The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 525 The Ends Justify the Means

Chapter 525 The Ends Justify the Means

Indeed, as the earth trembled violently, the ground dozens of meters ahead suddenly split open, revealing a gigantic red sphere.

Ling Feng stared dumbfounded at the scene before him, thinking to himself, "What in the world is that? A red balloon?"

It did resemble a balloon, but it was enormous, about the size of a hot air balloon!

The trembling of the ground gradually subsided because the gigantic sphere had burrowed its way out!

Supporting the head as large as a hot air balloon were eight gigantic octopus legs. If shrunk hundreds of times, this would be an octopus.

Ling Feng was bewildered. Gigantic octopus legs were one thing, but now a gigantic octopus had appeared. Had this creature changed its habits, not living in the sea but in this dry wasteland next to barren beaches?

Just when he was speechless, a cold flash appeared atop the giant octopus’s head, and a beam of light shot straight at him.

Ling Feng instinctively leaped to dodge and heard a boom beneath his feet as the spot where he had just stood was blasted into a large pit!

Rocks flew in all directions, though they didn’t hit him, but Wang Cai and the other two were struck and let out a series of agonizing yelps!

"What the hell!"

Ling Feng was at a loss for words. Wang Cai and his sons, who had always been unchallenged, had finally met their match.

Without even fighting, this was the result. It seemed that dealing with the gigantic octopus wouldn’t be easy!

Looking up at the octopus’s head, Ling Feng was surprised to see what appeared to be a round stone embedded there!

The white light had come from that stone.

Just as he was about to take a closer look, another beam of white light came at him, and Ling Feng quickly jumped away, landing more than a dozen meters distant.

"Boom!"

Another loud noise, and another round pit was blasted into the ground!

Ling Feng was speechless again. Turning to look at Wang Cai and Xiao Qiang, they had taken cover even further away than him and were now furiously barking at the gigantic octopus from a distance, but none of them dared to advance.

Shaking his head in resignation, he yelled, "Stop showing off, and retreat!"

Having said that, Ling Feng was the first to sprint towards the entrance!

Upon seeing this, Wang Cai and his sons immediately followed him.

Back at the entrance, he turned around to look at the distance. The gigantic octopus hadn’t followed them but remained stationary, seemingly lying on the ground.

"Is this guy not going back after coming out?"

Scratching his head, Ling Feng was puzzled, thinking that he would devise a strategy once outside. After all, he definitely intended to kill the creature, if for nothing else, then for the stone on its head—it had to be a treasure!

And since it was a treasure, he had to get it into his own hands to be satisfied!

With this in mind, he turned and left, returning to the grassland outside of the Nine Heavens.

He was tempted to see if Feng Ling had adapted to the environment here, but after a moment’s thought, he decided against it. Ling Feng activated the teleportation and returned to his home.

Then he picked up the phone, pondered for a moment, and called Chu Nan.

After much consideration, he still thought this elder was more reliable when it came to vast experience.

The phone rang for a few seconds before Chu Nan answered, "What’s up, Ling Feng? Don’t tell me you’ve missed me?"

"Of course, what’s the teacher been up to lately?" Ling Feng asked.

"Nothing much. Just eating and drinking tea. So tell me, what do you need?" Chu Nan asked.

Ling Feng chuckled and didn’t beat around the bush, saying directly, "I’d like to ask the teacher, if I encounter an especially formidable opponent, like a gigantic monster, and I can’t defeat it with my abilities alone, what should I do?"

Chu Nan paused in obvious surprise before asking, "What kind of monster?"

"Uh, just don’t ask about that, let’s just assume for a second," Ling Feng said with a laugh.

"You little rascal, keeping secrets from me too? Alright then, I won’t pry further. The kind of monster you mentioned, is it very powerful?" Chu Nan asked.

Ling Feng nodded, "It’s very powerful. My abilities are limited; I can’t kill it in one hit. I probably can’t even slowly chip away at it until it dies!"

"Oh."

Chu Nan hummed in thought, and then another old man’s voice came through the receiver: "Is this even something worth asking?"

Ling Feng was startled: "Wang Laogen?"

"Yeah, Old Wang is visiting me. Do you want to say hello?" Chu Nan said with a smile.

Ling Feng was speechless. Just a couple of days ago at his own house, these two old men were at loggerheads; how did they end up hanging out together in just a few days?

By now, Wang Laogen’s sleazy laugh had come through the phone: "Kid, ran into some tough monster, did you?"

"Uh, a giant octopus, the kind that’s over a dozen meters tall, not sure how to kill it..." Ling Feng said with a wry smile.

Wang Laogen was also taken aback, then asked indifferently: "What’s your goal?"

"Goal? To kill it, of course."

"Well, there you go. There’s a saying ’by any means necessary.’ As long as you achieve your goal, aren’t there plenty of ways? Why do you have to limit yourself to your own abilities? It’s a living creature; do you have to rely solely on your personal strength to kill it?"

Hearing Wang Laogen’s words, Ling Feng’s eyes widened: "What else can I do, bombard it with a cannon?"

"Not impossible, if cannons don’t work, atomic bombs always work, right?" Wang Laogen chuckled hehe.

That sounded a bit unreliable. Ling Feng rolled his eyes but said: "I understand, thanks for the tip!"

"Don’t mention it. If you’re grateful, go thank Chu Nan; after all, you were looking for him, not me!" Wang Laogen teased.

There was a clear hint of jealousy in his tone, and Ling Feng quickly explained: "Don’t blame me, okay? It’s just that the teacher’s number is at the top, so I saw it first and called."

"No need to explain. After you kill that giant octopus, is there any benefit?" Wang Laogen asked.

Ling Feng immediately became wary and then asked: "What do you mean?"

Wang Laogen chuckled: "Nothing, just don’t hog all the good stuff for yourself!"

Ling Feng: "..."

After a moment of silence, he laughed: "Let’s kill it first, and don’t worry; if there are any benefits, I definitely won’t forget you!"

Wang Laogen immediately laughed heartily: "Alright then!"

After hanging up the phone, Ling Feng scratched his head.

To say Wang Laogen’s advice was enlightening would be an understatement; if he couldn’t solve the problem with brute force, that didn’t mean there weren’t other ways!

So, after some thought, Ling Feng called Chen Ping.

"What’s up?"

Chen Ping’s voice was calm, devoid of any emotion.

Ling Feng knew that was just his personality, and he smiled and asked, "Director, I wanted to ask you something. Do we have anything like a small nuclear bomb around here?"

Chen Ping: "..."

Instantly, his voice filled with anger: "What the hell are you up to now, kid, who are you planning to blow up?"

"No, I was just casually asking, don’t get worked up, calm down," Ling Feng said sheepishly.
