Chapter 891: At the Slightest Disagreement
Chapter 891: At the Slightest Disagreement
Hearing Ling Feng’s words, Pete chuckled, "I’m sorry, but I can’t tell Mr. Ling that for now!"
"Alright then!"
Ling Feng nodded, feeling certain the other party was up to no good. With so many people in tow, they might be planning to coerce Master Kong Kong!
So, in his heart, an idea suddenly sprang up, and he decided to find a way to drive these people away!
After pondering for a moment, Ling Feng looked up, "I wonder how many followers Mr. Pete has gathered here in the Golden Triangle?"
"There are already over ten thousand, but that’s not enough. Our goal is to have at least one-third of the residents here believe in Catholicism!" Pete said.
"Oh?"
Ling Feng raised his eyebrows, thinking to himself what big ambitions they had!
Gathering so many followers would influence their friends and family, wouldn’t that mean the entire Golden Triangle’s populace would be assimilated?
As he was contemplating this, Liya suddenly asked, "Mr. Pete, may I know why you are proselytizing here?"
"Well, it’s not just targeting the Golden Triangle region. The Holy See has been expanding all over the world, and missionaries are almost everywhere now!" Pete explained.
"Oh? Is the effort that substantial?" Ling Feng asked in surprise.
"Yes, it’s to save the masses, after all!"
Pete smiled, looking earnestly at Ling Feng, "Great calamities will come, and people will be plunged into dire straits. It’s our duty to save them!"
Ling Feng’s eyelid twitched, "What calamities?"
Pete said with piety, "The prophets of the Holy See have told us that humanity will face a great catastrophe, with fire raining from the heavens, and only we can save the people."
"Um..."
Ling Feng didn’t know what to say upon hearing this; it was clear they were trying to convert him!
Hearing this, he quickly laughed, "Okay, so that’s the story!"
"Mr. Ling, would you like to join us?" Pete asked.
"I’d better not, I’m not a person of faith—I only believe in myself!" Ling Feng quickly shook his head.
"If you miss this chance, when the celestial fire descends, no one will protect you!" Pete said earnestly.
At this point, Li Fei’er could hardly hold back. She glared at him and said, "Don’t be so dramatic. What ’celestial fire descending’, what ’only you can save the masses’, as if you’re so noble. Isn’t it just hiding ulterior motives?"
"Young lady, you shouldn’t talk like that. Where do we have any ulterior motives?" Pete said with a faint smile.
Li Fei’er rolled her eyes, "You know best whether you have them or not!"
"Our intention is genuinely for the good of all, with no other schemes in mind!" Pete insisted.
"Then use your love to influence others. Don’t drag Master Kong Kong into this—he won’t help you!"
Li Fei’er gave him a cold glance and then stood up, "This is boring, I’m going to sleep!"
Pete frowned, "Young lady, please mind your language and don’t slander our cause!"
"Who’s slandering you? I’m just speaking the truth!" Li Fei’er retorted with a cold laugh.
Ling Feng watched from the sidelines in silence, not saying a word.
He knew that Li Fei’er was doing this on purpose, aiming to provoke Pete and see what kind of person he really was.
And now, it seemed she had succeeded with just a few words!
Sure enough, Pete suddenly stood up, pointing at Li Fei’er, "You’d better produce evidence, or else this isn’t over!"
"And what if it isn’t? You wouldn’t dare to hit me, would you?" Li Fei’er shouted back.
Pete narrowed his eyes, then glanced back.
Immediately, two burly men stood up and walked towards Li Fei’er with a threatening look.
It was no longer possible for Ling Feng to stay out of it; he stood up to block her, then looked at Pete, "What’s this about, Mr. Pete? Are you really going to take a young girl that seriously?"
"Hmph, she slandered the Holy See and questioned our motives—she must be punished!" Pete declared.
"What if I don’t permit it?" Ling Feng sneered.
"Then you will be punished along with them!" Pete snapped.
"Fine, bring it on!"
Ling Feng knew it was time to stop pretending, so he said with a smile.
Pete narrowed his eyes, "We are all strangers here; there was no need for conflict, but you’re asking for it!"
Ling Feng chuckled, "Cut the crap, show me what you’ve got!"
"Hmph!"
No sooner had his words fallen than the two white men rushed toward him, swinging their fists to strike!
Ling Feng sidestepped and kicked one of them, sending him flying!
The other one didn’t fare any better and was slapped to the ground with a sweep of Ling Feng’s hand!
After dealing with these two, Ling Feng was not only unimpressed but also somewhat surprised as he looked at Pete incredulously, "Is that all your men can do?"
"Who exactly are you? How can you defeat members of the Order of the Temple Knights!" Pete asked, eyes wide.
"What Order of the Temple Knights?"
Ling Feng was also startled and asked in confusion.
"Seems like a military organization exclusive to The Holy See, right? I remember reading about it in history books," Li Fei’er said.
Ling Feng said with a grunt and then shrugged his shoulders, "So what’s so great about them? Just a bunch of private armed forces, are they really that impressive?"
Li Fei’er shook her head, "I wouldn’t know about that, but judging by the strength of those two guys, they were only at the Peak of Hua Energy, pretty average!"
"Hmm, you have a good eye."
Ling Feng nodded approvingly and then turned to Pete, "You’re a Missionary with Superpower Users for protection, and you still claim you have no ulterior motives?"
"They are just sent by The Holy See to protect me, what ulterior motive could there be?" Pete countered.
Ling Feng scoffed, "You preach faith and love, what is there to fear?"
"This...."
Pete was speechless in response to the pointed question!
Out of annoyance and embarrassment, he turned to the remaining men and said something in a language Li Fei’er couldn’t understand.
Immediately after, those men started to rise, each drawing a weapon.
"Damn, are they planning to kill a witness?"
Ling Feng saw that they had brought out various guns and was left speechless.
"Since you’re not an ordinary person, I might give you a chance. Join us or die," Pete said fiercely.
Ling Feng sneered, "Do you think holding a gun gives you the power to decide life and death?"
Li Fei’er also made a face, "Is this how you spread your teachings? By forcing others to agree?"
"Fools, not knowing how to live!"
Unable to respond to the comeback, Pete roared in anger, turning as if to give the order to attack!
Seeing this, Ling Feng quickly activated the Mind Soul Art!
Then, with the exception of Pete, those holding guns all screamed in agony, dropping their weapons and clutching their heads!
"Eh?"
This time, Ling Feng was taken aback; Pete seemed unaffected, as if nothing had happened!
So he looked at him, asking in confusion, "Why aren’t you affected?"
"What, what have you done to them?" Pete asked, his eyes filled with terror and astonishment.
