The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1169 Where Lies the Purpose

Chapter 1169 Where Lies the Purpose

Ghost Grandpa chuckled, "Wancheng, you’re being too formal. I was just curious about this kid’s identity, so I made a call to confirm. He is indeed a bit rebellious, but luckily he hasn’t crossed me."

"That’s good!"

Han Wancheng responded and then added, "When I have some free time, I’ll come to Ao Island to visit you!"

"Alright, let’s hang up now!"

Ghost Grandpa said and directly ended the call.

Ling Feng looked completely baffled, staring at the old man and asking, "Sir, what exactly is your identity?"

"You can ask Wancheng later. Now, can you finally believe that I’m a good person?" Ghost Grandpa asked.

"Uh, yes, absolutely!" Ling Feng nodded quickly.

"Good, just as long as you believe!"

Ghost Grandpa smiled faintly before asking, "Now tell me, why are you looking for Little Dao?"

At this point, Ling Feng naturally had nothing to hide; he directly disclosed the purpose of his visit.

After listening, Ghost Grandpa said "Oh," and then asked, "How did you and Han Chang become enemies?"

"Well, last night at the casino I played a few rounds..."

Ling Feng grinned awkwardly and recounted the events.

After hearing his story, Ghost Grandpa froze, Little Dao and the two bodyguards beside him were also dumbfounded!

Little Dao was so shocked that he forgot his manners and blurted out, "You won over one hundred million from Han Chang in one night?"

"Yeah, he was insistent on losing to me, so why wouldn’t I keep playing?" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

Ghost Grandpa gave him a scrutinizing look, "Is that really what you think?"

"That’s right. That guy was nuts—if Pu Fuwan hadn’t stopped him, he would’ve kept losing!" Ling Feng said.

Ghost Grandpa didn’t say anything further and turned to look at Little Dao, "Dao, give me your analysis."

"Yes!"

Little Dao nodded promptly and said, "Based on Han Chang’s character, losing over ten million would already be his limit—last night’s behavior was clearly out of the ordinary!"

"Hmm, why do you think that is?" Ghost Grandpa asked.

"Knowing Han Chang’s temperament, it’s almost impossible for him to lose his head over gambling. I think the most likely possibility is that he was setting a trap for Mr. Ling," Little Dao said.

"Purposely losing to me? What’s the point of that?" Ling Feng said, speechless.

Little Dao chuckled, "Han Chang has assets in the billions—a loss of over one hundred million doesn’t hurt him. But it gives him an excuse to get entangled with you."

"Uh..."

Ling Feng looked helpless and let out a bitter laugh, "I feel like there’s no need for him to do that. If he wants to go against me, he can just act directly—why bother involving some gambling conflict where he lost to me?"

Little Dao shook his head, "I wouldn’t know, but my gut tells me the situation is just like that—there’s no other reason that fits as well."

Ghost Grandpa said at this point, "It’s still early to determine Han Chang’s intentions. Little Dao’s analysis makes sense, but whether it’s valid or not depends on how events unfold moving forward."

"Speaking of this, I suddenly remembered something!"

Ling Feng’s mind sparked with an idea and he promptly said, "Pu Fuwan’s people approached me this morning and said he wants to invite me to lunch. Ghost Grandpa, do you think there’s anything suspicious about this?"

"It’s possible. One possibility is that Pu Fuwan admires your gambling skills and wants to forge a connection with you. Another possibility is that Han Chang is secretly manipulating events to lure you to a trap—a veritable ’banquet of doom,’" Ghost Grandpa said.

"Uh, I feel Pu Fuwan is a decent person. Surely he wouldn’t team up with Han Chang to scheme against me, right?" Ling Feng said with a wry smile.

"Anything can happen—it’s just a matter of timing and the people involved."

Ghost Grandpa remarked and then said to Ling Feng, "You’re not an outsider to me. Since I’ve learned about this, I can’t just ignore it. For now, go back—I’ll ask Little Dao to contact you before noon."

"Uh, does this mean you’re going to help me deal with Han Chang?" Ling Feng asked.

Ghost Grandpa chuckled in response, "You’re overthinking it. I haven’t meddled in the affairs of the underworld for years. The only thing I can help with is investigating the background of the matter."

"Oh, got it. Thank you, sir."

When Ghost Grandpa got up to leave, Ling Feng quickly followed and accompanied him to the door.

The old man settled into his car, rolled down the window, and said, "If you have time tonight, come by my place—I’m rather interested in Kong Sheng’s situation!"

"..."

Ling Feng was left speechless, just as he was preparing to explain, the car had already driven away!

Turning back, he locked eyes with Little Dao. The dynamic between them was no longer adversarial, though Little Dao still seemed a bit wary of Ling Feng, cautiously asking, "Uh, Mr. Ling, do you need me to give you a ride back?"

"No need. Ghost Grandpa told you to get in touch with me—you don’t even have my number right now, right?" Ling Feng asked.

"True, I still don’t have it." Little Dao said with a smile.

"Alright, jot it down and make sure to give me a call!"

Ling Feng gave his phone number, waited for Little Dao to record it, and then left the pawn shop.

Afterward, he didn’t seek out Yu Linglong or Zheng Yitong. Those two together were unlikely to stir up any trouble—and even if some scoundrel dared to harass them, Yu Linglong alone could handle it.

So Ling Feng wandered about the streets for a while before walking back to his hotel.

He went upstairs to his room, and just after sitting down, he heard the sound of the door opening. Yu Linglong and Zheng Yitong walked in.

Seeing the two of them, Ling Feng immediately smiled, "You two came back so quickly?"

"We just strolled around casually. Since you have that lunch appointment at noon, we thought we’d come back early to dress up." Yu Linglong explained.

"What? You’re going too?" Ling Feng asked.

"Of course. Even though it’s lunch, I’m sure Pu Fuwan will host you with high standards. Our presence will surely boost your reputation," Zheng Yitong said.

"Indeed, with two beautiful ladies accompanying me, I bet Pu Fuwan will be green with envy!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

The two women began to get ready, and as it approached eleven o’clock, Little Dao called Ling Feng.

Answering the call, Little Dao said, "Brother Feng, Pu Fuwan has reserved a table at the Supreme Hotel. Several prominent figures from Ao Island will be there, but Han Chang won’t be."

"Got it!"

Ling Feng acknowledged and hung up, wondering why Pu Fuwan had invited him without Han Chang present. Was Han avoiding him in the background, or did this truly have nothing to do with him?

While mulling it over, Yu Linglong and Zheng Yitong emerged from the room!

One wore a white gown, the other wore a black gown—elegant and poised, drawing every eye.

Yu Linglong, in particular, already had the kind of classical oriental beauty that paired perfectly with her white dress, making her appear like a celestial maiden descending to earth. Ling Feng was momentarily stunned!

Noticing this, Zheng Yitong covered her mouth and giggled, "Brother Ling, you see Ling Long every day—how come you still haven’t had your fill of looking at her?"

"Heh, there’s no such thing as enough when it comes to this!"

Ling Feng chuckled, then said, "You’re all ready—the time’s just about right to head out."
