Chapter 165: The dance 1
Chapter 165: The dance 1
An airship with the Darkfell sigil was cruising through the atmosphere at immense speeds, and the sole occupant of it stood in the cockpit as an island city appeared in the distance.
The sole occupant was Damon of course. It had been approximately nine hours since he left the Darkfell Garden, and had been cruising through the air nonstop. He entered the left the Vorde continent around three hours ago and entered the Remea continent two hours ago.
And it was only now that he saw the island city widely known as the Necron capital on the horizon. Damon slowed down the airship’s cruising speed in tandem as he approached the capital.
As soon as the airship entered the capital’s airspace however, several airships suddenly rose up at fast speeds and surrounded Damon’s airship.
Several soldiers wearing armor stood on the deck of those airships. A noticeable middle aged man with hardened features stepped forward and flew up before Damon’s airship.
"Speak. What is your purpose here?"
"Since when did a prince of the Darkfell Empire have to speak his purpose to mere guards like yourselves?" Damon’s voice rang out from within the airship as he projected his voice with aether.
Though Damon knew the man was merely doing his job, he couldn’t just bow and speak of his purpose. Plus, the way the man arrogantly posed his question kind of pissed Damon off. Well if he was being honest, it was just kind of fun to do it.
Damon watched as their expressions changed from arrogance, to subtle caution upon coming to be in the know of his identity, and the tone in which he spoke.
Though the city guards had noticed the Darkfell sigil on the airship, they didn’t for sure knew if it was a member of the royal family who was the occupant, or it was simply an envoy.
Still, they were the city guards of the capital of the Necron Empire, a similar powerhouse to the Darkfell Empire. They quickly composed themselves, before the man floating before Damon’s airship spoke.
"I apologize for my earlier tone of speaking, Your highness." The man said politely. "I am , the commander of the capital’s city guards."
"I care not for who you are."Damon retorted sharply. "Take me to someone of equal status." Damon was well versed at being arrogant and condescending if he wanted to be.
"This..." The commander was taken back by the tone at which the prince spoke. "I’m afraid most of the people who could speak to you are not around at the moment. You should know that the Ivos Gala..."
"What about the rest then?" Damon cut him off.
"The only one present is the second princess, I do not know if you would be willing to speak with her." The man said.
"Take me to this ’second princess’s then. I would very well be willing to speak with her." Damon replied in a tone that suggested he didn’t know the second princess. He could see the city guards, but they couldn’t see him due to the unique cases of airships. From the cockpit, one could see the outside as if the front wall was glass. But from the outside, all one would see was wood, or whatever the airship was made of.
The commander waved all the remaining airships away, and gestured for Damon to follow after him, as the man flew by himself. From his aura, Damon could tell the man was a Delta ranked aetherial.
In the distance, Damon could see the appearance of the Necron villa. The Necron villa was a castle that looked more like a beach villa. It stood on top of a massive lake and was like an island on itself.
Damon and the man soon reached the massive coast that separated the villa from the rest of the land. However, the commander was forced to stop as a cloaked figure appeared before him.
The two conversed for a bit, or at least that was how it looked like to Damon. Only the commander was speaking. After the city guards commander was done, the cloaked figure merely tilted his head looking past the commander, and at Damon’s airship, before disappearing as quickly as he had appeared.
’Hidden guards.’ Damon thought. The cloaked figure was just like the guards hidden all around the Darkfell garden, and would only if the matter was serious.
After the cloaked figure disappeared, the commander descended down towards the Necron villa, and Damon followed.
"The princess is being notified of your arrival, your highness." the commander spoke, then disappeared from his spot and stood to the side, planning to watch how the encounter with the second princess and this arrogant prince would go.
Damon meanwhile, began to descend the airship. Unlike how he usually jump off an airship from the deck, Damon chose to do it properly this time, and gracefully use the ladder/ stairs.
As Damon descended the airship with graceful steps, A bunch of servants approached the airship trailing behind a certain someone. She walked with the grace of a swan, and the ladies following behind her like her ducklings.
"Took you long enough." A melodious voice sounded from the other side of the airship. One that Damon recognized very much well. A few steps and a turn, allowed Damon to come within the sight of the owner of the voice.
As soon as Damon set eyes on her, his breath unknowingly became held. He could have sworn he had never seen a sight this beautiful in both lives.
Anastasia stood there wearing an elegant black dress that outlined her figure but didn’t reveal too much. Her vivid scarlet hair held by a brooch behind her head fell in loose waves around her shoulders and back.
And her face, those exquisite features, with a set of high cheekbones, a slim nose, and juicy rosy lips, it was if her face had been sculpted by the gods themselves. She didn’t need any make up to outshine every male and female alike at the Gala.
’Was she always this otherworldly?’ Damon thought. The answer was yes. Damon had always knew she was this otherworldly, he just hadn’t really noticed or was maybe just being biased about it until now.
’She’s perfect.’ A thought unknowingly popped up in Damon’s head. However his thought were soon broken by Anastasia’s words.
"I know I am dressed to impress, but is there really a need to stare this much?" Anastasia smiled teasingly.
"Ah yes... I mean no."
Ahem*
Damon coughed to hide his embarrassment, especially when the ladies trailing behind Anastasia were trying to hold themselves back from laughing at his expense and terribly failing.
"We greet your highness."
But Damon was thick skinned of anything. He quickly composed himself and replied to Anastasia.
"You look stunning. The most beautiful sight I have ever gazed upon." he said.
"Why, thank you. A complement from an esteemed prince such as yourself is always welcome." Anastasia smiled, not the least bit flustered like Damon expected.
The ladies behind Anastasia on the other hand were blushing furiously even though they weren’t the ones being complemented.
"Shall we?" Damon offered his hand.
"Of course we shall. Even if I’m still particularly upset that you’re making me waste my favor on this. There were so many options I had for what I could make you do for me." Anastasia said.
"And what are you offering your arm to me for? We are not yet at the Gala." she added.
"I guess we aren’t." Damon muttered not bothered by her refusal. "Okay, let’s go." He turned to climb the airship.
"Safe journey, your highness." The ladies bowed as Damon and Anastasia ascended the airship.
"Are those your handmaidens?" Damon asked as they got on the deck, to which Anastasia nodded. While Damon muttered something to himself. Something about someone having too many servants and being spoiled.
Meanwhile, as Damon and Anastasia met, the commander who escorted Damon here was shocked beyond words. For a split second, his brain refused to move.
’The second princess refused to go to the gala with the rest of the royal family just so she could go with him?!’ he thought gobsmacked. The emperor would not be happy about this, especially if he knew his daughter had a lover. The commander almost pitied the boy, almost.
The reason why it was almost was that It was not like the the Necron emperor could attack the boy. The boys father was known as the Mad emperor after all.
But wait, what about he, the commander of the city guards? He was the one who personally brought the Darkfell prince to the second princess.
He really just got in trouble, didn’t he? The man could only sigh as he watched the airship with the Darkfell sigil brave the horizon.
