Chapter 138: Alistair vs Anastasia final
Chapter 138: Alistair vs Anastasia final
For a moment, time seemed to stand still. The sword and the spear, both enveloped in blue and golden glows respectively, collided in a dazzling burst of energy.
Blue light stood firmly on one side, with gold on the other, energy radiating outward and imploding the earth in the entire arena, with the duo at the center.
The ground shattered and crumbled beneath the immense pressure, fragments of debris disintegrating into dust.
Both sides stood firm, neither willing to give in, their gazes locked in a fierce battle. The energy crackling between them grew more intense, a storm of raw power swirling around their forms.
The sheer magnitude of their clash distorted the air, creating shockwaves that rippled outwards, obliterating everything in their path.
Suddenly, both sides erupted in force, their energies converging into a single point. The resulting explosion was akin to a nuclear detonation, a blinding flash of light and an earth-shaking roar.
The shockwave expanded outward, annihilating the remnants of the platform and sending debris flying in all directions. The ground quaked and the sky seemed to split, a maelstrom of force radiating outwards.
An insane amount of dust engulfed the whole area, obscuring the view of everyone watching the battle unfold.
-"They’re.... crazy, this is just fuckin crazy."
-"How are we supposed to compete or keep up with people like that?"
-"Are we sure they’re supposed to be in the first year?"
-"If I was down there, the residual power of their clash would have been enough to obliterate me a thousand times over."
Even Damon, the only first year who was able to keep eyes on them before, was having trouble trying to keep up with their speed now. In fact, in just this last clash of theirs, he did lose sight of them more times than he could count. The only times he somewhat regained sight of them was when Alistair would suddenly dramatically slow down. It was also the reason why he didn’t swap back with his main body.
Damon also knew that if he was here with his main body, he wouldn’t be able to keep up in the slightest. All he would be able to see would be two streaks of scarlet and gold.
Damon watched with narrowed eyes as the debris began clearing away.
’They’re this much stronger huh?’ he mused. Though, he wasn’t particularly worried about that. If he also reached the Theta- rank, they wouldn’t be much of a problem now would they?
Alistair stood bloodied, his chest somewhat caved, and his breath wheezing, while Anastasia in contrast, only looked out of breath. Both stood in silence amidst the devastation caused by them. They had both just shown an incredible amount of power, one that youths their age should never dream of displaying.
Even though talent and power were expected from Alistair due to his unique physique, the sheer display still left many overwhelmed. Anastasia on the other hand, was an even bigger monster in everyone’s eyes. What even was her unique physique? Many thought. Whatever it was, it must be strong enough to allow her to contend with Alistair, and seemed to be holding the the upper hand.
As their eyes met, Alistair’s gaze flashed, while a slowly widening smile parted Anastasia’s lips.
"So, ready to surrender?" the redhead tilted her head. "Or is it that you’re still stuck in your wild fantasies of taking revenge for your little girlfriend?"
Alistair’s gaze narrowed. ’Right, I forgot about that.’ He inwardly reflected. ’But at this point, can I even win anymore? Not without resorting to ’that’ at least.’he thought grimly as he took a glance once more at Anastasia’s unscathed figure.
Alistair’s eyes suddenly shone with resolve"I didn’t want to use this before." Alistair began speaking as the golden aura shrouding him suddenly grew more intense. "It’s going to come with quite the nasty comeback, but that is a price I’m willing to pay."
"By all means show me what it is." Anastasia’s scarlet hair floated as her grin widened.
With the instructors, Instructor Summer’s face grew grim. ’That idiot, I told him not to do it.’
Alistair had a trump card he hadn’t used yet. During his two weeks training with his newly sworn master, they had figured out another way to utilize his ability apart from just increasing his stats. Albeit, it was one that came with a relatively harsh drawback.
Alistair could now choose to decrease/ increase the buff granted to him by his ability. If he chose to decrease the buff, he would just be slightly stronger than his base state, but weaker than his peak state. However, if he chose to increase the buff, he would push his limits, and burn some of his life force, to achieve that.
His master had warned him not to do that, but youthful ego seemed to have overshadowed her warning. Just a few words from Anastasia had been enough to provoke his ego into doing what his master had warned him from doing.
Both Anastasia and Alistair’s figures suddenly erupted in a dazzling display of scarlet and gold respectively, their forms releasing sonic booms in the air as they closed the distance between one another, a torrent of slashes and thrusts meeting.
Alistair had seemingly gotten stronger, faster even, and so did his reaction time. Even when Anastasia slowed him down, he seemed to always find a way to avoid certain hits that would have for sure connected with him during their earlier bout.
Alistair and Anastasia clashed in a series of unending sparks, each one sending a wave of force so intense that a swirling wave of air had already formed around them, preventing anything from coming close.
"Severing jet wheel."
A multitude of blue slashes tinted with a scarlet hue appeared everywhere in front of Anastasia, her movements swift and deadly. Hundreds of lethal slashes were unleashed in the blink of an eye, streaks of blue sparks filling her front.
Alistair’s movements, in contrast, were heavy and thoroughly controlled. Despite the grim smile on his face, his every movement was deadly and precise.
His every thrust struck the heart of Anastasia’s devastating slashes, perfectly parrying every attack while simultaneously unleashing his own.
Anastasia’s figure moved like seamless waves, evading a thrust that threatened to pierce through her. Then dragged her longsword up in a brutal upwards motion. Alistair tried to dodge, but as before, his body suddenly slowed.
Brrrrrt!
A sound of flesh being cut, that of bone being broken rang in the air as Anastasia longsword found Alistair’s shoulder. Blood burst out in a dazzling display of gore as Alistair gritted his teeth, and jumped backwards before the sword could completely sever his arm.
"Wow, consider me impressed." Anastasia’s voice rang out. I hadn’t thought you’d be able to dodge that." she said. Truthfully speaking, Anastasia had thought she would completely remove the arm, then go on to finish the fight in one fell swoop. But no matter, with one arm crippled, Alistair was as good as done anyway.
Alistair meanwhile hissed out of pain as he held his broken and lacerated shoulder with his other arm. "Im not done yet." he said. Though, he himself had already started to feel the drawbacks from drawing on his life force.
Alistair charged at Anastasia, completely disregarding the sharp jolt of pain coming from his limp arm. Anastasia merely stood there waiting for him to reach her, and when he did, their weapons clashed, creating a sound of metallic notes that echoed through the battlefield.
Suddenly, Anastasia feinted left, her body twisting like a ribbon in the wind. Alistair, anticipating the move, thrust his spear forward, but Anastasia had already shifted.
With a burst of speed, Anastasia brought her longsword down in a sweeping arc. Alistair, unfazed, countered with a sidestep, bringing his spear up to deflect the blow. However, the next moment, Anastasia suddenly sped up.
Crack!
Alistair’s head snapped back as the hilt of her longsword hit Alistair square on his face. Two streams of hot blood rolled down his nose like dam. Before Alistair could collect himself, Anastasia twisted one foot on the ground, and connected her other foot underneath his jaw.
Alistair flew upwards like a ragdoll, his eyes glassy, but Anastasia also disappeared from her spot, the ground beneath her feet cracking in her wake. She reappeared above Alistair, her sword raised vertically before her.
"Stillwater severance." She swung down at Alistair’s approaching figure without hesitation. However, before her longsword could fully trace the arc she desired, the sword suddenly halted.
The blade of the sword had been held firmly in place by none other than instructor lee, and that too, with his bare hand. His other hand meanwhile, held Alistair’s unconscious figure.
"ANASTASIA NECRON WINS!"
