Chapter 394
Chapter 394
Michelle continued in her training as Lucas set up the last machine.
And the balls of spirit energy from the second machine flew at her so fast she could barely react.
Even though she could dodge direct hits, each ball at least grazed her from the back or front, not only burning, but even making her bleed.
She had to speed up.
Also, with her front burned and bleeding, the strikes from the first machine were landing right on the open wound, making her hiss in pain.
Michelle didn’t want to imagine how terrible it would all be for her if she didn’t have the Everfrost Mantle on.
And luckily, Alexander had reinforced it for her so it wouldn’t break under the strikes.
Lucas, even from the distance, could see just how often the strikes landed on or grazed Michelle, so he knew she wasn’t taking it well.
But, still unaware of her ice element, he didn’t know just how much it stung her.
So, he naturally assumed that if he started up the last machine, it would force Michelle to improve herself, speeding up her training.
And, naturally, even into that machine, he put spirit stones of fire element.
Actually, most training techniques that required spirit stones (especially going against strikes from the spirit stones) used spirit stones of the same element.
So, it wasn’t all that unusual that Lucas was only using the fire element spirit stones.
It would have actually been more unusual if he had been using spirit stones of different elements in the training.
But, honestly, Michelle wouldn’t have been surprised even by that with how eccentric all the teachers in the Academy were.
It would have been no surprise if Lucas used methods and techniques completely different than other teachers all over the realms used.
She wouldn’t even have been surprised if he used completely contradictory methods.
Unfortunately, or luckily, that wasn’t the case with the spirit stones.
Lucas was using the rule of all the other teachers in his training method.
After a while, Lucas turned up the last machine, setting it to shoot in different intervals from the shots of both the first and second machines, the one at the front and the one at the opposite side.
When that was done, Lucas stayed around.
He was initially planning to leave, but seeing that Michelle was having some trouble even with only the second machine being able to harm her, he decided to stay around.
In case something went wrong.
Michelle remained in the handstand position, dodging the attacks.
She really didn’t plan to stop moving.
Her ears were perked up, listening to any sound of strikes coming at her.
While Lucas was setting up the last machine, she had somewhat gotten used to the new flying speed of the strikes, so they were no longer grazing her as much as before, but that didn’t mean she was safe.
The moment the second one started shooting at her, she would definitely get struck a good few times.
So, at the moment, only her left side was in a nasty state with direct strikes to it, but in a while, her right side would be in the same state.
But she was determined not to let it knock her down.
She wouldn’t fall.
She would push through it.
And Michelle’s guesses were right.
The moment the first strike shot, she knew she would be unable to dodge it.
She ended up with a nasty strike in her right side.
And throughout the rest of the day, she got hit a good few times more, until she was lying down on the ground, the machines turned off.
"Is it that bad?" Lucas was standing above her with a raised brow.
From his point of view, she didn’t look all that terrible.
She did have some nasty burns around her waist, and they were even bleeding and with blisters within them.
But, since he didn’t know of her ice element, to him it looked like ordinary burns, though a bit serious.
But a single healing pill or some salve could solve that.
But the thing about being hit with counter‑element spirit energy was that it could leave remnants in the wounds, which could cause prolonged trouble.
The remnants left the body slowly.
Actually, all attacks using spirit energy could leave spirit remnants in the wounds, but the only relevant ones were the counter‑element spirit remnants because they had some effect.
"It’s fine..." Michelle slowly sat up on the ground, looking down at her waist.
The bottom of her shirt was completely burned away, turning the shirt into a crop‑top.
But with the burns everywhere on the exposed skin, it just looked disturbing.
"Go get yourself some pills from the healers and go rest. If it doesn’t heal until tomorrow, you don’t have to come back. But the day after tomorrow, you have to be here even if it is still bleeding." Lucas finally spoke again.
Michelle nodded, getting up.
As she did, she took hold of the little snake.
The little one had been right next to her while she was lying and sitting on the ground.
After leaving the training grounds, Michelle didn’t conceal herself, so some gazes went her way, clearly seeing the burns on her waist.
And some of the gazes were also because people remembered that she was the student who was rumored to be in a relationship with the new guest teacher.
Which was true and Michelle was the one to spread the gossip.
Still, she ignored the gazes and went to the healer facility where she was quickly given a small vial with a few pills.
Michelle actually wasn’t planning on using the pills, but if she didn’t get any, Lucas could get suspicious about her healing abilities when she healed thanks to the Spirit Soul Blood.
Of course, she could say she had some pills from her father, that was easy to assume, but that would also raise the questions about Vincent’s supply of pills.
He wasn’t a Pill Master, and though giving a few pills to his daughter wouldn’t be all that suspicious, if Michelle used that excuse too much, people would get suspicious.
So, every time Michelle did something that would suggest the usage of pills, she made sure it seemed like she got the pills from somewhere in the Academy.
Just so the "pills from her father" excuses wouldn’t accumulate.
After leaving the healer facility, Michelle lazily walked towards the dormitory.
But before she could get there, a figure appeared behind her, a hand wrapping around her waist from behind.
A hiss escaped her mouth, the arm pressing on the wounds.
"Well, I didn’t want to hurt you," Alexander lifted her up from the ground, holding her in his arms.
"Your teacher really is pushing you in the training," he spoke lazily, so to the students listening in, it sounded like a normal conversation.
But Michelle could tell that Alexander was highly unhappy with the state she was in.
And he also obviously disliked her way of training.
Michelle shifted in Alexander’s arms so the position wouldn’t pull on the burns on her waist.
"The training benefits me a lot," she said with a lazy yawn.
With Alexander around, she could relax anytime.
She didn’t do it that often (she was the kind of person who always remained on guard) but she could do it.
With Michelle in his arms, Alexander (disregarding the students around) just kicked into the ground and traveled through the Academy at a speed the students could barely catch with their eyes.
And that wasn’t even the highest speed he could achieve; he just didn’t want the wind from the movement to irritate Michelle’s wounds.
In just a few seconds, the two were in Alexander’s room.
"You really plan to continue training like that? Fighting the fire element?" Alexander asked as he set Michelle down on the bed.
"Yes!" Michelle didn’t elaborate on the answer.
Alexander was smart enough to understand on his own her reasons.
He also understood her well enough.
"You know that with counter‑element spirit energy in your system, the healing will be slower," Alexander pointed out.
"I’m well aware..." Michelle pulled him to sit next to her so she could lean on his shoulder.
She was tired from all the training, and the wounds (or rather one big wound) around her waist were making it even worse.
"That’s actually better. If I healed too fast, people would get suspicious. You know how many people saw me with the burn today."
Alexander felt like wrapping his arm around Michelle, but that would mean touching her wound and that would hurt her.
Alexander was no gentle man, but he much more enjoyed messing with Michelle and angering her than making her wounds worse.
That he considered very much crude.
Of course, if Michelle was an enemy, he wouldn’t mind being crude.
To enemies, even worse than crude was invited.
But to Michelle, he wouldn’t be crude.
So, Alexander kept his hands to himself as Michelle continued leaning against him.
She looked like she could fall asleep any moment, but she didn’t want to lay down.
That would irritate the wounds.
So, Alexander was made into her personal pillow and stabilizer for the night.
