Chapter 303: Chapter 304: Refusing the Wheelchair
Walter Klein said, "I got a call from the doctor over there; they said Miss Carpenter has some mental problems."
"I’ve already done enough for her. Whether she lives or dies, it has nothing to do with me!" Adrian Desmond got a headache just hearing Melanie Carpenter’s name.
Adrian Desmond had no good feelings towards Melanie Carpenter now. If it weren’t for this woman, he wouldn’t be in this mess today.
"One after another, not a single one of them gives me any peace!"
Adrian Desmond tried to get out of bed, but Walter Klein stopped him. "Sixth Master, your injuries aren’t healed yet; you can’t be discharged."
"I have to see Sienna Johnson." Adrian Desmond limped, trying to walk away.
Walter Klein said, "Sixth Master, wait."
Walter Klein fetched a brand new wheelchair. "Sixth Master, please sit in the wheelchair. I’ll push you." Adrian Desmond’s temperament was such that he wouldn’t listen to anyone’s attempts to dissuade him. Walter Klein couldn’t stop him; he could only try to ensure he didn’t aggravate his injuries.
Seeing the wheelchair, Adrian Desmond’s mouth twitched. He wouldn’t sit in that thing. If Sienna saw him in it, she’d be utterly disgusted with him.
"I’m not disabled! I won’t sit in that thing!"
Adrian Desmond hobbled out. Walter Klein looked at the wheelchair, scratched his head, and then followed.
「...」
Sienna Johnson had originally planned to pick up her daughter from kindergarten. However, because of Melanie Carpenter’s meddling, she missed the time and had to let Kiki pick her up instead.
As she walked out of the company building, a light drizzle began to fall. The night air was already cool, and now the cold wind, carrying fine raindrops, hit her body, sending an involuntary chill up her spine.
Sienna Johnson stood at the entrance, hugging her arms and shivering.
Just as she was about to get her car, a black car suddenly drove over. It screeched to a halt in front of her, and the window rolled down to reveal Adrian Desmond’s face.
Twenty minutes ago, they had just had a fierce argument on the phone. It was definitely not a good time for them to meet so soon.
Seeing Adrian Desmond, Sienna’s mood plummeted. She turned and walked away, naturally not showing him a pleasant expression.
"Damn it!" Adrian Desmond pushed open the car door and limped after her. "Don’t go! Let’s talk!"
"Everything that needed to be said, I already made clear to you on the phone," she stated heartlessly, her cold, stunningly beautiful appearance evoking both love and hate in him.
Although his leg was injured, his arms were fine. Adrian Desmond grabbed her arm like an iron vise, firmly immobilizing her. He didn’t even move an eyebrow, just stared at her quietly. His overwhelming aura seemed to press down on her, crushing any rebuttal before it could leave her lips.
"Alright, if there’s something to say, let’s clear it all up once and for all!"
Sienna Johnson got into the car with Adrian Desmond. Walter Klein was driving.
Walter Klein smiled and greeted Sienna Johnson, "Madam, good evening."
"I’m not good at all!"
Walter Klein was left speechless.
The car moved slowly along the highway, the silence inside so thick it was suffocating.
Sienna Johnson and Adrian Desmond sat in the back seat. Feeling his gaze on her made the hairs on her skin stand up, and she felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles. She somewhat regretted getting into Adrian Desmond’s car.
Neither of them attempted to break the stifling silence. Sienna didn’t want to, and Adrian didn’t know how.
Seeing the car heading in an unfamiliar direction, Sienna finally spoke up, "Where are you taking me?"
"I haven’t eaten yet."
Sienna wanted to get this over with quickly. "You said you had something to tell me. Say it now; I’m listening."
"I haven’t eaten properly for days. I don’t have the strength to talk to you right now."
After saying that, Adrian leaned against Sienna Johnson’s slender shoulder. Adrian was tall and well-built, and his weight pressing onto her small shoulder was almost too much for her to bear.
"Adrian Desmond, move aside!"
"I haven’t been eating or sleeping well lately, and I just argued with you. I’m exhausted, mentally and physically. I need to sleep."
"Go sleep somewhere else then."
Adrian Desmond slightly opened his eyes. Seeing her pained expression, he finally lifted his proud head, only to pull Sienna Johnson into his embrace.
The streetlight illuminated her pale face and her slightly furrowed, delicate features. Her thin body stiffened in his arms, clearly unwilling to be held. Adrian’s sharp gaze lingered on her, his throat tightening as a physiological reaction stirred within him.
For a moment, he wanted to kick Walter Klein out of the car, close the doors, and shut out the rest of the world. He wanted to press her into the car seat, ravage her, consume her.
He thought about this every day. After so many years, did she know how much he wanted her, how his whole body ached for her? He wanted to hold her tightly, enter her body, feel her tightness, her warmth.
Acting on impulse, Adrian Desmond looked at her jelly-like lips and bit down hard.
"MPH—" Sienna’s eyes widened in alarm. Walter Klein was right in front of them! She wasn’t so open-minded as to be intimate with him in front of someone else.
She tried to push him away, but Adrian Desmond easily subdued her, pinning her beneath him. Seeing Sixth Master’s enthusiasm, Walter Klein drove the car to a secluded spot, got out, closed the door, and walked a distance away. Walter was so perceptive, which was why he had been able to stay by Adrian Desmond’s side for so long.
The kiss seemed to last an eternity before he finally released her. Sienna Johnson was gasping for breath, glaring at him. "Adrian Desmond, you bastard!"
"Can’t you come up with any other insults?" he chuckled. Because of the kiss, the anger in his heart had subsided somewhat.
"The divorce statement you saw four years ago was real." Adrian Desmond withheld the fact that, at that time, he and Melanie Carpenter were still legally married. Such matters only became more complicated with explanation, so he decided to keep it hidden. "The day Melanie Carpenter and I were supposed to have our wedding, when I found out you’d run away, I started searching for you. I haven’t touched Melanie Carpenter. In all these years, I haven’t touched any other woman either. There’s only been you. I’m clean. You don’t have to feel disgusted by me..."
"Who can say for sure about things like that."
"I swear on Curly, apart from you, I haven’t slept with any other woman..."
Sienna Johnson believed his words and calmed down, though the anger in her heart hadn’t completely dissipated. She said angrily, "I received a call from Melanie Carpenter today. She said a lot of nasty things to me. She told me not to seduce you and to set a good example for Curly, warning that Curly shouldn’t just rely on being pretty when she grows up and become like me, going around seducing men."
"Did she really say that?" Adrian Desmond couldn’t allow anyone to slander his beloved daughter like that.
Adrian Desmond had always been indulgent towards Melanie Carpenter. Hearing that Adrian Desmond didn’t seem to believe her, Sienna Johnson pushed him away. "Believe it or not, that’s up to you! Get lost! I want to get out of the car!"
"Her mental state is a bit unstable right now. Don’t believe anything she says."
"Then how do you plan to deal with her?" she stared at him, demanding a resolution.
"How would you like me to handle her?"
Sienna Johnson turned her face away uncomfortably. The neckline of the dress she wore today was a bit wide, allowing Adrian Desmond to clearly see her slightly protruding collarbone.
