Chapter 84: Just try not to fall in love so soon
"Mmmhn~..." Elena didn’t answer right away, her hazel eyes scanning the surroundings with a pensive expression.
There wasn’t much to see in Goldenveil, honestly.
Few streets, a small population.
The only thing that caught her attention was the barracks, where guards practiced on the open training ground, moving through forms she recognized immediately.
"Is that imperial fencing?" she asked with genuine curiosity, turning her brown eyes to Ethan.
"Yes. Doran is the captain of the guard and was a martial arts instructor in the Fallen Sun Empire. Would you like to meet him?"
"Everything in good time. Take me for a walk first." A graceful giggle escaped her rosy lips. "After twelve thousand years of death, I need to stretch my legs a bit."
It had all passed in the blink of an eye for her, yet she couldn’t help but feel old.
With a smile, Ethan guided her along the path leading to Lake Azur, just over two kilometers from Goldenveil.
"Is this where you wish to expand Goldenveil?" Elena asked, walking across the uneven terrain still littered with stumps and holes left by felled trees.
"To the opposite side. Here, I only plan to establish a port on Lake Azur for now." His arm slipped from her grip as she moved ahead on her own, taking the lead.
It took only a few minutes before the muddy forest ground gave way to a wide expanse of snow-white sand.
Elena closed her eyes, placing both hands over her large, heavy breasts and letting the sweet, cool breeze wash over her creamy skin.
The faint sweat that had gathered was quickly cooled by the gentle wind rolling off the lake.
"Honestly..." She opened her eyes, her gaze drifting across the orther bank of the Solene river and Lake Azur, which stretched far beyond what the eye could follow.
"Setting aside the dense, hard-to-expand forest, Goldenveil is truly blessed. If we can control this canal and secure the land passage, we’ll likely make a fortune just by charging tolls on merchant ships."
"I know." Ethan nodded.
"Then why do you wish to expand to the opposite side instead of focusing here first?" she asked.
She wasn’t disagreeing. She just didn’t know that land well enough yet to form her own opinion, and she was curious what had led him to that decision.
"Resources," Ethan replied, taking her hand again. "Come with me and I’ll show you."
Elena said nothing, her delicate fingers intertwining with his as she followed him in silence, through Goldenveil and then north.
It wasn’t like Ethan to stray so far without his guard, but today he made an exception.
After another three kilometers, they stopped before a massive rock formation that rose until it pierced the clouds, marking the base of the Eternal Mountains.
Elena was confused at first, but a brief scan of the terrain was all it took to tell her something was wrong.
She let go of his hand and ran forward, her enormous breasts bouncing, the soft flesh surging with each impact against the ground.
Reaching the foot of the mountain, she leaned forward and pressed her palms flat against the hot stone warmed by the sun, fingers spread wide across the rough surface.
The motion lifted her buttocks, the fabric of her dress pulling taut against her large, rounded orbs, the full curves straining against the cloth, offering Ethan a generous view.
Elena gasped softly, spreading her mana further and further across the stone’s surface.
Though she had never been fond of battle, she was still a third-stage mage, with vast reserves of mana and senses far beyond those of an ordinary person.
After a long moment, she stepped back, her movements slightly unsteady.
Her eyes closed briefly, her short black hair swaying in the breeze sweeping through the forest.
"There’s a magical vein here... and a powerful one." She turned to Ethan, eyes faintly wide. "Who else knows about this?"
That vein felt even stronger than the one beneath the capital of the Fallen Sun Empire.
How had such a treasure stayed hidden in a region this isolated? And how had Ethan found it?
"Just you and me," he replied.
A quiet sigh of relief left her lips.
"You plan to build your main palace here, correct?" She already knew the answer, but asked anyway.
Ethan’s lips parted to reply, then he froze.
His eyes widened as a system notification arrived.
[Warning! The Goblin attack on Goldenveil will begin at any moment; organize your defenses and prepare!]
"Hey, what are you..." Elena’s words dissolved into a soft, surprised moan as she felt his hands reach out. "Nghnn~"
His right forearm pressed firmly against her back, his hand closing around one of her huge, dark, juicy tits, fingers sinking deep into the yielding flesh.
His free arm slid under her legs, and when he straightened, Elena was already in his arms, carried like a princess, her large breasts jiggling with the sudden lift.
"I’m sorry, Miss Elena, but we need to get out of here quickly, and your tight dress isn’t suitable for running." His voice was calm but serious.
Elena’s hands moved with an unhurried elegance over his shoulders, her long, delicate fingers lacing together behind his neck.
Without hesitation, Ethan burst into a sprint.
"Hm... My lord is quite a cheeky young man, fufufu~~" Elena laughed, her voice low, mature and entirely unbothered.
It was difficult to believe that his grip on her enormous breasts had been anything but intentional.
She turned her face slightly toward his, and despite the anxious tension plain on his expression, not a shred of her grace faltered.
"If you weren’t so handsome, I could bite you for touching me this way..."
"I know." He quickened his pace. "Just try not to fall in love so soon. I’m not yet capable of resisting the charms of such a beautiful woman."
Another laugh, full of warmth and amusement, escaped her rosy lips.
