Chapter 326: Chapter 327: Two People Destined Not To Be Together

"Baby!" Hearing that she was leaving, Noah cried out her nickname in anguish. Sienna couldn’t even bring herself to look at him. She stood up, gave a slight bow to Mrs. Phillips, and quickly walked outside.

"Goodbye, Noah!"

"Baby, don’t go..." Noah got up to chase her, but Mrs. Phillips sternly stopped him. "Noah, what are you trying to do? Wasn’t what Sienna just said clear enough?"

"Mom, why do you have to do this? You know my true feelings! I’ve never asked for anything in my life; I just want to marry the woman I love!"

"She’s not good enough for you!"

"I only want her!" Noah, in the end, chased after her. Adrian sighed and said, "Some people won’t shed a tear until they see their own coffin."

Adrian could see their tragic ending: a proud woman and a weak man. They were doomed to a sorrowful conclusion.

Mrs. Phillips sat there, her face tight with anger. "Aren’t you going after them, Mr. Desmond?"

"They want to talk," Adrian replied. "What would I do there?"

"Aren’t you afraid of them rekindling their old feelings?"

Adrian laughed. "Mrs. Phillips, you don’t understand Sienna at all. She cares immensely about her reputation. After you’ve humiliated her like this, she wouldn’t want Noah, no matter how good he is. Mrs. Phillips, from now on, you don’t have to worry about Sienna marrying your son. She might marry any other man, but she will definitely not marry him!"

"That’s the best news I’ve heard."

Adrian pitied the self-righteous woman before him. Sienna was ruthless at heart, protecting herself well; she wouldn’t be the one hurt in the end.

"Goodbye, Mrs. Phillips! I hope that no matter what happens, you won’t interfere in Sienna’s life again."

"Alright."

Adrian got up and walked out, only to see Noah and Sienna in a tense confrontation in the Phillips family’s front garden. His eyes darkened, and he barely restrained himself from stepping forward to separate them.

Noah was tightly gripping Sienna’s hand. Her face was cold, her lips pressed firmly together.

"I don’t know what my mother said to you, but those aren’t my thoughts. Don’t give up so easily. Just give me a little more time. I’ll try my best to change their minds," Noah humbly pleaded with the cold-hearted woman before him.

"..."

"I’m sorry. I apologize to you on my mother’s behalf!"

"Mrs. Phillips wasn’t wrong. You don’t need to apologize to me for her."

Sienna couldn’t bear to look at the man before her. His face was so haggard. In such a short time, he had lost so much weight, no longer the gentle, warm image she remembered.

When she finally spoke, Noah was overjoyed. "Baby, can you give me a little more time? Please? I’ll persuade my family to let us be together."

Sienna was more realistic than Noah. If the issue hadn’t been him needing to marry into her family, perhaps with enough effort, they might still have had a chance. However, she required a husband who would do so, and that meant they could never truly be together.

"I’m sorry; I’ve fallen in love with Adrian," Sienna replied, completely shattering Noah’s hope.

"I don’t believe it!" His eyes reddened as he spoke, his voice hoarse.

"We’ll be engaged soon!"

"No! I can’t marry someone else. If you marry someone else, what will become of me?" He grabbed her hand, like a drowning man clutching at a life-saving straw. "I’m sorry. I should have had my grandfather help take you away with me back then. If you had come home with me, we wouldn’t be separated now..."

Sienna was a practical woman; she never dwelled on "what ifs" or "if onlys." Such suppositions were meaningless because they changed nothing.

"Your mother said she found a well-matched, outstanding woman for you. She loves you deeply, brother. I believe you will be happy." She pulled her hand free and turned away resolutely, eager to leave this uncomfortable place. The Phillips family’s threshold was too high for her to enter.

"You’re the only one in my heart! There will never be another woman!" Noah called out faithfully from behind her.

Sienna paused for a moment, wanting to say something more, but then hesitated and, in the end, said nothing. She strode out of the Phillips’ residence. She couldn’t stand to be there a moment longer.

"Noah, she doesn’t belong to you. Give up your delusions!" Adrian said curtly as he walked past the dazed and dejected Noah, who was still staring blankly in the direction Sienna had disappeared.

When Adrian came out, he didn’t find Sienna in the car.

Seeing Adrian looking for someone, David quickly approached and reported, "Sixth Master, Madam went that way."

Adrian immediately chased after her. His leg hadn’t fully healed, so hurrying made his limp more pronounced, attracting stares from passersby. He paid them no mind, focused only on catching up to her, and finally found her by the roadside.

"Sienna!"

Sienna didn’t stop walking. Adrian had to quicken his pace to catch her. "Sienna!" He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his embrace, only to see her tear-streaked face. Adrian’s anger flared. "Why are you crying?"

"..."

"Damn it! Tell me, why are you crying?"

Sienna turned her head away, refusing to look at him. Adrian couldn’t bear to see her heartbroken and crying over another man. He grabbed her arm and started pulling her back. Sienna panicked. "What are you doing?"

They were heading back towards the Phillips family’s home.

"You can’t bear to leave that pretty boy, can you?" Adrian roared. "Fine, then go back! Tell him you love him, that you can’t bear to leave him, that you want to be with him!"

There was no way Sienna would return to the Phillips’ home to be further humiliated by Mrs. Phillips. "I’m not going!"

Adrian dragged her by the hand. She was no match for his strength and was pulled along for a considerable distance. As the gates of the Phillips’ home came into view, Sienna grew frightened. In her eyes, the Phillips’ home now seemed like a terrifying beast.

"Adrian, you bastard! I said I’m not going!"

"It wasn’t easy for you to come here. Are you sure you want to leave your precious Noah so soon?"

Sienna shook her head vehemently, digging her heels in, refusing to move. Adrian stopped and said sternly, "Sienna, think carefully. If you don’t go back and fight for yourself with Mrs. Phillips today, once we return home, I won’t allow you to come back here again."

"I want to go home!" She was such a coward.

Adrian gently wiped away her tears. "What did you ever see in such a weak man?" he asked softly.

"Adrian, please, don’t say any more." Sienna didn’t want to hear it.

"Let’s go."

Adrian led Sienna to the car. The vehicle slowly pulled away, heading towards Sileria City.

Throughout the journey, Sienna’s spirits were low. Adrian had allowed her to be heartbroken this one time. But after this, he wouldn’t permit her to grieve or lose herself over any other man.

"Adrian, let’s get married," Sienna said suddenly, lying in his arms.

"Alright."
