The Devil Who Claimed Me

Chapter 93: The growing closeness

Chapter 93: The growing closeness

Dominic listened to her intently, his mind racing with questions. "How did they know you told them only half the truth?" he asked, doubts rising in his heart. "Did you tell anyone about the meeting?"

"No..." Mila replied instantly. "I didn’t tell anyone. The woman said they got confirmation from someone who had attended the meeting."

Dominic instantly remembered what Lucas had told him.

Jiang had been missing for days.

Dominic had already launched a search operation, but there was still no news of him. He wondered if Jiang had been forced to leak the information.

"There were only four of us," Mila continued. "You wouldn’t say anything. I didn’t tell anyone. That leaves Mr. Lee or his son."

Dominic went still. He already had his answer.

"Dominic," Mila grabbed his hand, giving him a pleading look. "Lara is in danger. Please do something. Save her."

The stiffness in his features softened a bit. Seeing her terrified and helpless hit him harder than anything else.

"She is in this trouble because of me," Mila choked out. "If anything happens to her, I can’t face myself."

"Hey..." He held her face between his palms, gently wiping her tears away. "Don’t cry. Nothing will happen to your friend. I won’t let it."

Mila looked at him, hope flickering through her tears. "You promise?"

He nodded firmly. "I’ll have Lucas handle it immediately. Trust me."

Her shoulders finally relaxed a little.

He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. His expression slowly changed.

’Marco,’ he muttered in his mind with resolve. ’This is the end of your game.’

He put Mila onto the bed. "Rest now," he whispered, caressing her hair. "I need to arrange some things."

He leaned down and pressed his lips against her forehead before leaving.

Serene watched him walk away briskly. She couldn’t stop smiling as she thought Dominic had left Mila alone, that they had fought.

"This is just the beginning," she murmured. "I’ll make sure he destroys you with his own hands."

The next morning...

Serene waited eagerly the whole night, restless to find out what had happened between Mila and Dominic. She made her way toward Dominic’s room.

As she approached, faint, ambiguous sounds drifted through the slightly ajar door.

She paused. Curiosity flickered in her eyes as she stepped closer.

"Stop it." Mila’s soft voice came from inside. "Ouch...why are you biting there?"

Serene peered through the narrow gap.

On the bed, a man had Mila pinned beneath him.

He was shirtless, only in his boxers, his back tense, his body pressed close to Mila’s. It was obvious that he had been there all night.

’So this is Mila’s truth.’

Serene’s lips curled in excitement. She quickly lifted her phone, ready to capture the moment.

But the moment she focused, she froze.

Her eyes widened as they landed on the familiar scar on his arm.

That bullet wound. How could she forget it?

She had seen this mark so many times on Dominic’s arm. And every time it reminded her of how he had shielded her and taken the bullet.

Her breath hitched.

"Dominic!" she whispered in a daze. "It’s really Dominic."

There was no mistake. It was him.

"You drive me crazy... I can’t control myself around you." Dominic’s hoarse voice came out of the room.

Mila pushed lightly against his chest. "You said you had to leave. Won’t you be late?"

"If you want, I can cancel everything and stay with you."

Serene remained rooted there, dazed. Her mind refused to process it.

’How could this be?’ she wondered.

She had thought he had left last night after fighting with Mila. She had expected anger, distance, and even punishment.

Instead, he was with her. Not just with her, he couldn’t stop touching her.

When did he return? Had he been with Mila all the time? Hadn’t they fought the night before?

Questions raged in her mind. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

When she saw them kiss again, her blood boiled. Her fingers tightened around her phone.

For a second, she wanted to storm inside, drag him away, and tear them apart. But she stopped herself.

She forced herself to swallow her anger.

’No, not now. I can’t act recklessly.’

She went back to her room.

Her anger erupted.

The image of Dominic holding Mila, kissing her as if nothing else mattered, replayed again and again.

She had expected to see tension between them. She thought Dominic was furious with Mila and that he wouldn’t go near her again. But only a few hours later, his anger had dissipated. And he was now all over her.

"That bitch," she muttered, rubbing her fist. "In broad daylight, she is seducing Dominic like that. She is so shameless."

But what hurt the most wasn’t Mila. It was Dominic.

He had seen Mila with Remy. Yet he didn’t care. He forgave her so easily, as if it meant nothing.

"How did she do it?" Serene’s chest tightened in resentment. "She must have bewitched him. I don’t know what spell she has cast on him."

She slammed her fist against her palm. "That woman is a witch. I won’t let this continue. I have to separate them."

One name crossed her mind: Remy.

"He is still useful..." she muttered. "I’ll make him take her away."

She picked up her phone and dialed.

"Hello?" Remy’s voice came through.

"Doctor Remy, can you come over?"

After a pause, he replied, "I’m coming."

Serene’s lips curled slyly. "Come, Remy. This time, you have to agree with me."

Her mind already started racing with plans.

Inside Dominic’s room...

Two bodies tangled together on the bed, the air thick with their mingled breaths. His kiss deepened with every passing second, hotter, more demanding.

"Dominic..." Mila tried to stop him, but each time she spoke, he silenced her with another consuming kiss.

She pushed weakly against his chest. "Aren’t you going to the meeting?"

Dominic had intended to leave. He knew he should. But the moment he tasted her lips, all thoughts of leaving vanished.

Just as he leaned in again, Mila hurriedly said, "The door... it’s not locked."

Only then did she remember—she had stepped out earlier, and he had pulled her right back into bed before she could close it properly.

Embarrassed, her face burned. "You are impossible." She slammed her fists against his chest. "The maids might have heard us."

He looked at the slightly ajar door. Then he returned his focus to her, only to see her pull the blanket to her face. Amusement flickered in his eyes.

He got up, walked over, and shut the door firmly before locking it.

When he turned back, his lips curved into a faint smirk. The way she hid from him only made her more tempting. In one swift motion, he pulled the blanket away.

Mila inhaled sharply.

"Trying to hide?" he murmured. "Not happening."

He jumped over her, slipped his arm around her waist, and pulled her close until there was no space left between them. His other hand wandered over.

Then he captured her lips once more, this time more fiercely, sucking and biting her.

"Mmm... you animal..." she protested, though her resistance was already fading.

"Mila..." he murmured against her lips, his voice rough with need. "I want you right now. Don’t push me away."
