Chapter 296: Chapter 297: Love Rival’s Proposal

"What do you mean by this, Sienna Johnson?"

When the doctor came to change Adrian Desmond’s dressing, Sienna Johnson remained silent, only asking the doctor about the extent of Adrian’s injuries. Seeing that she still showed some concern for him, Adrian’s anger subsided a little.

The doctor examined Adrian and said, "Fortunately, you received timely treatment. Although you’ve lost a lot of blood, you’ll recover with some rest. You have a strong physique, so your recovery should be faster than a normal person’s."

"Young man, you’re really lucky. If the knife had gone in an inch deeper, it would have affected your future married life." The doctor, thinking he was being humorous, chuckled. He then realized he was the only one laughing in the room, and his laughter died in his throat.

Everyone present had rather interesting expressions upon hearing his remark.

Adrian, especially, felt he couldn’t save face, being belittled by the doctor about his masculinity in front of his rival. His glaring eyes were chilling, making the doctor feel a little uneasy. Hurriedly, the doctor added, "Fortunately, you’re strong and healthy; there’s no significant damage. After recovery, you’ll surely be vigorous—a ’seven-times-a-night’ guy."

Finished speaking, the doctor still found his double entendre quite humorous and chuckled to himself.

Adrian Desmond also laughed. "Seven times a night, huh? HA HA HA..." He grabbed the doctor by the collar, lifted him close, and threatened, "My woman has strong desires in that department. If I don’t recover to be a ’seven-times-a-night’ guy, I’ll cut off your... and feed it to the dogs!"

Sienna Johnson’s face changed drastically. She stole a glance at Noah Phillips, which was unfortunately caught by Adrian Desmond, who was seething with jealousy. Damn it, did she really think he was dead, flirting right in front of him?

"You should rest. The police are still outside waiting; I need to give my statement!" Sienna stood up, intending to leave.

Adrian grabbed her hand. How could he possibly let her go now? He was injured, and his rival, Noah Phillips, was still there, eyeing her covetously. Even though Sienna Johnson was engaged to Kenneth Brown, in that heartless woman’s mind, Noah Phillips was the man she truly cherished.

"Sienna, I’m not feeling well. Can you stay with me, please?" His forceful approach wasn’t working, so he tried a softer one. After all, he had been injured because of her.

"I’ll find a caretaker for you."

"No caretaker can look after me as well as you can." Adrian held her hand tightly, refusing to let go no matter how much Sienna struggled.

Sienna said angrily, "Adrian Desmond, let go!"

"I know what you’re thinking. I’m not dead yet, so you can drop those wild fantasies of yours."

Sienna’s face flushed slightly. What was this man spouting in front of Noah Phillips? "Shut up! Don’t talk nonsense!" she snapped.

"Hey, four-eyes, my wife and I are going to sleep now. Are you going to keep being an eyesore here?" Adrian spoke rudely to Noah.

"Adrian, how can you talk like that? What..." Sienna was incredibly embarrassed. It felt as if her own child had misbehaved, and she, as the parent, had lost face along with him.

Noah Phillips observed the two acting intimately, yet Sienna Johnson had never mentioned this man to him. He sized Adrian up several times before his gaze finally settled on Sienna’s face.

"Who is he?"

Sienna replied, a clear note of strain in her voice, "He is Curly’s biological father."

Noah Phillips looked at Adrian Desmond in surprise, examining him from head to toe. The man was undeniably handsome, with a face that practically invited romantic entanglements. However, he spoke with a roguish, flippant air and didn’t seem like a good person. Noah couldn’t help but worry for Sienna Johnson. It seemed she always attracted bad men. Kenneth Brown was one thing, but now here was someone even more difficult to deal with.

"Adrian, let go! I have something to discuss with Noah Phillips." Adrian Desmond was like a piece of sticky plaster she couldn’t shake off.

"Just say it right here!"

Adrian certainly wasn’t going to give them an opportunity to be alone together.

Sienna’s face tightened, clearly unhappy. She turned her head to one side, pointedly showing Adrian her displeasure. Adrian, not wanting Noah to see them bickering and thus give the man before him an opening, quickly softened his tone and coaxed, "Alright, if you have something to talk about with him, go ahead. But don’t be gone for too long. I can’t sleep at night without holding you."

Adrian described their relationship in deliberately ambiguous terms. Seeing how unsightly Sienna’s expression became, he felt a pang of discomfort himself. There she was, giving him the cold shoulder again. Did she just feel he’d made her lose face in front of the man she secretly adored?

Sienna Johnson stood up and walked out. Noah Phillips glanced at Adrian Desmond, his gaze filled with inquiry. Adrian met his stare and said provocatively, "Sienna Johnson belongs to me, Adrian Desmond. You’ll never have her! Give up your foolish delusions!"

"Adrian, what nonsense are you spouting?" Sienna felt utterly humiliated. She shot Adrian a fierce glare before dragging Noah out of the room.

Out in the corridor, Sienna Johnson gave an awkward smile and explained, "He got hit in the head with a brick, so his mind is a bit muddled. Whatever he just said was nonsense; don’t listen to his ramblings."

"What’s the deal with you and Kenneth Brown?"

"We weren’t compatible, so we broke up." Sienna explained her relationship with Kenneth Brown in a single, simple sentence.

"Are you okay?" Noah Phillips asked with concern, his eyes observing her face, as if trying to see through her expression to her true feelings.

"He’s just a man. We broke up, so we broke up. Do I need to make a life-or-death drama out of it for a man?" Sienna replied with a light laugh, her tone half-serious and half-joking.

In the corridor, nurses were starting their shifts. As they passed, they couldn’t help but glance a few extra times at Noah Phillips.

"You don’t seem to want to tell me anything anymore," Noah said, his expression tinged with disappointment.

Sienna Johnson smiled awkwardly. "You’re so busy. I can’t bother you with such trivial matters."

"As long as it concerns you, nothing is a trivial matter to me!"

"Brother, I’m not that fragile. I can handle things on my own."

"I want to protect you!" Noah Phillips stood in front of Sienna Johnson. Seeing the bloodstains on her clothes and her somewhat disheveled appearance, a pang of pain shot through his heart. He reached out to touch her hair, and Sienna was startled.

"Brother, I’m not a child anymore. I can protect myself."

"But you always end up getting hurt."

Sienna thought he was referring to the blood on her clothes and explained, "This blood isn’t mine; it’s Adrian’s. Brother, I’m alright."

"Baby, how about marrying me?"

Noah Phillips’s words had the impact of Mars colliding with Earth. Sienna’s mind instantly went blank, and she stood there, utterly dumbfounded.

"Of course, I can’t marry into your family, but we can have two children in the future—one with the surname Johnson, and the other with the surname Phillips. What do you think?" Noah proposed, his expression just as nervous as he looked at Sienna.
