Chapter 226: A Month’s Supply

Chapter 226: A Month’s Supply

Vera Xavier was speaking from the heart. She’d always felt that love letters needed a certain artistic mood—a touch of lingering affection, a hint of soft emotion. They should be as tender and enduring as the "Circle Words," or as affectionate and warm as the writings of Julian Seymour.

But as for this particular love poem, it just didn’t impress her in the slightest. She was completely scornful of it.

Nathaniel Nathan shot her a cold glance. Seeing the obvious disdain in her eyes and confirming that she truly didn’t care for the love poem, he finally felt a little better. "I’ll write one for you another day," he said.

Vera Xavier immediately clapped. "I heard you got a perfect score of 100 on the language portion of your college entrance exam back in the day. Your literary talent must be incredible!"

Then, she asked curiously, "What did you write your college entrance exam essay on?"

Nathaniel Nathan shot her a sideways glance and snorted. "Even if I told you, you wouldn’t be able to pull it off."

Vera Xavier: "..."

’Is it really okay for him to bully me so blatantly?’

In truth, Nathaniel Nathan wasn’t trying to bully Vera Xavier this time. He was just a little embarrassed. Back in the day, he too had gone through a phase where he was obsessed with piling on ornate vocabulary, filling his writing with florid language. Although the caliber of his writing was far higher than that of the love letter, it would be rather hypocritical of him to bring up his own work of that style right after criticizing someone else’s.

He had only been fourteen when he took the college entrance exam, but he still felt that essay was a stain on his life’s record.

Nathaniel Nathan reached out, snatched the love letter from Vera Xavier’s hand, glanced at it, and then tore it to smithereens. "If I ever find another love letter in your bag," he threatened, "I’ll tear *you* to shreds."

Vera Xavier had wanted to sneak a peek at the signature to see which ’great admirer’ with such ’excellent taste’ had taken a liking to her. But with the letter now in pieces and Nathaniel Nathan looking so glacial, she figured it was best not to ask anything at all.

Though Nathaniel Nathan’s words were vicious, he immediately took her to the same restaurant they had visited before and ordered a huge spread of delicious food. She was happily digging in when a waiter brought a small tureen of papaya soup to their table. Remembering what he had said last time, she couldn’t help but blush.

Nathaniel Nathan, however, pushed the tureen toward her. "Drink up," he said. "This is good for you."

Vera Xavier pretended not to see it, but Nathaniel Nathan added, "I’ve already placed an order for a month’s supply. They’ll deliver a tureen of soup to you every day. Let’s try it for a month to see the effects. If it works well, you’ll keep drinking it."

Vera Xavier almost spat out the mouthful of rice she was chewing. ’Drink this soup every day? It’ll be the death of me!’

She decided she needed to have a serious talk with him. "Drinking too much of this soup might make... *that part* of me bigger, but it’ll also make me gain weight. You wouldn’t want me to end up with the figure of a papaya, would you?"

"Having a papaya figure would be kind of cute," Nathaniel Nathan said nonchalantly. "At least it’d be better than hugging you now. It’s like holding a bag of bones—all sharp and uncomfortable."

Vera Xavier was seething with rage. ’This jerk! Does he even know how to talk?!’

He raised an eyebrow. "What? You have a problem with that?"

Vera Xavier’s courage instantly vanished. "I don’t have a problem, not at all, but..."

"If you don’t have a problem, then there are no ’buts’," Nathaniel Nathan cut her off. "A small fry like you needs more nourishment anyway. Don’t overthink it. They’ll be delivering soup daily, but it won’t always be papaya soup. Having a flat chest is one thing, but your brain seems to be on the small side, too. So, we need to nourish your brain as well. That’s why they’ll also be sending pig brain soup."
