The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 1000: The Pig is Lost

Chapter 1000: The Pig is Lost

Ling Feng finished speaking and then turned his head to look at Scalper: "Can you take me to your house for a look?"

"Ah?"

Scalper was dumbfounded, glanced blankly at Li Futian, not knowing whether he should agree or not!

Li Futian was also stunned and then smiled at Ling Feng: "Boss Ling, Scalper’s house is as messy as a pigsty, better not go there. Come sit at my place instead!"

"It’s okay, a cattle farmer’s home being a bit messy is normal. I’m from the village too, so I really understand this!"

Ling Feng smiled and then said to Scalper, "Please lead the way!"

Seeing that Ling Feng was insistent on going, Scalper had no choice but to nod his head.

The villagers, hearing that Ling Feng was going to his house, were also very curious, so they all followed.

Li Futian walked beside Ling Feng and asked with a puzzled look, "Boss Ling, why do you want to go to Scalper’s house?"

"Just to have a look. Didn’t you say that something was trying to steal cattle? I want to see what that thing is!" Ling Feng said with a smile.

"Boss Ling really has a warm heart, to care even about such a small matter," Li Futian exclaimed in admiration.

Ling Feng knew he was just flattering him, smiled, said nothing, and followed Scalper into the village.

Xiao Chi Village is not big, having only seventy or eighty households, so they quickly passed through most of the village and arrived at Scalper’s house.

It was a large courtyard with a cattle pen inside; the scared yellow cattle had all returned.

Before Ling Feng asked, Scalper proactively said, "That dark thing just suddenly rushed in and grabbed my calf and tried to run off!"

"How big was it?" asked Ling Feng.

"Like a seven- or eight-year-old child, but it seemed to have several arms!" said Scalper.

To corroborate his words, he specifically looked at Mrs. Wang, "Isn’t that right?"

"What I saw wasn’t like that. What I saw had a fish’s tail and a pair of wings on its back!" Mrs. Wang said.

Ling Feng: "..."

He was a bit confused and looked at them, "Are you sure you saw the same thing?"

"Yeah, I was inside the house, and Mrs. Wang was on the neighbor’s rooftop. I only came out after hearing her shouts!" Scalper said earnestly.

"The same thing seen at the same time could have two different appearances?"

Ling Feng was also mystified, unable to understand.

"Perhaps it was an illusion. Mind Soul Art, when it’s at a high level, is capable of projecting different images into other people’s minds," Yu Linglong said.

"Could it be that the thing that stole the cattle knows how to do this?" asked Ling Feng.

Yu Linglong shook her head, "I was just making a comparison, perhaps it’s some special skill? Some sort of survival technique of a creature."

Ling Feng nodded, feeling that what she said made sense, then asked Scalper again, "Where did that thing run off to later?"

"I chased it ahead, and it went into the forest and then I couldn’t see anymore!" Scalper pointed across the courtyard.

Ling Feng turned around and saw a poplar forest opposite, blocked from view by a lot of piled firewood.

So, he had no choice but to continue asking, "What’s beyond the forest?"

"It’s the pond, oh, it should be called a lake now!" Scalper said.

"Oh."

Ling Feng nodded, now having a plan in mind.

From the looks of it, that thing likely came from the water!

So he turned his head, intending to check the lakeside to see if he could discover anything, but just then, an urgent cry came from the village!

People were all taken aback, turning around and running towards the direction of the cries, only to see a blur as two figures instantly disappeared in front of them!

Everyone was startled and stopped in their tracks, frozen in place, and then realized that Ling Feng and Yu Linglong were gone!

By now, the two had already reached the place from whence the cries came. It was a household in the middle of the village, where a woman in her thirties was standing at the doorway, loudly cursing!

Suddenly, a figure flashed before her eyes and the woman, finding two people standing in front of her, was immediately scared into silence.

"What’s happened?" Ling Feng asked with a stern voice.

"You, are you humans or ghosts?" The woman, looking terrified, asked nervously.

"We are humans. What are you cursing about here?" Ling Feng frowned and asked.

"My pig has been stolen, more than two hundred pounds, it was not easy to raise!" the woman said.

Ling Feng immediately understood, the thief had failed to steal a calf and had moved to stealing someone else’s pig!

That thing must really be greedy!

"Don’t curse now. Where is the pigsty? Take me to see!" Ling Feng said.

The woman hesitated for a moment, sizing him up: "Who are you?"

"This is Mr. Ling of Shiliu Village, Li Erhong, you nag, what are you cursing about in broad daylight!" Li Futian, who rushed over in haste, shouted loudly.

"Old Li, are you asking for a slap? Who are you calling a nag? I don’t care if he’s Mr. Zero or Mr. One..."

Li Erhong was halfway through her sentence when she suddenly paused, then turned to Ling Feng: "Are you from Shiliu Village?"

"Yes!" Ling Feng nodded.

"Is your surname Ling?" Li Erhong asked tremulously.

Ling Feng nodded again: "Correct!"

"This...."

Li Erhong was puzzled.

Of course, she also knew of Ling Feng’s reputation. She had once followed to see what was happening in Shiliu Village, but Ling Feng had always been busy, hardly showing his face, so the people from Xiao Chi Village hadn’t seen him.

Now, seeing the person himself, Li Erhong’s fierce temperament suddenly retracted!

Lowering her head, she carefully said: "I didn’t know it was you..."

Ling Feng smiled: "No matter, now take me to see the pigsty. I want to know what stole your pig. It’s unlikely I can help you retrieve it, but we should at least catch the culprit, right?"

"Okay, okay!"

Li Erhong hesitated for a moment, still not understanding why Mr. Ling of Shiliu Village was interested in solving this case, but she immediately turned and entered the courtyard.

Ling Feng and Yu Linglong followed her, and after entering the courtyard, they walked towards the back, between the main house and the wing.

This was a small pigsty, now completely empty, the two hundred pound pig had vanished.

Ling Feng glanced at the ground of the pigsty and noticed a drag mark extending towards the corner of the wall.

"What’s outside the wall?" he asked, turning around.

"It’s the village’s public road, people walk there every day!" Li Futian said from the side.

Ling Feng grunted, leaped directly onto the wall, and then saw that there was also a drag mark on the road outside!

Judging by the width, it was probably left by the dragged pig!

Seeing this, Ling Feng turned back to the crowd and said: "Wait here, I’ll be right back!"

After speaking, he landed on the ground and followed the drag mark!

Moments later, he reached the poplar forest on the south side of the village, and thankfully, there were plenty of dead branches and fallen leaves here, so the trail didn’t break, allowing Ling Feng to follow it all the way to the lakeside.
