Chapter 139: Damon vs Anastasia 1

Chapter 139: Damon vs Anastasia 1

‎"ANASTASIA NECRON WINS!"

‎Instructor Lee’s voice reverberated through the starstruck stadium. Almost everyone forgot to let out the breath in their lungs. They just couldn’t process the fact that Anastasia had won against Alistair.

‎Most had this thought in their head that Alistair was at the top of their set. Even though it mostly had to do with the fact that he possessed an Omega ranked physique rather than personal feats. Still, the thought of a guy who was hyped all around Nahaar losing to a girl that popped out of nowhere, even if said girl was a princess, seemed ambiguous.

‎But then again, said girl managed to take first place in the institute’s entrance exam. So, while the crowd was still starstruck, their soon gave way to cheers. The human heart was known for being fickle after all.

‎At the second year’s seating area.

‎-"So the so called crown jewel of the generation, the one with the Omega ranked physique is nothing special."

‎-"One would think he would be able to sweep every first year effortlessly."

‎-"If I was the one with an Omega ranked physique, no one my age would stand a chance."

‎At the third year’s seating area meanwhile.

‎"Hahaha, all that bravado only to end up losing." The same guy that had spoken to Emmett during the culling games laughed.

‎Silvie also turned to Emmett. "I think he lost not because he wasn’t powerful, but because she was just more absurd. "Even you weren’t this strong during the entire first year. What do you think of her?" she asked.

‎Silvie had watched the fight with rapt attention, and of course, she was more than able to keep up with Alistair and Anastasia’s movements, in fact they seemed to be moving in a crawl from her perspective. It was a given, after all, she was a Zeta ranked aetherial.

‎"That much is true." Emmett said. "She’s more skilled than he is, and not only that, her ability is a magnitude of degrees more troublesome." he smiled thinly. "As for what I think of her, I think we might very soon welcome her as the first year’s representative of the student council."

‎"I also thought so." Silvie confirmed.

‎"What?" Emmett turned to her with a serene smile. "You’re not going to bet on my dear brother winning against her?"

‎Silvie simply shook her head. "I tend to bet on things within the realm of possibility, and even though your brother seemed to have hidden some parts of his ability, I still don’t think he stands a chance."

‎Meanwhile, in the first year’s seating area.

‎"Rest in peace dude, I’ll make sure to remember you." Dion placed a hand on Damon’s shoulder.

‎"What do you mean rest in peace?" Damon asked as he took Dion’s hand off his shoulder. "I assure you I am not weaker than her by the slightest margin." While his confidence in beating Anastasia had dropped down from a 98 percent to a staggering 38 percent, Damon would never publicly admit that.

‎"Yeah yeah, I believe you." Dion said in a singsong manner, which clearly showed his skepticism. While Dion was convinced that Damon was pretty strong, extraordinarily strong even, he would only place Damon in the top three strongest after seeing what both Alistair and Anastasia were capable of –If seeing two streaks of scarlet and gold that continuously disappeared and reappeared could be considered seeing–.

‎Anastasia took the first spot, followed by Alistair, Damon, and then Rose. That was how the rankings in strength was in Dion’s head. So Dion didn’t for a second believe that Damon could stand a chance against Anastasia. In fact not only him, to almost everyone else, except pretty much Damon himself, everyone had already decided in their head that Damon would lose, badly at that.

‎With the instructors meanwhile.

‎"Are you all ready to pay up?" Instructor Black smirked as he turned to see instructor Summer’s dark face. Some of the other instructors who had also better on Alistair winning grumbled, some even spouted a string of curses, but instructor Summers turned to face the moustached man.

‎"Don’t think it’s over yet. What we betted upon was on who was going to win the tournament. Just because Alistair lost doesn’t automatically mean Anastasia has won." She said.

‎"You don’t mean..." instructor Black paused, before he suddenly burst out in laughter. "Hahahahaha!" his form buckled as his laugh reverberated throughout the entire stadium. "Surely you don’t mean grey eyes is going to defeat the redhead, do you?" He asked after about half a moment of laughter.

‎It was only after he heard everywhere being silent that he took a glance around. Every eye was literally on him, from the students, to the other instructors, and even that of the vice chancellor.

‎"Oh, did I say that out loud?" he chuckled. From the distance, he could hear the grey eyed boy muttering something about strangling someone. Surely the boy wasn’t talking about him right?

‎Ahem!

‎Edmond turned back to instructor Summers. "I’ll bet 10,000 aether stones he is not winning." the moustached man said.

