The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 889: Visitors

Chapter 889: Visitors

As the car entered the mountains, the roads started becoming increasingly difficult to navigate.

Often, the car couldn’t even reach a speed of twenty, moving through the rugged forest terrain at a snail’s pace, much like an old ox pulling a cart.

However, the environment of the subtropical rainforest was quite pleasant, and Ling Feng didn’t find the journey too arduous as he watched the dense jungle outside the window.

During the trip, Liya also briefed them on the situation in the region, including the population and the distribution of various armed forces.

Though Buddha Master was the largest force in the Golden Triangle area, the territory was vast and very large, with some scattered armed forces in the surrounding areas as well.

Ling Feng had long known that the so-called Golden Triangle was located at the junction of three countries, with its complex mountainous environment, it had become a lawless area.

And it was because of these conditions that some criminals had developed drug cultivation and processing here.

Over time, this place had become a Holy Ground for criminals all over the world.

It took them almost half a day to cover just over a hundred kilometers, and finally, the car stopped in a small village at the foot of the mountain.

However, Ling Feng and the others were not destined for this village, but rather for a location halfway up the mountain.

The reason for stopping was because there was no road that could reach the mountain top, and they would have to proceed on foot from here.

Upon disembarking, Liya received some unwelcome news; Master Kong Kong, who was supposed to be in retreat at the temple on the mountain, had descended that very morning!

No one knew where he had gone.

With a hint of disappointment, Liya said to Ling Feng, "I’m sorry, Mr. Ling. My master, who roams like a cloud, doesn’t carry a cell phone, so there’s no way to contact him in advance."

"It’s all right; now that we are here, we’ll just wait and see!"

Ling Feng said with a carefree smile.

Buddhism teaches that all encounters are predestined, and so he didn’t take it too seriously.

Now that they had arrived but couldn’t find the person, turning back was clearly out of the question, so the three of them continued with their original plan, walking up the mountain path towards the middle of the mountainside.

The mountain path was narrow, only wide enough for one person to walk alone, but fortunately, someone had carved steps out of the stone, making the climb less difficult.

Upon reaching the middle of the mountainside, a platform of nearly a hundred square meters appeared ahead, with two wooden huts against the side of the mountain.

Seeing this, Ling Feng couldn’t help but ask, "Don’t tell me this is Master Kong Kong’s temple?"

"It’s quite humble, isn’t it? My master is an ascetic monk; he does not fancy tall walls and grand courtyards. He says that Buddha himself attained enlightenment in a tree hollow and that as long as one has the Dharma in their heart, it doesn’t matter even if one stays in the open air," Liya said with a smile.

Ling Feng nodded, standing at the edge of the platform, his eyes sweeping across a dozen kilometers, enjoying a view that was exceptionally lovely.

Due to its tropical location, the four seasons weren’t distinct here; the places his eyes reached were all lush and vibrant with life.

He couldn’t help but exclaim, "Master Kong Kong really knows how to pick a place; standing here, one’s soul can be purified!"

Liya nodded. "You rest here for a while; I’ll go check if there’s anything to eat so we can prepare dinner."

"I’ll come with you!"

Li Fei’er said, following her to the two wooden huts.

With nothing to do, Ling Feng simply found a flat stone and sat down.

The sun was setting, a layer of golden afterglow blanketing the earth, and wisps of pale blue smoke began to rise from the village at the foot of the mountain.

Everything was so serene and natural.

However, when the afterglow of the sun faded and the earth was about to be engulfed in darkness, Ling Feng saw several cars slowly winding their way through the mountains, heading straight for the village where they had parked.

The headlights were dazzlingly bright, making their target very obvious. After about fifteen minutes, he saw the cars stop outside the village, and then a dozen or so people got out.

The distance was too far to see clearly who these people were, but their movements were evident. After staying in the village for a short while, they started heading up the mountain.

By this time, dinner was ready, and Li Fei’er came over to call Ling Feng to eat. Seeing him staring down the mountain, she asked curiously, "Uncle, what are you looking at?"

"Someone is coming up the mountain!"

Ling Feng said and stood up, adding, "They must be here to find Master Kong Kong, just like us."

"Oh, then there’s nothing we can do. We got here first; they’ll just have to camp outside if they want to wait!" Li Fei’er said.

Ling Feng nodded, "They are quite a number. Hopefully, they’ve brought tents or something. Otherwise, I’m afraid the mosquitoes here might eat them alive!"

Not long after they spoke, a group of figures appeared at the entrance to the plateau. Ling Feng could now see the faces of the newcomers, and he was momentarily taken aback!

The arrivals were all blond-haired and blue-eyed foreigners!

The newcomers clearly knew Ling Feng was here, having either seen the car in the village or heard about it from the villagers, so they were not surprised.

While Ling Feng was still stunned, one of the bearded men walked over and said a few things in English with an outstretched hand.

Ling Feng could tell that it was English, but his proficiency was not enough to understand what was said.

Li Fei’er, however, understood and replied.

After speaking, she looked back at Ling Feng, "They were asking us if we know when Master Kong Kong will return. I told them we don’t know either."

As soon as she finished speaking, the bearded man smiled, "So you are Huaxia people!"

"Hmm?"

Ling Feng and Li Fei’er both looked surprised, turning to the man in astonishment. They didn’t expect his Huaxia language to be so fluent, and without any accent to boot!

So Ling Feng asked curiously, "You speak our mother tongue so fluently?"

"I spent five years in Huaxia, and over time, I learned!"

The bearded man smiled and extended his hand again, "Hello, I’m Pete, from Germany."

"Hello, I’m Ling Feng."

After shaking hands, Ling Feng inquired with a puzzled look, "Mr. Pete, you didn’t come all the way from Europe just for this, did you?"

"Of course not, I have been living here for over two years!"

Pete laughed, and then said, "I have always known about the boundless Buddha power of Master Kong Kong. I came especially to visit him today, but I did not expect that the master would be away. It seems there’s no destiny!"

"Oh."

Ling Feng nodded, and looked at Pete and the tall men behind him, feeling that these people weren’t here just for a visit. They must have another agenda!

After pondering for a moment, Ling Feng said, "It’s indeed quite unfortunate. Since the master isn’t here, do you plan to wait, Mr. Pete, or are you going to return immediately?"

Pete shrugged, "Now that I’m here, naturally, I’m going to wait a while!"

"Makes sense, but the space here is limited and I’m afraid there may not be enough room for you all to rest," Ling Feng said.

Pete smiled, "No problem, we can just camp out here!"
