the road, he was indeed a bit tired.

Ling Feng had planned to wash up before sleeping, but a minute after lying down, he drifted off into a drowsy slumber.

Entering the realm of dreams, Ling Feng felt as if he had arrived at a very unfamiliar place where dense trees and wild grass surrounded him—it was a typical tropical rainforest environment.

Looking around, he knew very clearly that he was in a dream, such an odd sensation.

Just as he wondered what was going on, suddenly a soft chuckle came from behind!
