Chapter 402: Chapter 403: Taming the Husband

The situation wasn’t as optimistic as Sue White said. The case was high-profile. Winning it would make everyone happy, but losing it would also have a significant impact on Sue White.

Neither she nor Sue White could afford to lose!

"I know you’re under a lot of pressure, but I can only entrust this case to you. I can’t trust anyone else!" Sienna said.

Sue White remained silent.

"Sue, I have to win this case; I can’t lose it!" Sienna continued. If they lost, Dexter Johnson’s reputation would be ruined for life; he’d be labeled a child molester. If they lost, Sienna would live with guilt for her entire life.

In fact, Sienna was the one under the most pressure. Her anxiety and irritability had even caused blisters to form on her mouth.

"Don’t worry. Since I’ve taken this case, I’ll naturally do my best," Sue White assured her.

"I believe in you!" Sienna replied.

"Try not to worry too much."

"Mm."

Sienna knew about Sue White’s financial situation, so she prepaid a portion of the lawyer’s fees. Sue White didn’t stand on ceremony and accepted it directly.

The two had dinner at Sue White’s place and left afterward.

The sea bass soup Robin had made was delicious, and Sienna, even though pregnant, couldn’t help but drink a fair amount. She couldn’t help but say to Adrian, "I really like that boy, Robin. What do you think about him becoming our son-in-law?"

"He’s much older than Curly," Adrian pointed out.

"He’s only six years older than Curly. Aren’t you six years older than me?" Sienna retorted. "Besides, older boys are more mature and caring. Curly has been spoiled by us, so we should find someone sensible like Robin." Sienna really had her sights set on Robin. "I’ll bring Curly over more often to see Robin. With Robin’s temperament, Curly will definitely like him."

"What about George?" Adrian asked.

"George?" Sienna shot Adrian a look, her stance clear. "Men from Abyanabad have multiple wives and concubines. Do you want our Curly to marry into that and become someone’s lesser wife? Adrian, I’m telling you, I won’t let Curly marry a man from Abyanabad!"

"What’s wrong with men from Abyanabad?"

"What’s the use of them being good if men from Abyanabad have multiple wives and concubines!"

"Not all men from Abyanabad have multiple wives and concubines! I only married you, didn’t I?" Adrian retorted, unable to stand hearing anyone speak ill of men from his country.

Sienna looked at him, starting to rake over old coals. "Sixth Master didn’t say that back then. Sixth Master insisted that capable men *should* have multiple wives and concubines. Didn’t Sixth Master marry Melanie Carpenter back then?

"If I hadn’t run away, I’d probably be sharing Sixth Master with Melanie.

"With so many beauties in this world, all different types, who knows how many other wives Sixth Master would have taken besides me and Melanie?"

Adrian fell silent, and Sienna’s anger smoldered inside her.

The two walked silently towards the car parked outside the residential complex. Adrian, clearly unhappy, didn’t even open the car door for her and got in himself.

Since Adrian didn’t open the car door for her, Sienna opened it herself. It wasn’t like she was helpless, nor did she have some sort of princess complex, expecting a man to wait on her.

The streets in the Old Town District were crowded and narrow. Shops on both sides encroached onto the sidewalks, forcing pedestrians to walk in the vehicle lanes, so their car had to move very slowly.

"I was wrong back then. You keep bringing it up. Is there any point to it?" Adrian finally burst out, looking at the woman in the rearview mirror as he vented his dissatisfaction.

"So, what does Sixth Master want me to do? Just... pretend nothing ever happened? Sixth Master, my memory is just too good. I can’t forget. So what am I supposed to do about it?"

Adrian parked the car on the side of the road, turned, and stared at Sienna without saying a word. Sienna flipped through the documents in her hand, not looking at him.

"And what about you?" Adrian retorted. "You were all ambiguous with Noah Phillips and almost married Kenneth Brown. I haven’t even said anything about that... Yet you keep harping on what I did back then, making me miserable."

Sienna said nothing.

"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Adrian pressed.

"I don’t want to argue with you!"

She had been single at the time. Noah, Kenneth—they were all single too. They were all unattached; why couldn’t she have gotten involved with them?

Adrian, on the other hand... even when she was heavily pregnant and had begged him not to marry Melanie Carpenter, he had still disregarded her pleas and married Melanie anyway.

"You think I want to argue with you?" Adrian shot back.

"Drive home!" Sienna commanded.

"I’m not your damn driver!" he snarled.

Adrian slumped back in his seat, his face grim, and stared silently ahead. They remained in this standoff for about ten minutes before Sienna glanced at her watch and got out of the car.

Seeing Sienna get out and walk off, Adrian froze for a moment. He watched as she went to the roadside, hailed a taxi, and was about to get in.

"Damn it!" Adrian got out of the car, stopped her, and dragged her back towards the vehicle.

"I have a ton of things to do tomorrow; I don’t have time to sit here by the roadside with you! If you’re not going to drive, I’ll take a cab home!" After saying her piece, she turned away, refusing to look at Adrian.

"I’ve spoiled you rotten! Now you dare to give me this attitude!"

"Sixth Master? Who am I to dare show Sixth Master any attitude!" Sienna retorted sarcastically.

"You’re my wife! Don’t call me Sixth Master! That’s not what you should be calling me!" Every time they quarreled and she got difficult, she’d call him ’Sixth Master’ this and ’Sixth Master’ that. Every word was enough to drive him mad.

Sienna remained silent.

"Can we stop arguing?" Adrian pleaded.

Still, Sienna said nothing.

"I was wrong. It’s all my fault, alright? Please, stop being difficult. Let’s go home."

Sienna glared at him, her beautiful eyes blazing with anger. "Adrian, what do you mean *I’m* being difficult? What did I say that made you get an attitude with me?

"Don’t I have enough frustrating things to deal with lately? And now you’re just adding to my stress!

"I only said a few words!

"What do you mean, I’m ’always raking over old coals’?

"Why don’t you reflect on yourself? Why do you *have* old coals for me to rake over in the first place?"

Adrian was speechless.

"Do you think that just because you’re not keeping multiple wives and concubines anymore, I should be eternally grateful to you?" Sienna continued, her voice rising.

"Adrian, this is Orienta! This is Sileria City! Nobody here is going to put up with those rotten habits of yours! If you’re not willing to be a son-in-law here in Orienta, then you can just get the hell back to Abyanabad!"

"The bodyguards are nearby. Can you please keep it down a bit, for my sake?" Adrian pleaded, glancing around.

Sienna’s expression remained grim, but she did lower her voice. "Are you driving me home, or am I taking a cab myself?"

Adrian sighed. "I was wrong. Can you please stop being like this? I’m really scared of you getting angry now."

"Where were you wrong?" Sienna challenged.

"I must have been out of my mind back then. I shouldn’t have even thought about marrying another woman when I already had you."

"And?"

"And what?" Adrian asked, confused.

Sienna’s expression clouded over, thoroughly dissatisfied that he still hadn’t realized the full extent of his mistakes.
