Chapter 1409: A Strange Smell
Chapter 1409: A Strange Smell
After hearing Ling Feng’s words, Han Wancheng chuckled, "That’s my oversight. Your rank is now higher than theirs, so you certainly have the right to know. I just forgot to tell Joanna!"
Ling Feng: "...."
After a moment of speechlessness, he continued to ask, "So what should I do now, will you tell me, or should I ask Joanna?"
"You go ask, I’ll notify her to lift the secrecy!" Han Wancheng said.
"Alright!"
Ling Feng couldn’t be bothered to say more and directly hung up the phone!
This was to show his attitude, to let the other party know he was very displeased!
On the other end of the phone, just as Han Wancheng wanted to say something, he heard the beep tone, and immediately shook his head with a wry smile.
Back in the room, Joanna was on a call and then hung up, looked at Ling Feng, and said, "Alright, the higher-ups said I can tell you the mission details, come with me!"
"Okay."
Ling Feng nodded and followed the three of them into the inner room.
After passing through two security doors and arriving at the innermost office, Joanna turned on the projector.
A map of the area near Mo Hai appeared on the wall, with the Huaxia side covered on the front, and the other half was the territory of Russia.
Xun Ruolan swept the laser pointer across the wall: "This area is their test zone, and now the number of mutant wolves and bears has exceeded a thousand!"
Ling Feng squinted, "How big is this area?"
"Two thousand square kilometers!"
Joanna said, "A range this large, a thousand isn’t much, but if even one crosses the border to our side, it would cause devastating damage and harm to the civilians!"
"Yeah!"
Ling Feng nodded, and then asked, "This Siberian wolf project, is its true purpose to create mutant creatures?"
"Yes, through genetic modification, animals gain spirituality, can be controlled by humans, and have enhanced agility and strength. These things are still quite lethal to humans!"
"You said humans, not ordinary people, meaning they also have attack power against cultivators?" Ling Feng asked.
"Yes!"
Joanna nodded, "These mutant animals swarming together would catch even energy gatherers off guard and with a little carelessness, they might get torn apart!"
Ling Feng sneered, "These Russians are quite interesting, the Americans are making mechas, the Japanese are studying the human body, and they decided to study animals!"
"All countries are starting research accordingly, obviously sensing something!" Joanna nodded and said.
"As if we have nothing to do!"
Ling Feng let out a bitter smile, then said, "Yet with the Russians doing this, we’re surprisingly not opposing, just monitoring those animals’ movements?"
"No way around it, after all, it’s within their territory; we can’t exactly intervene." Joanna shrugged.
"Do you guys have a satellite phone here?"
Ling Feng suddenly asked an inexplicable question, leaving the three girls momentarily stunned.
"What’s that for?" Joanna asked.
"If not, get one immediately, for emergencies!"
Ling Feng said, and then continued, "You guys know the dangers of those animals. If they cross the border and you lose contact with the outside world, and there’s a problem with the teleportation array, what will you do?"
This question left the three girls speechless.
"Let’s do this, I’ll leave a teleportation array here in the office for emergencies, and you apply for the satellite phone with the higher-ups, get it over as soon as possible. I’ll bring Fei’er over, and let’s check out the other side!"
As Ling Feng spoke, he entered the inner office.
After making arrangements, Xun Qianqian asked somewhat nonchalantly, "Is it necessary to be so tense? I don’t think anything will happen."
"You thinking it’s not enough, I have to think it’s fine!"
Ling Feng gave her a stern look and then said, "You are all the people I care about the most, none of you can have the slightest mishap!"
"Then why bring Fei’er?" Miao Lanlan asked.
"To check out over there, find an animal for an experiment, if effective, then it’ll be easy!" Ling Feng said.
Everyone knew Li Fei’er’s ability, hearing this, Joanna asked in astonishment, "You’re not planning to claim the other’s results as your own, are you?"
"Why not?"
Ling Feng chuckled, shrugged, "The Russians’ land is even more extensive than Huaxia’s, why not look around,
If they’re plotting something, let them taste the bitter fruit of losing both people and wealth!"
"Uh..."
Joanna looked speechless, then sighed, "If you want to do this, shouldn’t you report it to the bureau first?"
"No need, it’s just an idea for now, not like I’m planning to do it immediately, let’s experiment first and then talk!"
After Ling Feng finished speaking, he smiled and said, "Fei’er likes snow, just bring her over to build a few snowmen!"
Then he returned to Nine Heavens via the teleportation array.
When he saw Li Fei’er, she was playing with Yang Guang, so Ling Feng asked, "Do you two have thick clothes?"
"Yes, why?" Li Fei’er asked.
"Taking you to Mo Hai, it’s the northernmost point of Huaxia, very cold!" Ling Feng said.
"Wow, great, let’s go right now!"
Li Fei’er was surprised but also delighted.
Ling Feng nodded, took the two girls outside, and soon returned to the Mo Hai branch.
It had been some time since they last saw Joanna and them, and Li Fei’er immediately rushed over and hugged them.
Yang Guang, however, stood still, turning to look around.
Seeing her like this, Ling Feng curiously asked, "What’s wrong? Did you find something?"
"No, just feels like there’s a fishy smell here." Yang Guang said.
Ling Feng sniffed, didn’t sense any so-called smell, and then laughed, "Isn’t it just an uncomfortable change of environment?"
"No."
Yang Guang shook her head, put on a thick down jacket, wrapped herself into a ball, and walked to the courtyard.
This area may not be within the Arctic Circle, but it caught a bit of polar night. At just three in the afternoon, the sun had already set in the west.
Yang Guang stood in the courtyard, looked at the surrounding environment, and turned to Ling Feng and said, "Uncle, what’s up north?"
"This is Huaxia territory, and not far north from here is the Russian land!" Ling Feng said.
Yang Guang nodded, "Oh, that’s good. Since it’s their place, there’s nothing to worry about!"
"Really? What did you actually discover?" Ling Feng asked curiously.
Yang Guang smiled, "That fishy smell is coming from the north, about ten kilometers away from us, no need to worry!"
