Chapter 92: Don’t hurt her
Chapter 92: Don’t hurt her
"Mila..." Remy’s voice pulled Mila back.
Mila wiped her tears away sneakily and turned to him.
"I’ve been looking for you," he said, stepping closer. His eyes scanned her face. "What happened? You look pale."
"I..." Mila hesitated for a moment.
’Can I use your phone?’ The words almost slipped out, but she stopped when she noticed the guard approaching.
"I don’t feel good," she said, pressing her fingers on her forehead. "I want to go back."
"Okay, okay..." Remy wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer. "We will leave."
"What’s going on?" the guard asked sharply as he approached. "Why did you disappear?"
"Relax, man," Remy said. "She just came to the restroom. She is not feeling well. Can’t you see it?"
The guard scowled at Mila but said nothing.
"Instead of questioning her, go get the car ready," Remy added firmly. "We are leaving."
The guard gave them a cold look before heading out.
Remy looked back at Mila, guilt flickering in his eyes. "I’m sorry... I shouldn’t have brought you out."
"It’s fine." Mila stepped back, creating a distance between them. "Let’s get out of here."
Just as she turned to leave, she froze. Her heart trembled when she noticed Dominic approaching. His face was dark. His steps were sharp and rigid.
Even from a distance, she could feel his anger.
’Dominic!’
Dominic stormed toward her and grabbed her wrist. "You left the mansion again?" he thundered. "Without my permission?"
Mila froze. Fear choked her voice. She wanted to explain, but no words came out.
"Dominic, please calm down." Remy stepped in quickly. "It’s not her fault. I brought her here."
He was worried Dominic would hurt her. "I wanted to treat her to a meal for helping me at the clinic. I asked her to come. Please... don’t blame her."
Dominic’s gaze turned icy. "You..." he pointed at Remy. "Keep your mouth shut."
Before she could react, he swept her up into his arms and carried her out.
Remy stood rooted to the spot, helplessly watching them leave. His fists clenched tightly at his sides. His fingers rolled at his sides.
’Don’t hurt her, Dominic,’ he thought. ’She is innocent.’
A firm grip on his shoulder pulled him back. He turned to see the guard beside him.
"She belongs to the boss," the man said coldly. "He didn’t even spare Madam Serene. Who do you think you are?"
Remy’s heart sank.
"Don’t try to get close to Miss Mila. Or you will be done."
With that, he strode out.
Remy stood alone, his thoughts spiraling.
Serene’s words echoed in his mind— ’I know you like her. I can help you leave this place with her.’
Remy’s fists tightened further. He had never thought of betraying Dominic. He owed him everything. But he couldn’t see Mila get hurt.
’If you can’t protect her, if you treat her badly, I’ll take her away,’ he resolved.
At the mansion...
Dominic carried Mila in his arms as he strode down the hallway, hot air trailing behind him. The guards stepped aside instantly. Servants scattered out of his path.
Dominic’s furious motion terrified everyone. No one dared to stay nearby.
Serene saw the scene from the corner of the hall. Her lips quirked into a satisfied smile. She had guessed something like this would happen. That was why she had deliberately called Remy to the mansion, pretending to be sick.
From the corner of the hall, Serene watched the scene. Everything was happening just as she had expected.
She planned to prove that Mila had been cheating on Dominic, and for that, she had used Remy. She had deliberately called Remy to the mansion, pretending to be unwell. And her plan worked.
"I only casually said that I’d help him escape with Mila," she mumbled, crossing her arms across her chest. "I didn’t expect him to take it so seriously."
A satisfied smile curved her lips. "And now, Mila will face Dominic’s wrath. It will be interesting to see how she will survive this."
Dominic stormed upstairs and kicked open his bedroom door.
Mila clung to him, her arms coiling tightly around his neck. She didn’t dare to look into his eyes, terrified of what she would see in them.
Once they were inside his room, he put her on her feet.
Mila stepped back instinctively, her steps wobbling. Before she could regain her balance, he pushed her against the wall, his hands slamming on the sides of her head.
"Uh..." Mila almost yelped, trembling.
"Why? Why did you go out again?" His eyes burned with fury. "You know what happened last time. You almost died. And still, you went out again?"
"Let me explain," Mila said, finally finding her voice.
But he was not in a state of listening to any explanation. "I couldn’t find you anywhere. Do you have any idea what that felt like? I thought you were taken again."
His anger wavered for a brief second, revealing his fear.
Mila blinked, startled. The storm in his eyes hadn’t completely faded, but there was worry now.
She tried to smile and put a hand on his face. "I’m fine. No one hurt me. I didn’t leave the island. The guard was with me. Besides, I was with Remy."
The moment she said his name, the fire in Dominic’s eyes burned hotter.
"Why do you need another man when I am around?" he hissed, pinching her chin. "If you wanted to go out to dinner, you could have told me."
"I went to find you," she shot back, her voice rising. "You were not there."
Dominic paused. His grip loosened slightly.
"When Remy asked me out, I thought it was a chance to find her..."
Her?
Dominic squinted at her. He then remembered Mila mentioning the janitor at the restaurant.
It turned out that she had gone there with a purpose, to find that woman. But he thought she had been having fun with Remy.
’Did I misunderstand her?’
"I went to look for her," she continued. "She showed up. She was accusing me of not telling the full truth of that meeting."
His frown deepened.
"Because of that, Marco is going to punish Lara." Mila’s voice faltered, her eyes welling up with tears. "They are targeting her to make me regret everything. I can’t do anything... I can’t even warn her..."
Her lips trembled, and she couldn’t speak.
