Chapter 147: I can’t let you leave

Chapter 147: I can’t let you leave

‎After the instructor vanished, the students began leaving the classroom one after the other or in pairs. Before leaving, Rose stared at me as if she had something to say, but ultimately left without approaching me.

‎Dion and I were amongst the last who stood up to leave the class. As we walked through the hallways, Dion paused. "When are you leaving?" he asked.

‎"I’m leaving today itself, why do you ask?" "Nothing." Dion said, but it seemed like he had more to say. After a short contemplative pause, Dion furrowed his brow and inquired, "By the way, where are you going to go now?"

‎With the students being allowed to go home starting from today, Dion was probably worried about where I’d go to since I had been exiled from the empire.

‎Heaving a sigh, I parted my lips to answer the brown haired playboy. "Well, I was thinking about heading back to the capital."

‎"The Darkfell capital?" Dion looked at me for a few seconds before speaking bluntly, "But weren’t you banished from there?"

‎"So what if I was banished?" I retorted in a somewhat offended tone. "I’m going back to the empire, let’s see who’s going to stop me."

‎"Fine fine, no one’s going to stop you. Infact if anyone does, just kick their asses." Dion grinned.

‎Aftr this little exchange, I decided it was finally time. I was about to leave the Astral Mystic Institute.

‎It felt kind of strange. It’s been... What, two or three months since I transmigrated? And it already felt like I’d been in this institute for a lifetime.

‎Well, it wasn’t like I was leaving for the first time. I left the institute many times before, especially when I took missions. But that and this were two different things. This time, I was leaving for a long time – roughly around three weeks.

‎The first time I witnessed this institute out of the pages of the novel in reality was the day I was struck with a feeling very similar to deja vu. And now, when I was about to leave, I was feeling that very same sense of deja vu again.

‎’Haa! Wait, what am I getting emotional for?!’ "Get it together," I slapped my cheeks and let out a hard breath. "You’re a grown-up, damnit."

‎Yes, I shouldn’t forget that despite the fact that I was in a teenager’s body, and my two personalities were starting already beyond blurred, I was still a grown-up.

‎Maybe it was also the reason I never indulged in Dion’s fantasies in girls. I somewhat felt that they were children. It was kind of ironic really, even back on earth I was somewhat of a man child, and now I was actually in a teenager’s body.

‎And speaking of Dion...

‎"Bro what’s wrong with you?"

‎"What?"

‎"You just slapped your cheeks and muttered something about being a grown up." Dion said.

‎"...So where are you going now?" I changed the topic.

‎"Are you trying to change the topic?" he asked skeptically.

‎’Jeez, he caught on.’ I froze. Just from looking at Dion, one would think this guy is smart, he did have those looks, but the moment he opened his mouth, one would realize how dumb he was.

‎But that was merely a facade... I think. Dion was way more perceptive and cunning than anyone gave him credit for. Still, I regained composite and answered.

‎"No, of course not." I denied such being the case. "Yeah, why would you that." he accepted with a grin, and maybe I was wrong, and he was that much of a fool. Welp, in either case, he didn’t seem like a threat to me, and he was perhaps the only real friend I had made since coming into this world.

‎"I’ll be going back to the Williams estate, get some new girls, and maybe ask my father to train me for a while."

‎I nodded. "Yeah, that’s kind of... Wait for a damn second... Did you say training?! Who the hell are you and what have you done to my friend!"

‎I let out a dramatic gasp and Dion shot me a deadpan glare in return. "You’re acting like I never train."

‎"You do?" I raised an eyebrow. To be honest I had never seen Dion train, safe for during combat classes.

‎"I do!" Dion exclaimed. "I’m just not a training maniac like you! I train modestly... Like an hour or two a day, that’s it."

‎"I’m not a training maniac!" I frowned.

‎"Right," Dion sarcastically scoffed. "Every time I ask you to accompany me or hang out, you are either training or recovering from your training, and you have multiple bodies!"

‎...Well, damn. Maybe I really was a training maniac. Well, it’s not my fault! I lose the flow of time when I’m training!

‎Clearing my throat, I was about to retort but before I could do that, we reached the entrance to the mission hall, and the moment we stepped in, we saw a couple of students standing just before the door.

‎Right in front of us were, Alistair, Elsa, Delilah, and surprisingly, Anastasia.

‎Weird, I was under the assumption that these guys wouldn’t see eye to eye especially with the way Anastasia brutalized Elsa before the entire institute.

‎‎But then a second cross examination at their dynamics made me chuckle. ’Oh, now I see it.’ I mused.

‎Elsa wasn’t particularly looking pleased with Anastasia’s presence, but was masking it well enough that only someone with as great experience as yours truly would grasp that fact.

‎Well, honestly if someone humiliated me before the entire institute, we’d be neck deep in verbal exchanges right now, if I couldn’t beat them that was.

‎Alistair in the other hand, was animatedly communicating with Delilah and Anastasia. ’Simp.’ I simply shook my head. Or was it masochist? Anastasia literally beat his ass and now he was blushing furiously before her.

‎Nay, I could never stoop to such level.

‎Now I understand all the more why the white haired bitch was furious.

‎Anastasia was the first to notice us. She smiled at us and we both walked over to the group. The atmosphere in the mission hall was buzzing more than ever with an exciting energy. It was a given, after all, most students were excited at the prospects of going home.

‎Alistair frowned, before ultimately giving us a short nod. The bitch also greeted us with short nod and shot a furtive glance at me for whatever reason I couldn’t be bothered to figure out.

‎Delilah... merely averted her gaze in an attempt to ignore my presence.

‎Nah, I was lying, I knew why, they hated my guts hehe. Especially when Elsa knew I was the one who asked Anastasia to beat her up. In fact, even as she nodded, I saw the heated glare radiating pure hatred in her eyes, directed at me.

‎Noticing the subtle tension in the air, Anastasia let out a soft giggle and looked around and asked, "So, where are you guys headed?"

‎Alistair was quick to answer.

‎"I asked Elsa to come with me to the Drake estate."

‎"I’m going home." Delilah offered shortly.

‎"I’m also going home." Dion beamed.

‎I refrained from commenting on where I was going for obvious reasons, but I also noticed another detail. Anastasia who poised the question didn’t answer too, but I guessed she was just going home.

‎Soon, the traffic at the teleportation matrix was gone, and we were free to step into it.

‎And right, did I forget to mention that the matrixes were only taking us to the edge of the Astral Mystic island, where we originally entered the institute from?

‎Yeah, for some ungodly reason such was the case. Instead of the matrixes to just transport us to our destination just like during missions, they just transport us to the edge of the island, where we’d have to take airships to our final destinations.

‎As soon as we stepped into the teleportation matrix, a bright flash of light enveloped us, and next thing I knew, the fresh cold air of the sea was hitting me. We were back to the edge of the Astral Mystic island.

‎Just like before, numerous airships hovered opposite the island, but they weren’t nearly as much as before.

‎In fact, I even spotted a certain airship with the insignia of a black rose and a sword on a silver platter.

‎"Alright," I turned to Dion. "This is where we part."

‎"Are you leaving right now?" he asked curious.

‎"Yes, I am leaving immediately." I said before I turned to Anastasia. "See you, insufferable witch." I smiled before turning away.

‎However, the moment I took a single step forward, a voice i recognized quite well boomed.

‎"I’m afraid I can’t let you leave, your highness."
