The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1153 Mountain God

Chapter 1153 Mountain God

Chen Yan and Ye Qian were stunned and asked simultaneously, "Why?"

"No particular reason. I just want to stay a bit longer and enjoy the mountain scenery!" Ling Feng replied with a smile.

Seeing a certain look in his eyes, the two women exchanged glances, nodded, and said, "Alright!"

Liu Fu, hearing this, quickly chimed in, "That’s great! The environment around here is quite nice! Oh, by the way, if you’re staying tonight, the Li Family next door has a spare room you can use!"

"Sure, then let’s trouble the Village Chief to take us there later. We’ll stay here tonight," Ling Feng nodded and said.

Chen Yan and Ye Qian exchanged another glance but said nothing.

After finishing their meal, Liu Fu led Ling Feng and the others to the house on the eastern side of the village.

The Li Family was an elderly couple. The west room in their home originally belonged to their son and daughter-in-law. However, the younger generation didn’t want to stay and farm, so shortly after their wedding, the couple left for work elsewhere.

Upon entering the house, they found that although it wasn’t large, it was cozy, much better than the spare room at Liu Fu’s house.

Ling Feng nodded in satisfaction, then turned to the Li Family couple and said, "Elders, we are borrowing your place for the night and don’t want to disrupt you for nothing. Here is some money as a lodging fee!"

As he spoke, he pulled out two hundred-yuan bills from his pocket.

Seeing this, Liu Fu’s eyes widened, and he quickly waved his hands, "You absolutely can’t do this! It’s not right; we can’t accept this!"

The Li couple also waved their hands nervously, steadfastly refusing to take the money!

Left with no choice, Ling Feng reluctantly put the money back into his pocket.

"Mr. Ling, since the two ladies are staying here, you can come back to my house and stay with me," Liu Fu suggested at this point.

Ling Feng was taken aback and hadn’t yet spoken when Chen Yan immediately replied, "No need. Let him stay here. There’s plenty of room; the three of us can manage just fine!"

As soon as she said this, she regretted it, as everyone’s expressions turned a bit unusual!

Noticing this, Ling Feng chuckled and explained to the elders, "There’s no misunderstanding here; we’re classmates and colleagues, so it’s fine for us to stay together."

"Alright then," Liu Fu said, his curiosity about their relationship dissipating after Ling Feng’s explanation.

There was still plenty of daylight left. Instead of staying inside, Ling Feng and the two women went outside after inspecting the room and headed toward the mountain in front of the village.

Once out of the village and away from others, Chen Yan asked, "Uncle, why are we staying here?"

"The villagers’ black-clad tenant we encountered earlier was actually someone staying at the Village Chief’s house," Ling Feng answered.

"What?!"

Chen Yan was shocked but quickly understood his reasoning and said, "So there are still two people who haven’t returned, right?"

"Exactly. We’ll wait and see if those two come back tonight. We can’t let them commit suicide by poisoning themselves again!" Ling Feng explained.

Talking as they walked, the three soon reached the top of the mountain by following a narrow path along the slope.

From here, they could see tens of miles of scenery in all directions. After finding a spot to sit down, Ling Feng looked toward the deep mountains to the west and muttered, "These people are something else – sneaking all the way here from Dongying. What are they after?"

"What else could it be but the Spirit of Vegetation?" Chen Yan guessed, puzzled.

"Not necessarily; there might be something more," Ling Feng replied.

As the two talked, Ye Qian stared blankly at the southern slope. Noticing this, Ling Feng asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Look at that spot. What does it resemble?"

Ye Qian pointed toward the southern peak with her small hand.

Ling Feng looked but didn’t see anything special. Scratching his head, he asked, "I don’t see it. What does it look like to you?"

"That peak looks just like the statue in the Mountain God Temple! Only, it’s horizontal!"

At her words, Ling Feng looked more carefully and finally noticed that it indeed bore some resemblance!

"What’s going on? A coincidence?" Chen Yan asked, doubtful.

"Highly unlikely. Looking at the rocks on the mountain, you can see marks of carving. Let’s go check it out!" Ye Qian suggested.

Ling Feng nodded, "Alright, let’s go!"

As he prepared to move, Ye Qian grabbed his arm, "Walking will take too long. Just carry us there!"

"Huh?"

Ling Feng froze. He had actually considered doing just that but refrained from suggesting it since they were merely friends, and he didn’t want to seem inappropriate.

Ye Qian’s suggestion surprised him, but seeing the pure look in her eyes, he said nothing and nodded, "Alright. That’ll definitely be faster."

He then looked at Chen Yan as if asking for her opinion.

Chen Yan didn’t say much either and nodded, "Alright, carry us then."

"Sure thing."

Ling Feng smiled, extending his arms to hold their waists, one on each side.

Without dwelling on the sensation, he leaped off the peak with all three of them.

Chen Yan and Ye Qian behaved obediently, displaying neither shyness nor nervousness. They naturally wrapped their arms around Ling Feng’s waist for support.

Not long after, the three descended the mountain and reached the opposite peak.

Before them stood a towering giant rock several meters tall, its man-made carvings even more apparent up close.

Ling Feng was taken aback, clicking his tongue in surprise, "What’s this about? Who could have done this?"

"Judging by these marks, it’s at least several hundred, if not over a thousand years old. From up in the sky, you could probably tell it’s the face of the Mountain God," Ye Qian said.

"Hmm!"

Ling Feng nodded, taking out his phone to check. Seeing there was signal, he immediately dialed Zhang He’s number.

"So, any results?"

Zhang He asked as soon as the call connected.

"Results? Yeah, we have some. But we’ve just made another discovery. I’ll send you the coordinates later. Can you check for satellite images of this location? I need them," Ling Feng said.

"Alright. It’s getting late. If there’s nothing urgent, you should head back early," Zhang He replied.

Ling Feng chuckled, "We’re staying in the village tonight, heading back tomorrow."

Zhang He hesitated, "Huh? Why?"

Then he realized, "Wait a second. Damn, are you using this mission as an excuse to flirt with girls?"

"Get lost. I’m working. I’ll explain later. Just get me those satellite images!" Ling Feng retorted, ending the call abruptly.

He then leaped into the air, soaring over ten meters high to survey the surrounding terrain.

However, the height wasn’t sufficient to spot much.

Just then, Ye Qian, exploring among the rocks, suddenly called out, "Come over here! Quickly!"

Hearing her, Ling Feng and Chen Yan rushed to her side.

When they arrived, they saw strange patterns covering a greenish stone.

Dense and intricate, the patterns resembled some sort of writing. Unfortunately, none of them recognized it, nor could they determine what language it was.

"This definitely doesn’t look like a formation’s inscription, so it must record some kind of information," Ling Feng speculated.

"Let’s take some pictures first," Chen Yan suggested, pulling out her phone.