‎"Tch, I will not lower myself to such standards anymore. Its already enough that I did it once, I will not bet with the likes of you once more." Instructor Summers scoffed. She would have to be beyond stupid to bet on a sure thing. And that sure thing being, betting against Anastasia, while she knew Damon would lose.

‎Yes, she was in fact sure that Damon would lose. She only said that so Edmond wouldn’t rub his win on all of their faces this early.

‎She was still little bumped that her student didn’t win though. But she also knew that win and loss went hand in hand. It was better for Alistair to experience loss in a controlled environment, rather than somewhere else, or maybe somewhere dangerous.

‎But that girl though, who was she really? Instructor Summers didn’t believe a princess of the Necron empire could have been hidden from public eye for all eighteen years of her life. She had tried to pry, but didn’t find out anything else, and even though she was sure Edmond knew about it, he wouldn’t tell her.

‎’What a curious little girl.’ Instructor Summer mused.

‎Instructor Lee waved Anastasia back to the stands, after a bright flash of light had long disappeared with Alistair’s unconscious figure.

‎All eyes turned to Anastasia as she landed. Part of Instructor Lee’s quirky nature, he dropped her right in front of Damon.

‎"Ladies and gentlemen, we would be taking an hour break once more, to give our second finalist some time to recover, and get back to optimum state. We can’t exactly have her fight at her current state, now can we? After all, that wouldn’t be very fair and square." Instructor Lee announced, before blurred and appeared at the instructor’s side.

‎Meanwhile, eyes stayed on both Anastasia and Damon, watching with rapt attention, how their confrontation would go.

‎"Um... Hello?" Damon smiled awkwardly. "I would say you look haggard, but I’ve seen you look worse." Damon blurted.

‎Seeing the unresponsive look Anastasia was giving them, Dion hurriedly came to his rescue. "Uhhh... What he meant to say was that you should go easy on him during your fight."

‎Damon’s head snapped to Dion, while a smile appeared on Anastasia’s lips. "Oh, I see, you should have led with that." Anastasia said as she placed a hand on Damon’s shoulder.

‎"I never said that!" Damon scowled as his head snapped back to the redhead. "I know you didn’t." Anastasia nodded sagely as she gulped down a tube of glistening blue liquid.

‎"That aside," Damon changed the topic. "So you think you’d be able to recover all your aether in an hour?" he asked. "Why? you don’t want me to?" she tilted her head smiling. "I understand, I’d be scared to fight me at full strength too." she said.

‎Damon’s mouth twitched. ’Shes’s trying to annoy me on purpose, isn’t she?’ he thought. Honestly, Damon would be glad if she was not at full power. All Damon wanted to do was win the tournament and get invited to the student council as the main representative of the first years.

‎It didn’t matter how he did it, be it because his opponent wasn’t at full strength or whatever. As for honour, only idiots bothered with something as stupid as honour. Damon couldn’t care less about that.

‎The earlier power showcased by Alistair and Anastasia was way beyond what Damon thought. Before, he had thought that since Rose had gotten that much stronger, they would be somewhat at her level, but it was only when he witnessed their fight, did he get a reality check.

‎Funny enough, he had an easier time fighting Rose than what Alistair or Anastasia would have accomplished. That first red bead alone that came without warning, would have been enough to vaporise anyone within a certain power level if they didn’t get away from it’s center, and Damon was pretty sure that Alistair and Anastasia would still be hit by it, or at least, the remnants from it’s blast.

‎Damon himself still got badly burned despite his swap being instantaneous.

‎Still, Damon’s ego wouldn’t take what Anastasia said, sitting down. "Go rest and recover with the time you have, I’d hate for you to say the reason I defeated you was because you weren’t at full power, after I do eventually defeat you." he said to the redhead.

‎"Oh, how caring you are." Anastasia smiled, patting his shoulder as she walked past both Damon and Dion, and went towards the stairs.

‎"You... you don’t mean that do you?" Dion’s eyes widened as he stared at Damon. "Mean what?" Damon asked, confused.

‎"That she should get some rest and recover well." Dion replied.

‎Damon’s expression soured. "Like hell I do." he said. "In fact, I would like it if she doesn’t recover at all." he whispered.

‎"Aha, I knew it, you almost fooled me there. I thought I had lost you for a moment."

‎"Lost me?" Damon asked.

‎"Yes, lost you." Dion nodded. "From the cowardice club."
