Chapter 770: Hit Them!
Chapter 770: Hit Them!
Dottie’s Dad’s words fell, and the other villagers chimed in one after another.
"Yes! You must pay us back with interest!"
"Pay up! Pay up!"
The villagers shouted in unison.
They were desperate. Every time they went to ask for their wages, they had to swallow their pride. If Old Madam Stanton was in a good mood, she’d pay them a month’s wages; if not, she’d use all sorts of excuses to shirk and pay them nothing.
They were foolish, always believing the old lady’s excuses, and the wages went unpaid year after year.
If it weren’t for the construction site providing meals, half the people here would starve to death.
They initially thought the Stanton Family had no money, but it turned out they were just freeloaders. Clearly, they had money but refused to pay, treating them like fools, which really broke all their hearts!
Henry Stanton’s forehead veins throbbed fiercely.
"With interest? Are you insane?"
Old Madam Stanton had delayed their wages for so many years, if he really had to pay them back with interest, wouldn’t that be unbearable?
Dottie’s Dad coldly stared at Henry Stanton and said, "That’s right, with interest, not a penny less! Or else..."
"Or else what?" Henry Stanton was determined not to pay, raising his chin defiantly and looking at them, "You might as well kill me! The money is what my mom owes you. If you want money, go ask my mom; as for me, I don’t have a dime!"
As soon as Henry Stanton uttered these words, the crowd fell silent, staring at him in disbelief.
People need dignity like trees need bark. They thought Old Madam Stanton was already shameless and stingy enough, but unexpectedly, her son was even worse!
Dottie’s Dad looked like he had made a huge decision, nodded, and said, "Fine, you’re not paying?"
"Yes."
"Folks!" Dottie’s Dad turned and called out to the villagers, "Let’s empty their house and take the things as our wages!"
"Yes! Empty their house!"
Before Henry Stanton could react, everyone rushed forward with tools in hand.
Henry Stanton staggered back, and if not for a bodyguard holding him, he nearly fell flat on his back.
Once he regained his balance, he realized the villagers had already flooded into his home.
He had brought all the valuable things back from Crestfall, including those precious antiques Luna Monroe had left behind, any of which were worth millions. If those were taken away, he couldn’t tolerate it!
"Quick! Stop them, stop them! Are you all dead? Hurry and stop them!" Henry Stanton shouted, stomping his feet.
The bodyguards hesitated for a moment, overwhelmed by the crowd.
"Chairman, this..."
"If you don’t stop them, you can forget your wages too!"
With these words, the bodyguards finally steeled themselves and quickly chased after the villagers.
"Stop, or we’ll be tough on you!" the bodyguards warned.
Dottie’s Dad yelled, "Fight them!"
With this order, the villagers stopped moving the items and turned to confront the bodyguards instead.
The bodyguards gritted their teeth and began to wrestle with the villagers.
Although most villagers were strong, they relied on brute force. The two sides were unevenly numbered, yet they fought to a standstill.
While both sides were deadlocked, a group of mysterious black-clad bodyguards appeared, running towards them.
"Dottie’s Dad, he actually has more people!" A villager next to Dottie’s Dad said fearfully, "So many, we might not be able to hold out much longer!"
Dottie’s Dad kicked away a bodyguard in front of him, looked at the approaching crowd, and gritted his teeth, "Retreat for now!"
However...
