The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1168: The Ghost Grandpa

Chapter 1168: The Ghost Grandpa

Little Dao was momentarily stunned by the question, then shook his head. "I really don’t know. Mr. Han’s residence? That’s way above my pay grade!"

"You don’t know?"

Ling Feng raised an eyebrow. "A street hustler like you doesn’t keep tabs on these things?"

"Well..."

Little Dao hesitated for a moment, then tentatively said, "If you need it, I can help ask around for you!"

"Alright, I’m giving you half an hour!"

Ling Feng glanced at the time and said firmly.

"Half an hour..."

Little Dao was about to say that half an hour wasn’t enough, but when he noticed the sinister look in Ling Feng’s eyes, he swallowed the rest of his words immediately.

Turning to the guy Ling Feng had dragged here earlier, Little Dao barked, "Go find out, now!"

"Got it!"

The guy couldn’t wait to leave. Ling Feng’s overpowering aura was making his hair stand on end. Staying near him was just too unbearable—better to keep a safe distance!

With only Ling Feng and Little Dao left in the room, they exchanged glances. Finally, Little Dao cautiously asked, "Uh, sir, who... who exactly are you?"

"What’s the matter? Want to dig into my background?" Ling Feng asked, a faint smirk on his face.

Little Dao quickly waved his hands. "Of course not! I wouldn’t dare. I’m just curious—how did you make my head feel like it was splitting apart earlier?"

Ling Feng gave him a knowing look, then smiled. "Not afraid to tell you—I’m not exactly an ordinary person."

"Uh..."

Little Dao was left speechless.

Of course he knew Ling Feng wasn’t ordinary. The man had taken out more than ten of his men outside, forced one of them to bring him here, and was clearly someone at a level he couldn’t handle.

Just as he was caught in his train of thought, there was a cough outside, followed by an aged voice asking, "Little Dao, are you in there?"

"Uncle Gui, I’m here!"

Little Dao instinctively responded, then immediately froze as he remembered Ling Feng was here too. Uh-oh, he was screwed!

Almost at the same moment, an elderly man in a long robe hobbled in with the aid of a cane, followed closely by two imposing bodyguards.

As soon as Uncle Gui stepped through the door, he saw Little Dao sitting on the ground, with a young man squatting beside him. His brows furrowed. "What’s going on here?"

"I, uh..."

Little Dao suddenly found himself tongue-tied, unsure of how to respond.

Ling Feng, on the other hand, didn’t seem fazed. He smiled as he stood up and casually said, "I was just here to ask Brother Dao some questions."

"Oh?"

Uncle Gui’s eyes sparkled with sharpness as he glanced up and down at Ling Feng, then said in a deep voice, "Your questioning methods seem... unique."

"Do they?"

Ling Feng shrugged nonchalantly. "Sometimes, you’ve got to use certain means to help people see reality—it’s only natural."

"Gotta say, kid, you’ve got guts. What’s your name?"

Uncle Gui leaned on his cane and settled onto the couch, fixing Ling Feng with a steady gaze.

"The name’s Ling Feng. And you must be Uncle Gui, right? The big boss of these small-time lackeys?" Ling Feng asked as he sat down too, completely at ease.

"Big boss..."

Uncle Gui chuckled wryly and said, "Haven’t been called that in years."

"Uncle Gui is the founder of the Haidong Club—he’s our elder!" Little Dao chimed in from the side.

Ling Feng smirked at this. "Doesn’t make much difference to me."

Clearly, he lumped the old man in with the rest of the lackeys.

The two burly bodyguards behind Uncle Gui bristled at this. One of them pointed at Ling Feng and shouted angrily, "Kid, Uncle Gui’s willing to talk to you like this—it’s already a sign of respect. Don’t think our Haidong Club is easy to mess with!"

"Oh, really? I’ve already messed with you, haven’t I? And I don’t see you doing anything about it," Ling Feng retorted with a cold sneer.

"You’re asking for it!"

The bodyguard raised a fist, ready to strike!

But before he made a move, he glanced at Uncle Gui for permission. However, the old man remained expressionless, not even glancing his way.

Now the bodyguard was dumbfounded. Without a signal from his boss, he couldn’t act—otherwise, it’d be seen as disrespecting his authority.

But wait—this didn’t add up. Normally, Uncle Gui would’ve reacted immediately to such insolence. Why was he acting so out of character today?

"Ling Feng, I have a question for you. You might not admit it, but I need to ask anyway—are you with the Mainland’s Security Bureau?" Uncle Gui asked.

"Hmm?"

Ling Feng froze. He hadn’t expected the old man to be so sharp, deducing his background with just a glance.

Seeing Ling Feng’s slight hesitation, Uncle Gui nodded slightly. That moment of silence already confirmed his suspicion. "Well, that makes things simpler," he said.

With that, the old man pulled out a phone and made a call.

Once the call connected, he put it on speaker. "Wancheng, how’ve you been lately?"

"Uncle Gui, what an honor to hear from you personally! Thanks to you, I’ve been doing well," Han Wancheng replied respectfully on the other end.

Ling Feng froze like a statue, staring at the old man in stunned silence. It felt like he was trapped in a dense fog, completely lost.

Ignoring him, Uncle Gui continued speaking into the phone. "Wancheng, I recall you mentioned a rising star in the Security Bureau recently. Someone whose achievements have already surpassed two of the veterans. What’s his name again?"

"You mean Ling Feng? Why do you ask, Uncle Gui?" Han Wancheng asked curiously.

"Oh, it’s nothing. Just curious. Because I have a young man named Ling Feng sitting right in front of me—wanted to see if it’s the same person," Uncle Gui replied with a chuckle.

"Huh?"

Han Wancheng paused, sounding perplexed. "That can’t be. Isn’t that kid at home? What’s he doing on Ao Island?"

Realizing he couldn’t stay quiet any longer, Ling Feng coughed awkwardly and said, "Uh, boss, I came to Ao Island for some work. Didn’t Zhang He report this to you?"

"..."

There was a brief silence on Han Wancheng’s end before he snapped angrily, "You two are thick as thieves! Of course he’d report the good stuff, but something like this—why would he tell me?"

Ling Feng winced, letting out an awkward laugh. "Boss, you’ve got it all wrong. I’m not here to stir up trouble!"

"Then what are you doing there?" Han Wancheng pressed.

Put on the spot, Ling Feng was momentarily speechless. He couldn’t very well admit that he’d come to make some extra cash, could he?

After a brief pause, he quickly came up with an excuse. "I’m here tracking down Kong Sheng!"

"Isn’t he dead?"

Han Wancheng sounded skeptical.

"I suspect he faked his death. Too many coincidences in this world!" Ling Feng replied firmly.

"He boarded a plane to Dongying. What are you doing on Ao Island?" Han Wancheng continued questioning.

Ling Feng had no choice but to fabricate another excuse, especially with Uncle Gui listening. "There’s an informant here. I came to follow a lead!"

"You better not be lying. Now shut up and let me have a word with Uncle Gui," Han Wancheng said.

"Got it!"

Ling Feng immediately fell silent, not daring to utter another word.

Much to his surprise, Han Wancheng then said, "Uncle Gui, that rascal Ling Feng may have a rebellious streak, but he means well. If he’s done anything out of line, I hope you can cut him some slack!"

Ling Feng, who’d been feeling awkward a moment ago, suddenly felt a warm surge in his heart.
