Chapter 153: Ivos gala
Chapter 153: Ivos gala
Once all the Darkfell siblings had left the room, Yvonne was the first one to speak.
"They really have grown haven’t they?" Amon turned to her before replying. "Indeed they have."
Seeing the Emperor and Empress begining to talk, the royal guards and servants hurriedly left the dining hall to grant them some much-needed privacy.
Yvonne also turned to him.
"Why did you order for ’him’ to be brought back without me knowing?" She asked.
"I am the emperor, am I not?" Amon replied coolly. "Since when do I need your permission to issue an order?"
Yvonne’s eyes turned to slits.
"What... did you say?" her eyes glowed sinisterly as the entire expanse of the grand dining hall instantly turned into a frozen wasteland. That was the power of a Beta+ ranked aetherial. She hadn’t even thought of doing that, or willed to do that, but just a slight release of a silver of her aura was enough to freeze the hall.
Amon meanwhile, still sat unfazed at the head of the table. "Hah!" He sighed belatedly. "Are you really going to enact a scene here?"
Yvonne didn’t answer, and kept glaring at him with narrowed eyes.
"Fine." Amon’s baritone voice hummed across the frozen expanse. "Even as the emperor, I do need the permission of the queen of my heart to issue orders, happy?" he smiled at her.
If anyone were to see the Darkfell emperor right now, especially his children, they would be shocked to the core, and wonder if he had been possessed, for they had never seen him smile before. The ones who had seen Amon smile before could be counted on one hand, and even said smile, was the sinister kind, not the warm smile he was showing Yvonne at the moment.
Like an illusion, the frost caking the grand dining hall to mist, before fading away. Amon inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. It was either he brought down Yvonne’s anger, or risked a cold war for the next few days.
"Really? You’re trying to flatter your way out of this?" Yvonne’s eyes narrowed further. Though she said otherwise, from the frost’s disappearance, it seemed like Amon’s attempt at flattering did work.
"I was merely curious as to how his ability suddenly changed, something that was unheard of in the long history of this world." Amon said.
"And you think he’d be willing to talk about it with all the resentment he holds towards us?" Yvonne asked. She had noticed the resentment Damon held towards them increase considerably the moment she saw him.
Amon merely shook his head. "Not unless we force it out of him."
"And... you wouldn’t be willing to go that far would you?" Yvonne asked, her tone having a slight edge to it.
"No I wouldn’t be." Amon lightly shook his head.
"Sigh, sometimes I regret that we have to follow the prophecies of the Oracle Stone." Yvonne sighed.
Amon’s demeanor shifted back to his emperor self. "I’d rather not have to, if there was any other choice, but this a path we must walk to the end."

"Argh! Fuck!"
Entering my room, the first thing I did was kick my study desk in an attempt to vent out some frustration, which from my curse, did not end well for me. The wood was nigh indestructible for someone at my rank after all, so my leg took the brunt of the pain.
Then I shouted out a barrage of curses directed at my family, which I am sure at least the servants outside this room must’ve heard.
After that episode, I let out a wistful sigh, then sat on the bed, my head replaying all that happened earlier in the dining hall.
Tsk! I clicked my tongue. On what basis were they even asking me questions? Weren’t they about to marry me off like a little bride to that shit Whitemore family to strengthen relations and whatnot?
"Heh!" I could help but scoff. Strengthen relations? What was this, a democracy where you have to please people for their votes? This was a fucking monarchy where the emperor held the power. And sure there were other noble families, but there was no power play between factions and whatnot. Why? Because the emperor was a fucking Alpha ranked being.
The blatant lack of attempt to even properly mask the marriage as me being sent off made me fume to no end.
Still, I reigned in my anger and composed myself, lest I become like some of those cultivators who spit mouthfuls of blood out of sheer anger.
After calming myself down, i sat down for some channelling. Ever since I broke through to the Eta+ rank, my technique had been showing signs of being less effective, so I needed to refine it further. If I kept going at this rate, Alistair and Anastasia would have reached the Theta rank by the time I reached the Theta- rank.
And I didn’t want that to happen at any cost. Though, if you look at it, even at this rate, my channelling was most likely faster than even Alistair’s and Anastasia’s. The reason I said most likely, was that there was this bullshit about Alistair’s ability making his channelling easier and faster. Apparently because his ability’s core function was elevating his stats one step higher, it made channelling easier and faster when he was using it.
Which was why, I didn’t just want to be faster, I wanted to be faster than faster.
I had to grow stronger fast, so much that I’ll leave my peers behind. If wishes were horses, I would like to be in the Beta rank three years from now, by the time I graduated from the institute. But I knew that was nigh impossible as even Alistair was only at the Delta- rank during the graduation.
After a few hours of channelling, I laid on my bed as I was already feeling sleepy. In no time, I went to sleep.
The next day.
Bam, Bam, Bam—!!
"Oh, who the fuck is it now?!" Startled by the sudden loud noise that woke me up from my sweet, sweet slumber, I turned to the room’s door and yelled, "Come in!"
The door swung open and in came a butler in a crisp black and white suit. It was the same butler from yesterday.
"You again? Dude, I swear you’ll break the door one day."
Bowing deeply, the butler apologized. "I’m deeply sorry, young highness. Ahh, it’s just that... His Majesty has summoned you to the dining hall for breakfast."
I frowned and cast a gaze at my watch. It was already around [07:03 AM]. Still, wasn’t yesterday’s quarrel at dinner more than enough?
Why was I still summoned for breakfast? I frowned. It seemed like I would have to leave the castle very soon.
Rolling my eyes, I nodded and answered the butler. "Fine. Tell him I’ll be down there in a few minutes."
The butler gasped, his eyes practically bulging out of his sockets at the prospect of me making Emperor Amon Darkfell– the mad emperor– wait for a visit.
"What? Is there a problem?" I asked. However, the butler knew better than to bother me about it. He quickly shook his head, turned around and left the room upon receiving my response.
---------
I entered the dining hall with a little more swagger than yesterday, and went to take my seat under the watchful eyes of everyone present.
After I sat, the head butler immediately gestured for the other servants to begin serving the food.
We all ate in silence with no one uttering a single syllable, not even Emmett.
"In two weeks is the Ivos gala." Amon suddenly spoke while I was in the middle of stuffing my mouth with celestial grade food.
But still, what he said echoed in my mind. The Ivos gala, I hadn’t forgotten about it, in fact I was not sure I could even if I tried, after all, it was a major event in the novel, one happening in two weeks.
The Ivos gala was an event that happened every twenty years. It was an event where the forces of the human domain would gather. But this time, Heretics would debut once again, distract the big league guys, and try to render golden boy permanently unconscious. Though, the main cast managed to fight them off and barely stayed alive. There was an astronomical amount of casualties though. If you thought the casualties in Spira city was much, try a thousand times that amount.
Yep, that was the scale of what was going to happen during the Ivos gala. Honestly at this point, I didn’t even want to attend due to safety reasons, but fuck safety, I could get out if needed.
Meanwhile, Amon continued. "I suppose I do not need to emphasize that you are not to bring this family disgrace during the event."
"Yes, Father." x4.
The four answered except for me. Why? Because I didn’t feel like. It was then that Mother spoke up.
"Also, don’t forget have a date."
"...." I froze. Ah! A date. I did quite forget about that part.
