Chapter 152: Family Dinner 2

Chapter 152: Family Dinner 2

"How did you achieve that? Last I recall, you had Kappa ranked potential." The Emperor finally spoke for the first time since I entered these halls, and worse, his eyes were fixed on me.

"Oh, I very well want to know how you did..." Emmett began with a snicker as he turned to me, however, before he could complete his sentence, he suddenly hurtled back along with his chair at a speed I could barely track, before slamming into the wall so hard that the chair broke into splinters.

Emmett meanwhile Rose from the ground, a noticeable streak of blood running down the sides of his lips. "I do not remember giving you the permission to speak." The emperor turned to him.

"Forgive me, Father." Emmett said, though he still had a noticeable smile on his face. Wiping away the line of blood, he walked back to the dining table, drew out one of the many extra chairs, and set it in his place, before seating down.

Then the Emperor’s cold grey eyes fell back on me. "I asked you as a question, yes?"

I gulped. Before Emmett had spoken, I was about to give a sassy or sarcastic remark, but now that I had seen what happened to him, I dared not do so. Still, the only thing I could do was lie, but even that was dangerous on its own. I was a hundred percent sure Amon would be able to detect lies.

But it wasn’t like I had a choice.

"I trained... very hard." I said. But why were they looking at me like that? My so called siblings were giving me a look that seemed to say; "Really?" Hell even Mother. It wasn’t like I lied or anything. In fact I did train more than very hard. It was how I was able to achieve that.

The only one who looked unamused was the Emperor himself. His cold eyes were still fixed on me, framing his expressionless face. "That does not explain nor answer how your ability changed from an invisible reflection, to making clones." His cold baritone voice hummed in the air.

"Well it doesn’t also explain why I was punished for something I didn’t do!" I didn’t want to snap, at least not this early. The way the Emperor was staring down at me however, ....pissed me off.

Asking me questions left and right like he reserved the right to do so –well as the emperor he technically did have that right–. He had long lost that right the moment he exiled me. At this moment, I wasn’t in my right senses so much that I didn’t care about going against a being who could erase me with a thought.

At my outburst everyone had varying degrees of expressions on their faces. The Emperor continued to stare at me, his expression not betraying a hint of emotion or what he was thinking, while Mother averted her eyes. Rose’s eyes however, was widened to saucers. Ariel had an amused smile on her lips, while Aldrich gave me a stern glare. The bastard next to me however, let out a gasp in faux disbelief.

"Speaking to the Emperor in such a way, that is unbecoming of you brother." Emmett exclaimed. I wanted to retort, but Ariel beat me to it.

"Trying to provoke a reaction in such a way? that is also unbecoming of you brother? Where is the little boy who used to follow me around as a toddler?"

"Oh, you wound me sister, I was merely pointing out what our dear brother did."

"I agree with that." Aldrich- the crown prince finally spoke for the first time. "He shouldn’t have spoken to Father like that."

Right, what did I expect. Aldrich was a chronic worshipper. He literally worshipped the ground Father walked on. In essence, he was a yes man to Father, so of course he would find fault with me.

But I’ll be damned if I let him have it.

"What’s wrong with what I said?" I questioned. "What I stated was simply stated the truth. I was punished for what I didn’t do, wasn’t I?" I asked. "Oh forgive me," I gasped before he could answer. "I simply forgot the fact that you worship the ground the Emperor walks on."

Aldrich’s eyes narrowed in fury, but before he could take any action, an overwhelming pressure bore down on all of us excluding Rose as Amon’s authoritative voice thundered through the hall.

"Stop your quarreling, all of you!"

Aldrich, Ariel, Emmet and myself, our bodies almost touched the table before the pressure boring on us disappeared.

"Forgive me, Father." Emmett and Aldrich curtsied. And Ariel followed with; "I meant no offense, Father."

I on the other hand, couldn’t help but scoff. "Oh, dear Father, you’re intervening in between your children’s quarrel after years of turning a blind eye?"

Silence descended in the hall as I said that, and even the armor-clad royal guards standing there seemed like they wanted to run out of the room.

It was a funny sight. The soldiers of the House Darkfell were known and revered throughout the Darkfell empire. Yet, those fearsome warriors were scared of what was going to transpire in this room.

But even still, I didn’t lose momentum, and striked while the iron was hot. Soon, only my voice reverberated throughout the deafening silence that filled the grandiose dining hall.

"You know, this is the first dinner in years I’m having here!"

Gritting my teeth, I rose from my chair and slowly started walking toward Rose, who looked back at me without a speck of expression on her face.

"I used to be upstairs in my room, crying while listening to you guys talking here! I yearned for you all to look my way and acknowledge my existence! I felt like a stranger in my own home, with no one to talk to!"

Stopping right before Rose, I continued, "And you... You were my sister. And even though you didn’t initially wish to at the start, you made my life a living hell trying to please Father! You had no idea how painful it was for me and how easy you had it!"

Rose averted her eyes, multitudes of emotions running through her face.

"And you!" I faced Emmett. "It must feel nice talking down on me all the time or outright bullying me, isn’t it?"

As I said that, the bastard had the nerve to roll his eyes. If he wasn’t downright stronger than me, I swear I would have punched his face in.

I then turned to Aldrich. "You know, sometimes I wonder what I did to you. For some reason you just seem to dislike me or maybe was it hate? I don’t know which." Since I came to understand the world, I had noticed that Aldrich had a certain dislike for me, and I didn’t even know why.

"And finally, there is you Mother." I turned to face Yvonne whose crystal clear eyes turned to me without a speck of emotion in them.

"I try to hold a back a lot, but whenever I couldn’t, and come running to you crying, your duties as the Empress apparently surpass that of your duties as a Mother."

Anytime I couldn’t hold back my tears, I’d run to her, but I’d be shunned away by; "I’m busy." or "Stop being a child." Like really, what sort of mother was that? since when did an eleven year old stopped being a child?

"And you know the worst thing?" I continued. "Everything got simultaneously worse after my awakening. And the funny thing?" I chuckled wryly. "After I changed, all of you were always yapping, talking about how incompetent I was or how much of a disgrace I was to the oh so great Darkfell family, but you all, were the architects behind what I became."

For a long moment, the hall ushered in silence however, a snicker soon echoed as Emmet stood from his chair.

"So you were ignored because you were weak? Well, boo hoo! And I bullied and looked down on you, so what? In this family and in this world, strength is all that determines your worth. You were weak, so you only have yourself to blame." He smirked.

I immediately opened my mouth to retort, however before I could even formulate the first word, an obliterating pressure rolled throughout the hall. The hall began to terribly quake in protest under the overbearing aura.

Both Emmett and I fell to our knees, and for a moment I thought I was going to die. It wasn’t until a soft voice rose, "Do not bring down my home, Amon!" ...that the pressure disappeared. It was mother who had spoken.

In the next moment, Amon’s baritone voice hummed throughout the hall. "Return to your rooms, all of you."

I gritted my teeth as I got back on my feet. "Tsk, I wasn’t interested in being here anyway." I muttered as I headed for the exit of the grand dining hall.
