Chapter 1676 - 1675: Bounty

Catherine came back after the shower and saw Ling Feng had tidied up the bed, making it look as good as new.

She smiled and said, "Who would have thought you’re so meticulous!"

"You’ve just freshened up, how could I let you sleep in a messy bed?" Ling Feng chuckled.

"Not bad, not bad!"

Catherine nodded and then climbed into bed wearing a robe.

By now, it was already past midnight, and soon the sun would rise, so they didn’t linger long. After a brief kiss, they drifted into dreamland together.

When they woke, the sun was already high in the sky.

Seeing the beauty in his arms staring at him, Ling Feng smiled, "Morning!"

"It’s not morning anymore, it’s almost noon!"

Catherine laughed and continued, "Since we’re awake, let’s not stay in bed. A lot happened last night, and things might be brewing in the city today!"

"Is that so? Doesn’t matter!"

Ling Feng smiled. Although he said that, he still got up and out of bed.

Then he glanced at his phone, which had no messages. He turned back to Catherine and said, "Looks like there’s nothing going on, I haven’t received any news!"

But just as he finished speaking, the phone rang!

Seeing Gu Li’s name, Ling Feng frowned and immediately answered, "What’s up?"

"Boss, there’s news!" Gu Li said.

"If there’s news, get to it quickly, international calls are expensive!" Ling Feng said.

"Uh, well, yesterday there was a major event in your city; I guess it might be your handiwork, boss?" Gu Li asked.

Ling Feng pretended not to know and asked in confusion, "What event?"

"An abandoned factory caught fire, flames roaring high. The local fire department went to put it out but couldn’t extinguish it for a long time!" Gu Li said.

Ling Feng made an ’oh’ sound and then asked, "It’s just a fire, is it necessary to call me about it?"

"It’s not just any fire!"

Gu Li said in a lower voice, "According to reliable sources, the Roth Family from America is furious about this and has just issued a bounty!"

"Oh?"

Ling Feng raised an eyebrow, suddenly interested, "Tell me more!"

"The Roth Family has put up fifty million US Dollars, looking for eyewitnesses, and vowed to find out who started the fire!"

Gu Li said and then added, "Boss, it seems you really don’t know about this. If that’s the case, I’d suggest you go earn that money!"

"Forget it, I don’t care much for that amount!"

Ling Feng laughed and then squinted his eyes, "But talking about it, the Roth Family sure is generous, offering so much money just to find eyewitnesses?"

"Isn’t it strange? Both Ah Min and I feel there’s something fishy about this, just can’t guess the exact reason!" Gu Li said.

Ling Feng thought about it; he had only taken around a hundred million and burnt those drugs. Was the Roth Family really that worked up?

Could there be some hidden agenda behind this?

Thinking about this, he said to Gu Li, "Alright, I got it, keep an eye on it, I’ll contact you later!"

After hanging up the call, Ling Feng turned back and shared the news with Catherine.

"This is not right!"

Upon hearing, Catherine immediately frowned, "The bounty price from the Roth Family is the highest in America’s history; even if one of their key figures was attacked, this price is too high!"

"So you also think there’s a reason behind it, huh?"

Ling Feng smiled and then sat on the bed, "Did we miss something crucial last night, accidentally burning something very important to them?"

"That’s possible."

Catherine nodded, showing a look of reminiscence, then said, "Unfortunately, I can’t recall anything particularly important in that factory last night."

Ling Feng also tried to remember, but that factory was just a drug production site; what useful things could be there?

Thinking it over and still no clue, he simply shook his head, "Never mind, whatever it is, I’m too lazy to guess, perhaps the Roth Family will expose the reason themselves later!"

"Hmm, I’ll go check later, maybe I’ll discover something."

Catherine nodded and directly got up, taking off her robe to dress in front of Ling Feng.

Chu Xing glanced at Ling Feng and then said with a touch of envy, "Unlike you, boss, you always have beauties around wherever you go; last night must have been another romantic night, huh?"

Chu Xing chuckled, "Last night, you were staying at Miss Catherine’s hotel; our people saw it!"

"Ah? You had them follow me?" Ling Feng widened his eyes.

"Of course not!"

Chu Xing quickly waved his hand and explained, "Just saw it by chance, I wouldn’t dare have them tail you, boss!"

"Oh."

Ling Feng nodded, then asked, "Did anyone find anything last night?"

"Nothing much, but I heard a factory outside the city caught fire, and the blaze was huge!" Chu Xing said while looking at the chessboard.

Ling Feng looked at him, "That’s it? No other findings?"

"No."

Chu Xing raised his head, looking at Ling Feng and asking, "What’s up, boss, are you trying to find out something?"

"It’s nothing, just casually asking."

Ling Feng shook his head, "Where did Little Yu and the others go?"

"They went shopping, said they want to bring some gifts back home." Chu Xing replied.

"What’s good here?"

Ling Feng was somewhat speechless, rolling his eyes.

Chu Xing looked up at him, "Boss, you can’t say that; American technology is quite advanced; they have many globally leading technologies, though we don’t like to admit it, it’s true!"

"Hmm, alright then!"

Ling Feng laughed and then said, "No worries, we’ll catch up to them soon enough!"
