Chapter 323: Chapter 324: Unable to Guess the Sixth Master’s Thoughts

The Ascendas Hotel in Province A was a five-star hotel. Sienna Johnson went to take a bath, and Adrian Desmond had already prepared a set of clothes for her: a peach-colored knee-length skirt with a large, flounced hem. Not everyone could pull off such a bright color, but Sienna’s fair skin complemented the peach dress beautifully, preventing her from being overwhelmed by its vibrancy.

On the sofa, Adrian had his legs propped up on a table while a man massaged them. Sensing a familiar presence, Adrian turned his head to see the woman, looking much more relaxed.

"I just contacted Mrs. Phillips. We will visit her in the afternoon. I’ll go with you."

"I can go by myself. What’s the point of you coming along?" Sienna Johnson felt that bringing Adrian would be inappropriate.

"Mrs. Phillips is afraid of you clinging to that pretty boy, right? If you bring a handsome and dashing fiance like me, Mrs. Phillips will naturally feel at ease."

"I really don’t understand what you’re trying to do. Didn’t Mrs. Phillips say she’d send someone to retrieve it? Yet we insisted on delivering the necklace ourselves. Now she probably thinks I’m using this as an excuse to get close to Noah Phillips."

"You’re overthinking it."

In a royal blue long box on the table lay the necklace. Now, whenever Sienna Johnson thought about that necklace, she felt a sense of revulsion. The thought of returning this troublesome item made her feel even more guilty. With that in mind, she couldn’t help but glare at the instigator. This man was almost thirty, yet he was still so childish!

"Get out!" Adrian retracted his legs.

"Yes, sir."

The man who had been massaging Adrian’s legs retreated, leaving only Adrian and Sienna in the room.

"You look beautiful in this dress..." There was a touch of awe in Adrian’s eyes. This woman is mine,

he thought, a sense of satisfaction washing over him.

He gestured for her to come over. Sienna Johnson had made enough of a fuss. Seeing that the man’s attitude wasn’t bad, she decided to quit while she was ahead. Otherwise, she’d be the one to suffer in the end.

"You’re even more beautiful!" He kissed her on the cheek. She had just taken a bath, and her hair was still wet. Her cheeks were tender and pink, like jelly, tempting him to take a bite.

"I just heard from the masseur that the steak at the hotel’s Western restaurant is good, so let’s have lunch there."

Although Sienna Johnson liked Orienta cuisine, she was not a picky eater. She nodded. "Alright."

"Are you still angry?" He pinched her chin and kissed her. Sienna glared at him. "If you dare bully me like this again, I will really ignore you."

"It was just a parachuting experience. Who knew your reaction would be so big?"

"Adrian, I’m not you. I’m just an ordinary person. Before I met you, I lived an ordinary, predictable life. Your world, your life—those are things I’ve only ever seen in movies... So, please don’t assume that just because you can do something, I should be able to as well, okay?"

"Got it."

"Adrian, what am I going to do with you?" Sienna Johnson looked at him, a headache forming.

"That’s what I should be asking."

...

Although Ascendas Hotel’s Western restaurant did not have private rooms, there were antique-looking screens separating the tables and providing some privacy. They chose the most secluded table by the window, with no one else nearby and soft lighting.

It was ten in the morning, not yet lunchtime, so Adrian ordered her coffee and dessert.

Adrian was accustomed to high-end restaurants. Upon sitting down, he immediately found the sofa uncomfortable and complained, "I shouldn’t have listened to the masseur. He said this Western restaurant was good, but look at this sofa; it’s as hard as sitting on a rock."

"You asked where the food was delicious, not where the sofas were soft," Sienna Johnson defended the masseur.

"I believe the dining environment is important."

"In Orienta, many delicacies are hidden in inconspicuous corners. They may look dirty and disorganized, but the food is delicious."

"No matter how delicious the food is, I won’t eat anything from places like that."

"That’s why you’re missing out."

"And you’re not afraid of getting sick?"

Adrian was shocked by the diverse and adventurous eating habits of Orienta people. There seemed to be nothing they wouldn’t eat, whether it flew in the sky or ran on the ground. Eating rats was one thing, but they even ate maggots... fried in oil, then stir-fried with chili, devoured one bite at a time. All Adrian could think of were rotting corpses.

"Adrian, I have something to ask you," Sienna Johnson abruptly interrupted him.

Seeing her serious expression, Adrian replied solemnly, "What is it? Ask away."

Sienna Johnson looked at him gravely. "What exactly are you planning to do?"

"What am I planning to do?"

"I feel like something’s off. You’re so eager for me to meet Mrs. Phillips, and you’re coming along too. Do you have some other motive?" Sienna Johnson asked keenly. She couldn’t believe his intentions were that simple.

At that moment, the waiter brought their coffee and dessert. Adrian didn’t rush to answer. He added sugar to her coffee first, then stirred it slowly before handing it to her. That wasn’t all; he also carefully cut the dessert into several small pieces, making it easier for her to eat.

Throughout the process, he didn’t speak. His thoughtful actions were enough to make anyone who saw them envy his girlfriend.

It had to be said, Adrian was much more considerate now than he had been four years ago, despite his inherently domineering and chauvinistic nature.

"What do you think I want to do?"

"I respect Noah Phillips, so I also respect his family! I don’t mind at all that Mrs. Phillips opposes Noah and me being together. If I had a son who fell in love with a woman who already had children and wanted to marry into her family, I would oppose it too."

"You’re quite devoted to that pretty boy, aren’t you."

"And you’re just as devoted to Melanie Carpenter!"

Adrian slammed the spoon in his hand, his brutal streak surfacing. "...I haven’t even done anything to that pretty boy yet, and your heart already aches for him?"

"Adrian, if you truly love me, please try to see things from my perspective."

"Are you afraid I’ll make a move against Noah Phillips?" His eyes flashed with a fierce glint, and Sienna stared back at him, trying to discern his real thoughts.

"...I just think of Noah Phillips as a brother..." she sighed.

Adrian grabbed her hand, which was resting on the table. As his words grew impassioned, his warm lips pressed against the back of her hand in a soft kiss.

Sienna Johnson tried to pull her hand back, but he held it too tightly; she couldn’t move. Through the hazy light, she could only stare at his sharply defined profile.

"You’re too good to him. I get jealous."

Their affair hadn’t been a matter of just a day or two; how could Adrian possibly feel at ease?

"In this world, I’m the one who’s best to you."

"..."

"The way you bullied and humiliated me back then! If it had been any other man, I would never have forgiven him!"

"It won’t happen again."

When the steaks arrived, perhaps because he knew he had upset her, Adrian was very attentive throughout the meal, even cutting her steak into small pieces for her.

Looking at Adrian behaving this way, Sienna Johnson sighed. She was truly at a loss with this man.
