"No need." Summer Monroe shook her head, "I can treat myself and I know my own condition."
But Damian Knight was not willing to agree.
"Doctors can’t treat themselves; it’s safer to take you to the hospital for a check-up."
"Really, there’s no need." Summer explained, "What happened to me just now felt like running three kilometers; I just expended some energy. After resting a bit, I’m really fine now."
Damian Knight observed her complexion, and although it was still a bit pale, she no longer looked like she was on the verge of collapsing.
He had to agree, then offered an apologetic smile, saying, "My mom is actually sharp-tongued but soft-hearted, you’ll realize it after getting to know her more."
"Mm." Summer nodded and said, "The fact that she and my mom are good friends means she can’t be a bad person."

Damian Knight moved his lips, suddenly recalling the TV dramas he’d watched all afternoon, and with a cough, he said, "Woman, you’re playing with fire."

The smile on Damian Knight’s lips froze, and inside, he cursed Ryder Quinn.

Damian Knight showed the caller ID to Summer and said, "I think they have news from Myanmar."
He said, pressing the phone’s speaker button.
Cece’s voice came through, "Boss, where are you? We’ve found them, they’re at the airport, too many people to explain here, where should we meet?"
"Let’s meet at Redleaf Manor then."
"Yes."
After the call ended, Summer felt the awkwardness from a few days ago returning upon hearing Cece’s voice.
As she and Damian Knight left Knight Manor and got into the car, she couldn’t help but ask, "Damian Knight, I think Cece is quite beautiful, don’t you think?"

Summer looked at him with disdain, "Really?"
Damian Knight shrugged, "Whether she is or isn’t, if it wasn’t for her, I’d never have realized my feelings for you."
Summer was taken aback and asked, "Why do you say that?"
"Do you remember there was a time when I didn’t take your calls?"
Summer nodded, "I remember."
More than remember, it was engraved in her bones.
That time was so distressing for her, thinking back now, maybe she had already fallen for Damian Knight back then.
Damian Knight continued, "She suggested that if I wasn’t clear about my feelings for you, I should try not contacting you for a week. If I could manage it, then it was just friendship, if not... then it was love. Later on, you know, I couldn’t do it at all."
