The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1617 - 1616: Ambushed

Chapter 1617 - 1616: Ambushed

Ling Feng was stunned and hurriedly asked, "Why?"

"Because I’m not available these days!" Sato Saori said.

"Uh..."

Ling Feng felt a bit disappointed upon hearing this.

So he looked at Sato Saori, "Then why did you call me over!"

"What? Is that all that’s in your head, can’t you just keep me company purely?" Sato Saori tilted her head and asked irritably.

"Not at all, of course I want to keep you company!"

Ling Feng chuckled, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and defended himself, "I just find this place boring!"

"As long as I’m not bored!"

Sato Saori said, breaking free from his embrace, then leapt forward over ten meters!

Seeing this, Ling Feng had no choice but to catch up, and the two of them sped across the desert, one behind the other.

At this moment, in the sky over three thousand meters up, a drone was hovering in the air!

A massive lens aimed at the ground, slowly adjusting its angle.

Ling Feng and Sato Saori were completely oblivious to the aircraft so high in the air, nor did they know the lens had been pointed at them for more than half an hour.

By now, the two of them had trekked a long distance in the desert and sat down beside a small oasis.

There was a small pond here, with animal tracks all over the moist soil, clearly a common watering spot for them.

Sitting by the oasis, Ling Feng and Sato Saori occasionally saw small animals like sand rats coming over. They weren’t afraid of humans, merely glanced from afar before heading toward the water’s edge.

Finding it amusing, the two didn’t feel bored anymore.

But after a while, Ling Feng suddenly noticed a few sand rats abruptly lift their heads, looking alert, then all of a sudden, they bolted away!

In his confusion, Ling Feng felt a sense of danger, so he quickly pulled Sato Saori up and leapt away!

They had barely covered dozens of meters when they heard a whooshing sound, followed by something falling from the sky, landing right where they had just been sitting!

Then came a thunderous explosion!

The blast lifted countless rocks and sand, and when Ling Feng turned to look, the spot had become a large crater, with a plume of white smoke dissipating.

"Damn it!"

Ling Feng cursed, looking up at the sky.

He immediately saw a white trail in the sky, ahead of which a metallic glinting object was plummeting toward them!

Without time to explain, Ling Feng grabbed Sato Saori by the waist and leapt up once more.

Boom!

Another huge explosion.

"What’s going on? Are we being attacked?"

After landing, seeing the thick smoke in the distance, Sato Saori asked in shock.

Ling Feng looked up at the sky, found no new source of attack, and nodded solemnly, "Yes, and it’s missiles launched from high altitude!"

His Divine Sense hadn’t detected what was attacking them, so he deduced the opponent must be at an altitude of over a thousand meters.

The two attacks failed, and no further ones came, suggesting the attacker seemed short on weapons.

"I’ll make a call, you keep watch!"

Ling Feng said and took out his satellite phone, thought for a moment, and dialed Zhang He’s number.

Once connected, Zhang He’s voice came through, "I thought you didn’t want to chat with me?"

"I’m not calling to chat, I was attacked!"

With a serious expression, Ling Feng explained what had just happened.

After hearing it, Zhang He stood up directly, "How are you? Are you hurt?"

"No!"

Ling Feng rolled his eyes, "Underestimating me, huh? A couple of missiles can’t touch me!"

"Uh, can we drop the bragging?"

Zhang He said, somewhat speechless, and continued, "You’re being targeted now, stop wandering outside, I’ll look into who’s behind this!"

"That’s the point of my call, do your research, I have other things to handle!"

Ling Feng hung up and turned to Sato Saori, "Let’s use a large Teleportation Array to return to Longyuan, then I’ll get Feier or Little Yu here to check what that thing in the sky is!"

"Okay!"

Sato Saori nodded.

They placed the Teleportation Array on the ground and returned to Longyuan, after which Ling Feng called Li Feier.

Upon hearing about the incident, Li Feier teleported back without a word.

When the three returned to the scene, the smoke from the earlier explosions hadn’t even cleared.

Viewing the two large craters from afar, Li Feier didn’t hesitate, summoned Little Hong, and flew up on its back.

Ling Feng packed up the Teleportation Array, stood in place with Sato Saori, and waited for a few minutes.

A crimson figure descended from the sky and had just landed when Ling Feng saw another silvery object appear in the sky.

"Don’t worry, I brought the plane down!" Li Feier quickly said.

As she finished speaking, the plane crashed to the ground, shattering into pieces.

Though it was a drone, it was quite large, with a wingspan of seven or eight meters and a fuselage five or six meters long.

It didn’t explode, but the wreckage was scattered across a hundred square meters.

Seeing this, Ling Feng shook his head helplessly, "It’s high-tech, you could have stored it in a Space Bracelet, why destroy it?"

"This thing had weapons, Little Hong and I barely avoided being hit!"

Li Feier explained, and continued, "Plus, it was pretty fast, hard to catch, so I opted to destroy it!"

"Let’s go take a look."

Ling Feng chuckled bitterly, stepping forward.

Amid the scattered debris, he quickly found the remnants of the high-definition camera.

Though damaged, Ling Feng wasn’t after the camera. He rummaged through the wreckage, found something resembling a storage unit, and stowed it in the bracelet.

"This plane doesn’t seem to have any marks, it’s unclear which country it belongs to!" Sato Saori said after circling around.

"For attack-recon drones, anonymity is key; if marked, they risk exposing themselves when shot down!"

Ling Feng commented, then turned to Li Feier, "Was there just one plane up there?"

"Yes!"

Li Feier nodded, then pointed north, "But there are people on the ground, a few kilometers away over there, probably controlling the plane!"

"Oh?"

A spark of interest lit in Ling Feng’s eyes, and he immediately said, "Let’s go have a look!"

"Let’s have Little Hong take us, it’ll be quicker, and they can’t do anything to us!" Li Feier suggested.

"Alright."

Ling Feng nodded, boarded Little Hong’s back with the two women, and flew off.

Soon, they reached the edge of the desert, at the foot of a mountain range.

There were indeed people here, quite a number of them, with over ten olive-green tents on the ground.

Just as they contemplated drawing closer for reconnaissance, a plume of white smoke burst from one of the tents, followed by an anti-air missile whizzing into the sky!
