"My greatest ambition?" Ethan scratched his chin.
Honestly, he didn’t know how to answer that.

It was strangely pleasant to be near her, though not in the same way it was pleasant to be with Evelyn and Alice.

Every movement carried elegance, a grace Ethan rarely saw even among the high nobility of his former kingdom.
Her gaze was always filled with welcoming tenderness, and her voice was mature and sensual without ever crossing into the obscene, making him relax without him even noticing.

"Goldenveil will grow even more, much more." Ethan walked to a shelf and pulled out the map of the settlement’s surroundings. "So what I truly need is a mind capable of controlling that growth."
In silence, Elena followed him to the desk where he unfolded the map.
She leaned over the tabletop, both hands gripping the wood’s edge.

"Yes." Ethan nodded, taking her hand.
Elena’s rosy lips curved, and she linked her arm with his, leaning warmly against his side.

"Not even close," she replied honestly.
She had never seen such a handsome man in her entire life.
"Shall we?" she asked, changing the subject, a subtle blush spreading gracefully across her high cheekbones.
