Chapter 1124: Human Heart is Unpredictable

Chapter 1124: Human Heart is Unpredictable

Ling Feng shook his head: "Not really, it’s just to rule out all kinds of possibilities!"

Mu Lingling let out a soft "oh," then thought for a moment: "At that time, everyone was busy graduating. It was just a routine life of home, school, and library, nothing particularly unusual happened."

"Really? Then are you certain it was during that time that you discovered you had this kind of eczema?" Ling Feng asked.

"Yes, I’m sure. When I first noticed it, I immediately went to the pharmacy outside the school to buy an ointment and applied it, so I remember clearly!" Mu Lingling replied.

Ling Feng nodded and continued asking: "After that, until now, where else have you been?"

"I went back to my hometown once, then reported to the teaching center, and then came here!" Mu Lingling stated.

"During this time, your symptoms have remained the same, continuously worsening?" Ling Feng asked.

Mu Lingling nodded again: "Exactly!"

Ling Feng uttered a soft "oh," gesturing for her to put her clothes back on. The room was a bit chilly, and her skin had developed fine goosebumps.

Mu Lingling dressed herself and then asked: "Mr. Ling, now can you see what the issue might be?"

"You’ve somewhat stumped me here!"

Ling Feng let out a bitter laugh and was just about to admit that he had no solution when suddenly a flash of inspiration struck his mind. He immediately asked: "By the way, since that time until now, is there anything you’ve kept with you all along, something you’ve never been apart from?"

"Hmm?"

Mu Lingling froze for a moment, then said: "Now that you mention it... there is!"

Ling Feng instantly perked up: "What is it?"

"It’s this!"

Mu Lingling replied and lifted her hair, revealing an earring dangling from her left earlobe!

The earring glittered with silver and looked like it was made of diamond.

Ling Feng squinted his eyes and then said: "Can I take a look at it?"

"Sure!"

Mu Lingling reached up, plucked the earring off, and handed it to Ling Feng.

With his Divine Sense, Ling Feng immediately noticed something odd about the item!

Inside the grain-sized diamond-like material, there were strange carved patterns!

Moreover, the diamond itself was hollow, with a black object housed inside.

Because it was so tiny, Ling Feng couldn’t clearly discern what it was; only a microscope could possibly provide clarity.

So he didn’t return the earring to Mu Lingling. Instead, he smiled and said: "Where did you get this? You didn’t buy it yourself, did you?"

"No, my good friend gifted it to me!" Mu Lingling replied.

"Oh? Your good friend, huh? You two are very close?" Ling Feng asked.

Mu Lingling paused, then hesitantly asked: "My condition, does it have something to do with her?"

"Probably, that’s why I want to confirm," Ling Feng nodded.

"That shouldn’t be the case. We’re really good friends!" Mu Lingling said doubtfully.

"If you don’t want to discuss it, I won’t press you. After all, it’s your private matter. But let me keep this earring for a while. I won’t prescribe you any medication, just continue using the detox ointment you had before. In two or three days, you’ll see results!" Ling Feng said.

"Really?"

Mu Lingling was stunned, eyes wide in disbelief. This treatment sounded quite bizarre to her!

"Trust me, it only takes two or three days!" Ling Feng reassured her with a nod.

"Alright then!"

Mu Lingling had no better options, so she nodded, then stood up and said: "Thank you, Mr. Ling!"

"You’re welcome." Ling Feng replied calmly.

Tang Xiaoqian immediately interjected: "Lingling, it’s so late—let me walk you home!"

"There’s no need; I can go back myself. It’s not far!" Mu Lingling quickly said.

"Even if it’s not far, it’s still not safe. You’re a young woman, and there are several single men in the village who drool when they see you. How could I be at ease?"

Tang Xiaoqian said firmly, grabbing her hand and heading outside.

Ling Feng thought to himself, "I might as well join them instead of staying here awkwardly," and followed along.

The three of them left the house and departed from Tang Xiaoqian’s place.

After walking forward a few dozen meters and turning a corner, they reached the primary school’s gate. Mu Lingling unlocked it and went into her dormitory classroom.

After hearing the sound of the door closing, Ling Feng and Tang Xiaoqian turned and left together.

Nothing was spoken on the road. When they returned home and closed the door, Tang Xiaoqian suddenly threw herself into Ling Feng’s arms!

Seeing this, Ling Feng didn’t hold back. He lowered his head to kiss her, his hands wandering mischievously.

Embraced together, the two toppled onto the bed. Tang Xiaoqian’s breath grew hurried, her gaze turned misty, and a string of teardrops slipped from the corners of her eyes.

Ling Feng was taken aback by this sight. He paused and asked in confusion: "Sis, what’s wrong?"

"N-nothing. I just—I’m not sure if what I’m doing is right." Tang Xiaoqian avoided his eyes and turned her head away.

"Uh..." Ling Feng froze, the flame in his chest extinguished instantly.

He chuckled and then said: "It does feel like things are moving a bit fast!"

From the moment they met until now, it had only been twelve hours—and yet they were already close to crossing a deeply intimate boundary.

Tang Xiaoqian, though long removed from any romantic intimacy, was still a village woman with traditional beliefs who wasn’t completely liberated.

It was only because of a subtle flirtation with Ling Feng that her long-repressed desires had surged uncontrollably. Suddenly overwhelmed, she now felt slightly frightened.

Ling Feng could understand her conflicted emotions, so he smiled and said: "Sis, let’s just lay here and chat for a while."

"Mm, thank you."

Tang Xiaoqian, aware that her indecisive behavior might irk others, felt surprised when Ling Feng didn’t mind and was considerate instead.

The fact that he could restrain himself in such circumstances demonstrated his self-control. This man, she realized, was no ordinary person.

Tang Xiaoqian turned back and snuggled into Ling Feng’s embrace. She then asked: "About Lingling—that situation, have you figured it out?"

"Yes. I’ll examine that earring later; the issue lies with that little item for sure!" Ling Feng replied.

"Won’t it be dangerous for you to keep it on you?" Tang Xiaoqian asked.

"Not at all!"

Ling Feng smiled: "Something small like that can trouble ordinary people, but it poses no threat to me whatsoever!"

"Then tell me... why would her friend want to harm Lingling?" Tang Xiaoqian asked, apprehensive.

Ling Feng sighed bitterly: "That’s hard to say. The human heart is the hardest thing to predict. On the surface, they appear as friends, but secretly, she must hold some sort of grudge against Mu Lingling over something."

"My god!"

Tang Xiaoqian shivered and exclaimed softly: "How terrifying people’s hearts can be!"

"You’re absolutely right."

Ling Feng held her shoulder and smiled helplessly.

The two embraced for a moment, the house falling silent for a short while before Tang Xiaoqian asked: "Who exactly are you?"

"Haven’t you heard of my name? By now, I should count as a minor celebrity in Tang Family Village!" Ling Feng chuckled.
