Chapter 1301 Chamo Lake
Chapter 1301 Chamo Lake
Ling Feng glanced around the room, knowing that Chen Fei and her subordinates had already been here; all the obvious items must have been checked, so his focus was on places invisible to the naked eye.
After all, with Divine Sense, he could see more than an average person.
After carefully searching, not even sparing the gaps in the wardrobe and walls, Ling Feng still didn’t find anything of value.
Turning to look at the manager, Ling Feng asked, "Did these people bring luggage when they arrived?"
"They did, each of them had a large suitcase!" the manager replied.
"And did they take it with them when they left?" Ling Feng continued to ask.
The manager shook his head: "No, they left empty-handed, the surveillance footage has shown that."
"Oh."
Ling Feng nodded; they left without taking the suitcase, but the suitcase is missing, what does that indicate?
Squinting his eyes, Ling Feng thought to himself that these people were indeed unusual!
Carrying spatial equipment, pretending to travel light, but in fact taking away all the equipment, what were they up to?
He recalled the last time he saw Sato Saori; she also went to search for that ruin, could she be here to find something again?
While pondering this, Ling Feng inadvertently glanced at the mirror in the room.
It was a full-length mirror, one and a half meters tall, half a meter wide, with a few white fingerprints on the surface, as if someone had touched it.
Logically, people generally wouldn’t touch a mirror while looking into it.
With this in mind, Ling Feng approached and closely examined it.
A thought suddenly flashed in his mind; he wondered if there was any clue on it?
Turning to look at the manager, Ling Feng said to him, "Help me lower the temperature in this room, as low as possible!"
"Sure!"
The manager returned to the doorway and pressed the central air conditioner’s button.
With the cold air turned on, twenty minutes later, the room temperature dropped to around ten degrees above zero.
At this moment, people’s breath was already visible, so Ling Feng exhaled toward the mirror.
As a result, some handwriting immediately appeared on the mirror’s surface!
"Wow, this actually works?"
The hotel manager was bewildered, staring with wide eyes.
Ling Feng didn’t expect his spur-of-the-moment idea to actually work, so he quickly exhaled a few more breaths, and the mirror soon became covered with mist.
Amid the mist, a line of vertically written characters clearly emerged.
"If someone from the security bureau comes, go to Chamo Lake to find me, Sato."
Seeing this line, Ling Feng helplessly shook his head, "How did she come up with this?"
Then he turned to look at the hotel manager: "Excuse me, where is Chamo Lake?"
"It’s twenty kilometers from our county town, not very far," the manager replied.
"Great, thank you!"
Ling Feng nodded, didn’t go to check other rooms, wiped off the writing on the mirror, and then turned to leave.
After going downstairs, he was about to flag down a taxi to ask about going to Chamo Lake, when Chen Fei called.
Seeing her number, Ling Feng helplessly shook his head, gave a bitter smile, and answered: "Sister, you just slept for a little while?"
"Almost an hour, I’ve rested enough; how’s it going on your end?" Chen Fei asked.
"I just left the hotel, found some clues, and am about to head to Chamo Lake; those people all went there!" Ling Feng said.
"Really? Then wait for me, I’ll be there soon!"
Chen Fei said, then hung up without giving Ling Feng a chance to speak.
Looking at the blacked-out screen, Ling Feng had no choice but to wait on the street.
Ten minutes later, Chen Fei arrived by car, and he opened the door and got into the passenger seat.
"With me here, you can get to Chamo Lake faster!"
Chen Fei said while driving onto the road.
"You really are a workaholic, no, a workaholic sister!" Ling Feng said with a helpless smile.
Chen Fei pursed her lips but said nothing, gradually accelerating.
Soon, the car left the city, and twenty minutes later, they arrived at the lake’s edge.
This was a large lake surrounded by mountains; from this side to the opposite bank, it seemed to be at least a kilometer across.
"The shoreline of Chamo Lake stretches over forty kilometers, and it’s all surrounded by mountains; how do we search?" After parking, Chen Fei asked.
"Well, I don’t really have any ideas either."
Ling Feng shrugged, then said, "Let’s walk around; if we meet someone, maybe we can ask around."
Chen Fei nodded, "Alright, let’s go; there are a few villages by the lake, the villagers make their living by fishing, maybe they have seen those people!"
Leaving the car by the lake, the two started walking along the shore.
It was now eight in the morning, and they could see a few small boats floating on the lake in the distance; since the distance exceeded the range of his Divine Sense, Ling Feng couldn’t discern the situation on the boats, so he commented, "It’s unexpected that the fishermen start fishing so early."
"I don’t really know about their lives; they might be living the sunrise-to-sunset lifestyle?" Chen Fei speculated.
A short walk later, a village appeared at the foot of the mountain.
Several wooden fishing boats were moored at the small pier, indicating that the villagers made their living by fishing.
Living by the lake, people naturally relied on it for their livelihood.
Upon entering the village, Ling Feng’s Divine Sense had already located an elderly man weaving a fishing net at home, so he approached the courtyard gate and asked, "Sir, are you busy?"
The old man, nearly seventy, with a head full of white hair, looked up at the two upon hearing the words, then nodded: "Yes, where are you two from?"
"We’re from the county seat."
Ling Feng smiled and continued to ask, "Sir, did any strangers visit the village yesterday?"
The old man was taken aback for a moment, then somewhat warily asked, "What are you guys up to?"
Exchanging a glance, Chen Fei smiled, "I’m a police officer, here to investigate a case, so rest assured!"
"Oh."
The old man finally relaxed, perhaps because the two seemed very amiable, he immediately dropped his guard and nodded, "Last night, there were indeed people in the village!"
Ling Feng’s heart stirred, quickly asking, "How many?"
"About eight or nine, it seems!"
The old man thought for a moment, then asked with wide eyes, "They’re not bad people, are they? That would be terrible!"
"Huh? Why do you say that, sir?" Ling Feng quickly inquired.
"They took my son’s boat out!" the old man said.
Ling Feng was stunned, glancing back at the lake, where those fishing boats were now already at the lake’s center!
Meanwhile, Chen Fei said, "Don’t worry, sir; they’re not bad people, we’re just curious about what they’re doing here!"
