Chapter 831: Woo Him
Chapter 831: Woo Him
"Wow. Just... wow." Haji, who was in the large garden area of the mansion, stared in awe at the official website of tonight’s betting pool. "They blame Miss Penny, but look at them—enabling her gambling addiction."
"Are you going to place your bet?"
Haji snapped his eyes up and turned, catching Yuri sitting on the bench with him. Yuri smiled subtly while he studied her.
"So, you’re okay?" he asked, knowing Yuri had rushed to Anteca with her brother because of their mother.
Before she left, she had told him about her last will—just in case she didn’t make it. Haji had been in Novera on vacation and only now had the chance to see her.
"Okay?" Yuri repeated, lifting her eyes as she looked around. "Are you asking whether I’m alive? Then yes, I am."
She snapped her gaze back to Haji. "My mom wants me to quit the Order."
"Huh?"
"Apparently, she’s aware—or rather, vaguely aware—of what I’m doing," she explained. "And she told me she’s going to kill me if I put her in a situation where she has to bury her own child."
"Huh..." Haji rocked his head thoughtfully. "So, you’re leaving?"
Yuri blinked at him, then tilted her head to the side. "Haji, tell me the truth. Are you dumb?"
His face twitched while she leaned back, looking away.
"I like the Order and the freedom I have in it," she said. "If I leave now, there are a lot of things I won’t be able to do."
Hearing that, Haji nodded as he recalled what had happened after Yuri left. Although she had gone home to show her face to her mother after months away, Yuri had asked Atlas to check on the underground brawl hosted by Vito.
Thanks to Mint and Hugo, who still had plenty of connections, they were able to prioritize the victims of Vito’s syndicate. Some of them had been abducted and were eventually sent back home.
"What about you?" she asked, jerking her chin in a direction.
When Haji turned and his eyes fell on Scarlet, Yuri added, "You should give it a go. You should ask her on a date tonight."
His face soured as he looked at her in utter dismay. He scoffed, and before he could say anything, she spoke again.
"Who knows? You might get laid tonight," she shrugged. "I told you. She likes you."
"Zip it." He irritably jumped from his seat. "Hey, leave me alone, alright? Just leave me alone."
He clicked his tongue and walked away irritably, looking for another good spot to hide. He had heard the twins were looking for him, so he’d been avoiding them.
But just as he turned toward the dirty kitchen, he froze.
Jumping right in front of him were the twins, both wearing big smiles.
"Give me a break," he muttered, but the twins happily spoke.
"Uncle Haji, can you help us?" Second asked politely, while Chacha had already grabbed his hand. "Come on. Help us create an alibi for our little cousins. You see, they did something and were accomplices. So proud of them."
Haji ground his teeth as both of his hands were dragged away by the twins.
And to think she’s having another one... god damn it!

Meanwhile, Yuri kept her eyes on Haji’s retreating figure before the corners of her lips curled up.
"He probably is a little dummy," she muttered. "Didn’t even ask why I approached him in the first place."
Her smile widened as she discreetly shifted her gaze to the side, catching Scarlet leaning against one of the trees. However, her attention was soon drawn elsewhere when she saw a figure rushing by with Izu.
When Yuri moved her gaze, it landed on Allen and Izu. However, her focus lingered on Allen.
"Hah," she huffed and pulled out her phone, dialing someone’s number.
As she listened to it ring, Yuri rose from the bench and approached the person she was calling. Meanwhile, Allen slowed his steps and checked his phone.
"Sir Allen," Izu called.
Allen nodded at him. "Go ahead first. I’ll take this call."
"Yes, sir."
With that, Izu walked away while Allen answered Yuri’s call.
"Yuri," he greeted. "What is it?"
"Allen, come with me."
"Hmm?"
"To your left."
Instinctively, Allen turned to the left and saw her stopping in her tracks. She smiled and tilted her head while holding her phone to her ear.
Meanwhile, he furrowed his brows in confusion. "Where?"
"Just... come with me."
With that, Yuri lowered her phone and ended the call.
As for Allen, he had no idea what she wanted now. But knowing her, it might be something important.
Allen didn’t think much of it as he followed Yuri to another part of the mansion, where the ladies—Allison, Jessa, Marceline, Mrs. Davis, Amala, Draken’s wife, Grace, and Lola—were chatting.
What happened next was something he didn’t expect.
"Huh?"
Allen’s mind went blank while all the ladies stared at Yuri in utter surprise.
Everyone could only make the same sound.
Everyone: "Huh?"
Yuri smiled at them and stepped beside Allen, raising her hand in front of him.
"I’m saying, I will woo him," she announced, then shifted her eyes to Jessa. "That’s okay, right, Mom?"
Allen’s eyes constricted as he turned to her, holding his breath. When he realized the kind of situation he had been dragged into, he stepped closer to her and spoke quietly.
"Yuri, did I offend you or something? Why are you doing this to me?"
Yuri pursed her lips while smiling. "I like you. I thought I made that very obvious."
He gasped, his heart stopping for a second.
Sure, there had been moments between them that suggested there might be some sort of connection. However, it had never truly been established. Besides, he never assumed anything.
But that wasn’t what was important.
What was important right now was...
Allen gulped as he heard a crackling sound, like fire burning, followed by a heat wave blowing in his direction from Jessa.
"You, little man..." Jessa ground her teeth, her hand curling into a tight fist. Her eyes blazed, her expression filled with murderous intent. "...how dare you make my daughter the one to pursue you?"
Allen almost choked as he turned, only to see the gates of death opening wide for him.
As for Yuri, she let out a light chuckle as she watched her mother and the other ladies lecture Allen with a smile.
I should thank Haji and Scarlet for this.
Yuri and Allen had been playing a push-and-pull game for years. She hadn’t thought much about it until she saw Haji and Scarlet doing the same thing—and realized how silly it looked from an outsider’s perspective.
Huffing, she stepped forward before Jessa could truly make her a widow before she even got married.
Grabbing Allen’s arm, everyone stopped talking and turned to her. But she kept her attention on him as she said,
"Let’s make out somewhere else."
"You—" Allen’s face reddened as she dragged him away. "Do you want me to get killed?!"
But she only laughed as she pulled him along.
Behind them, Jessa’s hysterical screams echoed. But it all fell on deaf ears.
"Goodness," she huffed, watching her daughter flee with a smile. "She..." She trailed off as she turned to face the ladies. "Oh, my God. I think I’m going to have grandbabies!"
