Chapter 1687 - 1686: Tier 6 Creature

Rick relaxed and turned to leave the tent, going outside to organize everyone’s rest.

Ling Feng lay on the cot, scanning the surroundings with his Divine Sense, feeling secretly puzzled and not knowing what that white creature was about.

Just as he was wondering, Tian Lian from within the Jade Pendant said, "Master, Little Hei knows what’s going on with that white creature!"

"Oh?"

Ling Feng was taken aback and did not ask about the creature, but instead immediately inquired, "You can actually hear my inner thoughts?"

"No, I just sensed the master might want to know, so I said it!" Tian Lian replied.

"Oh, is that so? Then tell me." Ling Feng said with a smile.

"That was a Phantom Beast, a sixth-order creature, resistant to spiritual power control!" Tian Lian explained.

"A sixth-order creature!"

Ling Feng’s eyes widened upon hearing this.

Wang Cai and Yellow are currently only fifth-order creatures!

Immediately, Ling Feng realized another issue, which was that Little Hei was actually able to take down a sixth-order creature; what level is it at?

So he quickly asked, "Tian Lian, what order is Little Hei now?"

"Reporting to the master, Little Hei is currently a fifth-order creature, but after devouring the Phantom Beast, it will soon be promoted to the sixth order." Tian Lian replied.

"Goodness, that’s impressive!"

Ling Feng was shocked and then asked, "It can defeat a sixth-order creature despite being fifth-order?"

"Mainly because the master severed one of the Phantom Beast’s claws, causing its body to sustain severe injuries, giving Little Hei the opportunity to kill it." Tian Lian answered.

Ling Feng finally understood and nodded, saying, "That’s still quite impressive!"

Then, recalling Little Hei’s knowledge about the white creature, he continued to ask, "How does Little Hei know the Phantom Beast? What’s its origin? Is it domesticated by someone?"

"Yes, master."

Tian Lian nodded and continued, "The Phantom Beast has an owner; it is also an underground creature, but extremely rare in number. Little Hei knows about it because it encountered such a thing many years ago!"

"Very good!"

Ling Feng nodded, having basically asked everything he wanted to know.

He then added, "Let Little Hei quietly digest the Phantom Beast; perhaps when it reaches the sixth-order, it will be very useful!"

"Understood, master."

Tian Lian uttered one last time, and then fell silent.

...

...

A peaceful night passed without incident.

The sun rose, its light filtering through the forest, accompanied by the sounds of insects and birds chirping around.

After getting up, Ling Feng checked his phone.

No messages received, indicating that Lin Xue and others were still inside the ruins, continuing in transporting gold.

He thought it had been so long and was surprised the transport wasn’t over yet, but given the scale involved, it made sense it wouldn’t be an instant matter, which put his mind at ease.

Exiting the tent, he saw Rick and the others already up, some washing up, some lighting fires, and Ling Feng asked with a smile, "How did you sleep last night?"

"To be honest, hardly slept at all."

Rick smiled sheepishly and added, "We are ordinary people, unlike Mr. Ling who’s so powerful, naturally we were a bit scared."

"That’s understandable."

Ling Feng chuckled and then asked, "Did you contact your superior? When will they arrive?"

"Eleven in the morning, we’ll have to wait a bit more." Rick responded.

"Alright, let’s wait!"

Ling Feng was more than willing, immediately nodding.

Breakfast was simple oatmeal and milk; after eating, Ling Feng returned to the tent.

The surroundings had been scanned countless times through Divine Sense, with nothing novel appearing, failing to pique his interest.

Thus, staying inside the tent felt more comfortable.

After lying back on the bed, Ling Feng pulled out a satellite phone and sent Lin Xue a message.

After a few minutes, Lin Xue replied.

Seeing the words on the screen, Ling Feng immediately sat up!

"Everyone with Space Bracelets came, but we’ve only accomplished half!"

Everyone, including Ling Yao and others who returned to help; at least ten people were involved, yet they only completed half?

Ling Feng, bewildered, wondered just how much gold there was, perhaps exceeding ten thousand tonnes?

He was short on time, so merely replied, "I’ll try to delay them, aiming for their late entry into the ruins."

Lin Xue quickly replied, "No need, Sister Ling Yao already set up a barrier; even if they enter, they won’t find the City of Gold!"

"Oh?"

Ling Feng was surprised, remembering the last mention of barriers was from Shinozuka Haruko, wondering when Ling Yao learned it.

Of course, such things didn’t warrant unnecessary inquiries, seeing Lin Xue’s message relieved his mind.

With the barrier’s protection, it was optimal, dispelling any concerns.

In high spirits, Ling Feng stored the phone and stepped out of the tent.

Outside, only one person was on guard duty; upon seeing Ling Feng, he nodded slightly in acknowledgment, his gaze markedly different from when just boarding the plane.

Clearly, this man recognized Ling Feng’s prowess and understood that without his intervention last night, he too would have perished like the rest.

Thus, attitudes shifted, he and other soldiers changed from previous hostility to present respect.

Ling Feng smiled without speaking, then proceeded briskly towards the energy shield.

Originally just a casual stroll, but upon nearing, Ling Feng suddenly squinted, casting a glance at the forest on the left.

From fifty meters away, a pair of eyes were staring at him!

Gazes met, and the man emerged from the woods to reveal himself.

He was a Caucasian male, approximately 1.9 meters tall, clad in white silk clothing. The forest breeze blew, causing his garments to flutter with an ethereal grace.

But upon seeing the man’s face, Ling Feng found it hard to associate him with celestial beings, instead finding it rather comical.

Despite being Caucasian, this man sported a full beard which spoiled the ethereal image.

As the person approached, Ling Feng remained motionless, quietly observing him.

The soldier on alert also noticed the man and immediately sounded the alarm to comrades, soon Rick and the soldiers came out.

Seeing the man left Rick and his group puzzled, his attire highly unsuitable for the jungle.

A miracle indeed, that his clothes remained intact.

As the man drew near, Ling Feng gazed into his eyes and asked, "Who are you?"

"¥%¥%...¥"

The man spoke, though not in Huaxia.

At this moment, Rick abruptly said, "Mr. Ling, he’s speaking Latin!"

"Oh? You understand?" Ling Feng inquired, turning to Rick.

"I studied it, can translate!" Rick affirmed.

Ling Feng nodded, "Great, quickly ask him who he is and what he wants!"
