Chapter 1017: Being Interrogated

Chapter 1017: Being Interrogated

The classroom was dead silent; no one answered Ling Feng’s question.

At that moment, the advisor spoke up: "Regardless of who sent the message, do you admit that you had a conflict with Mao Guoqiang?"

Ling Feng shook his head: "Why should I admit it? There was no fighting, no arguing, so does that count as a conflict?"

"No matter what, this incident is somewhat related to you. Don’t go anywhere today; I need to explain the situation to the police!" the advisor said loudly.

"Fine, go ahead and tell them. If it’s proved that I caused Mao Guoqiang’s death, I wonder how beneficial that would be for the school’s reputation. Will you then be able to shake off the blame?" Ling Feng asked with a laugh.

"You!"

The advisor was startled upon hearing this and was at a loss for words, only managing to glare at Ling Feng before quickly leaving.

Ling Feng chuckled and turned to look at the entire class, unable to resist saying: "Impressive, it seems there are staunch supporters of Mao Guoqiang here. But rest assured, his life is of no value to me. You can forget about framing me!"

The whole situation was already mysterious, and now someone was secretly stirring up trouble, making Ling Feng feel that things were even more complicated.

Turning around to leave the classroom, he quickly caught up with the advisor who was heading towards the office area.

Before the other person could turn around, Ling Feng grabbed his shoulder and asked during his moment of surprise: "Who sent you that message?"

"What are you doing?"

A look of astonishment flashed in the advisor’s eyes as he asked loudly.

Through the Mind Soul Art, he saw a name flash through the advisor’s mind, Ling Feng was also startled, then smiled and said: "Nothing, just asking, hahaha!"

"I warn you not to mess around. You’re a potential suspect until the investigation is clear!" the advisor stated.

"Alright, I understand!" Ling Feng nodded.

After the advisor left in a hurry, Ling Feng frowned and fell into deep thought!

The person who sent the message turned out to be Gao Xiaobao!

This guy had been quite nice to him from the start, but unexpectedly he had stabbed him in the back at this time. What was going on?

The matter of Mao Guoqiang drowning was shrouded in fog, and Ling Feng was caught in the middle of it, unsure of how to seek the answers.

Perhaps he should delve into Gao Xiaobao’s thoughts to find out something?

Thinking of this, Ling Feng turned around and headed back to the teaching building.

But as soon as he arrived, he suddenly sensed something falling from the sky and immediately dodged.

Then, with a loud bang, someone landed on the ground.

The surrounding students cried out in shock, but Ling Feng rushed over, only to see Gao Xiaobao with blood flowing from all orifices, already dead.

"Fuck!"

Ling Feng cursed secretly. Could it be such a coincidence?

He looked up at the several-story tall teaching building, his thoughts thrown into chaos!

...

...

At five o’clock in the afternoon, the police found Ling Feng.

The two parties met in a conference room at the school, and after sitting down, the leading officer said, "I’m Zhou Zheng, the chief detective of the Southern District Bureau of the city. You’re Ling Feng, right?"

"That’s me." Ling Feng nodded.

Zhou Zheng hummed, then asked, "Where were you from noon until three o’clock this afternoon?"

"I was by the artificial lake until Gao Xiaobao called me just before noon. After learning about Mao Guoqiang’s accident, I went to the lakeside!" Ling Feng answered.

"During that time, were you alone? Was there anyone with you?" Zhou Zheng asked.

Ling Feng thought for a moment, intending to leave Chen Yan out of it so as not to cause her any trouble, but with several school teachers present, he felt it wasn’t the time to reveal his identity. So he said, "No, there was a girl with me!"

"Oh? What’s her name and which department is she from?"

Zhou Zheng asked, jotting down notes on a piece of paper.

Ling Feng sighed inwardly, then replied, "Chen Yan, from the English department. I’m not too clear about her class."

"Can she confirm that you were on the rockery the whole time and never left?" Zhou Zheng inquired.

"Not many cars, but around one o’clock she said she had class in the afternoon and left first. I was alone on the rockery for the rest of the time," Ling Feng said.

Zhou Zheng frowned and lifted his head to ask, "What were you doing there by yourself?"

"Uh, spacing out, enjoying the scenery," Ling Feng replied.

Hearing this answer, Zhou Zheng grunted in acknowledgment, then turned to a schoolteacher, "Can you please fetch Chen Yan?"

"I’ll go ask."

The teacher stood up and left. Zhou Zheng looked at Ling Feng again, "Do you know when Mao Guoqiang had his accident?"

"Not sure, it seemed to be in the afternoon?" Ling Feng said.

"The exact time of death is 1:30 pm. At that time, Chen Yan wasn’t at the scene, so you still can’t clear your suspicion," Zhou Zheng said, watching Ling Feng’s eyes, attempting to discern any hint of guilt.

But Ling Feng remained calm, subtly nodding, "I know, but I’m not here to explain my innocence, just to cooperate with your investigation and account for my whereabouts."

"Yes, right now you’re cooperating, not yet considered a suspect," Zhou Zheng nodded.

At this moment, Ling Feng took control, asking, "The incident with Gao Xiaobao shouldn’t have anything to do with me, right?"

"Based on the investigation, you were downstairs when his accident occurred, so you’re basically off the hook," Zhou Zheng replied.

"And afterwards? Have you figured out why he fell from the building?" Ling Feng pressed on.

"We’re still investigating that. There’s no conclusion yet!"

Zhou Zheng said that and then widened his eyes in surprise, "Hey? How did the tables turn and you started questioning me?"

"Nothing, I just arrived at this school, and he was the first person I got to know. I didn’t expect something to happen to him so soon!" Ling Feng responded.

"Two lives have been lost in succession. Aren’t you surprised at all?" Zhou Zheng questioned.

"I am surprised, but I believe the police will figure out the culprit, and then we’ll all know what happened, right!" Ling Feng stated.

Zhou Zheng nodded, giving Ling Feng a deep look, "Not bad, well said!"

The more Ling Feng spoke like this, the more Zhou Zheng felt he was too composed, which made him even more suspicious!

After a while, Chen Yan followed a teacher into the conference room, looking bewildered. Her eyes widened further at the sight of the scene.

"Don’t be nervous. We just want to ask you something. Where were you this noon?" Zhou Zheng asked.

Chen Yan answered truthfully, exactly as Ling Feng had described.

After the questioning, Zhou Zheng closed his notebook, stood up and said to Ling Feng, "That’s all for today. Keep your phone turned on for the next couple of days; the police might still need to contact you!"

Ling Feng nodded, "Okay!"

Everyone dispersed, making their way downstairs.

Chen Yan followed behind Ling Feng for a while before asking, "You didn’t kill that person, did you?"
