"I can handle a scumbag like that on my own." A smile touched Vera’s lips. "You’re meant for bigger things. There’s no need for you to get your hands dirty with this!"

She knew he was powerful, but she was far from weak herself. She wanted to handle her own problems.

Nathaniel Nathan stared at her, and she met his gaze. "Nathaniel, you have to trust me. I’ve never been some delicate flower who needs protection. I want to stand by your side, to be your equal. That’s why I want to solve my own problems. Just think of it as... me training myself!"

Seeing her eyes filled with confidence, Nathaniel’s gaze softened. ’This is the girl I love,’ he thought. ’Smart, strong, and independent. She’s a perfect match for me.’

He had seen her earlier today, wielding a steel pipe. She was both impressive and ruthless. She always seemed to surprise him.

He reached out and gently stroked her hair. "Alright. But you also need to remember something: don’t wear yourself out. You still have me."

Vera nodded firmly.

She took her backpack from him, gave him a smiling wave, and walked into the compound.

The moment she disappeared into the compound, his gaze turned cold. As soon as he returned to his building, he immediately made several phone calls.

Master Nathan overheard his phone conversations but didn’t interrupt. Only after Nathaniel had hung up did he speak.
