Chapter 1618 - 1617: Surprise Attack
Chapter 1618 - 1617: Surprise Attack
The missile was incredibly fast and had tracking capabilities. Seeing this, Li Fei’er quickly said, "Little Hong, burn it!"
Little Hong roared in response and then spat out a ball of flames!
With a "boom," the missile directly exploded under the high temperature!
At the same time, Ling Feng said in a deep voice, "Let’s go down and take a look. These guys are too arrogant!"
Little Hong also obeyed his command, diving directly and bringing the three of them down toward the tents on the ground!
"Ratatatat!"
Gunfire rang out as the people on the ground launched another attack.
But Little Hong was prepared. Their bullets were either swallowed by the flames or dodged, and not a single one hit!
As Little Hong’s massive body crashed to the ground, the gunfire stopped instantly.
The gunmen weren’t fools. Realizing their weapons were ineffective, they immediately dropped their guns and turned to run, fearing death was imminent.
Unfortunately, no matter how fast they ran, they couldn’t match the speed of Ling Feng’s Mind Soul Art. Many of them, just after turning, felt a sharp pain in their heads and instantly fell to the ground.
Amidst the tragic cries of pain, Ling Feng jumped off Little Hong’s back, his face dark as water.
These people had the typical appearances of Central Asians. Just looking at their clothes, it was clear they were just a mob, not any regular army.
Scanning around and not finding any Eastern faces, Ling Feng could only loudly ask, "Is there anyone who can communicate, step forward!"
He shouted twice, but no one responded.
Just as he was speechless, a voice suddenly came from the tent: "Mr. Ling?"
"Hmm?"
Ling Feng turned his head at the words and then saw a somewhat familiar face.
After thinking for a while, Ling Feng asked, "Are you Smith?"
"I didn’t expect Mr. Ling would still remember me!"
Smith smiled and quickly walked out of the tent.
Ling Feng looked at him with confusion: "Why are you here? If I remember correctly, you should be part of the American military, right?"
"Uh, yes, but Mr. Ling, don’t misunderstand. The attack just now was not ordered by us, it was their leader. Everyone thought you were going to attack us." Smith explained.
"So it was a misunderstanding?"
Ling Feng looked at him and then asked, "Then the drone in the sky just now, don’t tell me it had nothing to do with you either!"
"Well..."
Smith thought for a moment, then chuckled bitterly: "It really was related to us, but Mr. Ling, please listen to my explanation!"
"Go ahead, if your explanation is reasonable, I might let you off!" Ling Feng sneered.
Smith wiped the sweat from his forehead and quickly said, "It was like this, the plane was ours, but we didn’t control it. Our antenna here was only responsible for signal relaying, really!"
"Then who was controlling it, and why did two missiles get launched at me? You need to give me an explanation, don’t you?" Ling Feng asked coldly.
Upon being questioned like this, Smith suddenly looked troubled: "I really don’t know!"
Just after he finished speaking, another person came out of the tent, looking very unpleasant, and walked over with a stern face.
Seeing this person, Ling Feng was startled again.
He was also an acquaintance, seen earlier in North Africa, an American superpower user.
As their eyes met, Ling Feng asked calmly, "Who is this gentleman?"
"He is Mr. Aflek, the person in charge of our mission this time!" Smith said.
Ling Feng made a sound of acknowledgment, seeing that Aflek was glaring at him, so he curiously asked, "Doesn’t this guy understand Huaxia language? Why is he glaring at me like that?"
"Uh, like me just now, Mr. Aflek also felt a severe headache. I believe it was Mr. Ling’s doing, right?" Smith asked awkwardly with a smile.
"Yes, it was me. So what? Is he unhappy because of that?" Ling Feng asked coldly.
"No, no, no, it’s just a bit surprising. There must be some misunderstanding. I believe I can resolve it!" Smith quickly said.
Seeing his attitude was alright, Ling Feng’s expression softened a bit, then he said blandly, "Since that’s the case, I’ll leave this matter to you. Make sure to give me an explanation!"
After saying that, he glanced at Aflek. Seeing him still staring, Ling Feng continued, "Also, tell this guy not to look at me like that. If you want to make a move, I’m always ready. You Americans attacked me first. This is not Huaxia; I don’t mind killing a few more people here!"
"Yes, yes, yes, I understand!"
Smith was rather slippery. Just now, Ling Feng descended from the sky, and neither missiles nor guns could harm him. He also believed Aflek wasn’t Ling Feng’s match.
So to protect himself, he could only compromise!
Turning his head to look at the still angry but hesitant Aflek, Smith said bitterly in English: "Why are you still angry, do you think you can beat him?"
"This person was very rude, directly barging into our camp and making a move without a word. Shouldn’t I be angry?"
"Being angry is useless. He discovered and destroyed the drone in mid-air. This whole thing is our fault, isn’t it?" Smith asked.
Aflek looked indignant: "It wasn’t my order, why blame me?"
"But we’re on the same team!"
Smith thought to himself there was no other way and gritted his teeth, directly said to Aflek: "If you have the confidence, then make a move. I won’t intervene. Hurry and ask the higher-ups what happened!"
After speaking, he said no more and turned back into the tent.
Seeing Ling Feng’s gaze on him, Aflek’s heart tightened, then he lowered his eyes, turned, and followed back with a sullen face.
"Uncle, you’re not planning to make a move?"
Seeing this, Li Fei’er curiously asked.
"No rush, since the other side fears me, it’s just right to figure out what happened and see what these guys are up to here!"
Ling Feng smiled and then said, "They are not far from the oilfield. I’m worried they might have designs on our business!"
"I don’t think they would!"
Sato Saori shook her head: "This place is dozens of kilometers from our oilfield, not within our territory. If they were interested in the oilfield, they wouldn’t stay this far away."
Ling Feng nodded: "It’s best if they’re not. But we still need to see what they’re up to!"
The three of them stood outside the tent chatting. The people around had already risen from the ground, watching from afar, not daring to get close.
Ling Feng and the two girls were secondary; mainly, it was the totally red and fierce-looking Little Hong that terrified these people to death. They dared neither to leave nor stay, feeling utterly miserable.
After more than ten minutes, when Ling Feng started to grow impatient, Smith finally came out of the tent, grinning and saying, "Mr. Ling, we’ve figured things out!"
