Chapter 433 - 434: Where Did Dad Go
Chapter 433 - 434: Where Did Dad Go
Reggie Dewey became more and more excited as he spoke, and Sienna Johnson couldn’t bear to interrupt him. Reggie spoke for over ten minutes before stopping.
"President Johnson, what do you think?" Reggie stopped and asked.
"Well..." What could Sienna say?
"President Johnson, how about you give me just a year? Just one year, let me try, I will definitely succeed!" Reggie looked at Sienna expectantly.
Under his gaze, Sienna felt great pressure. She tactfully said, "Reggie, I must reiterate that we are a business, not a research institution. The ultimate goal of a business is profit."
Reggie interrupted Sienna’s words and hurriedly said, "As long as the research is successful, we can also make a profit!"
"Alright, you prepare a feasibility report for me, and I will discuss it with everyone later. If we think it’s feasible, I can allocate funds for you. How does that sound?"
Reggie gratefully looked at Sienna. "Thank you, President Johnson! I will send you the feasibility report as soon as possible."
Amos Carter looked at Reggie disapprovingly, his tone sarcastic. "What’s the matter with you? We’ve studied this before, and your research topic has no market value. Why are you still so stubborn? If you want to do research so badly, why not go to a research institution instead of working at our pharmaceutical factory?"
Reggie replied confidently, "I have dreams and ambitions! I came to the pharmaceutical factory instead of a research institution because I want my research results to be more than just a report, but to quickly become a medicine to be launched in the market, achieve results, and benefit patients!" Reggie paused, then sharply said, "Of course, this dream, this ambition, with Deputy Manager Chris’s mindset, is impossible to understand!"
"You?"
Reggie said, "President Johnson, I will prepare the report now. I will send it to you as soon as possible!"
"Alright..."
Reggie left in a hurry, leaving behind a group of people and her, the "big leader". How did someone so clueless about social etiquette even survive this long?
This interlude passed, and after inspecting the pharmaceutical factory, Sienna left with her entourage.
In the car, Vivian Abbey looked at the pensive Sienna but didn’t dare to disturb her. She and Mr. Leonard both remained quiet, allowing Sienna to think silently.
Mr. Leonard drove Sienna home, and Sienna said to him, "You take Vivian home."
Vivian said, "President Johnson, I can take a taxi home by myself."
"It’s quite far from where you live. Let Mr. Leonard take you."
Sienna insisted, and Vivian had to obey.
As soon as Sienna got out of the car, Curly came back. "Mom!" Curly got out of another car, and Sienna saw Lucas Robertson and Kiki.
Lucas had been sticking to Kiki lately, doing nothing else, but Kiki was becoming increasingly dismissive of him, and their relationship was now approaching a freezing point.
"Curly, hello."
"Auntie Vivian, you’ve lost weight!" Curly’s little mouth was sweet.
Vivian’s biggest headache was her weight problem. She had an easy-to-gain-weight physique and could gain weight even from drinking cold water. Being with Sienna, people might think she was the pregnant one.
In fact, she didn’t even have a boyfriend. How embarrassing was that?
Vivian touched her face and smiled shyly. "Really? I don’t feel like I’ve lost weight recently?"
Sienna couldn’t help but laugh. "I think you look good with some extra weight. My mom is very fond of chubby girls like you."
Vivian’s face darkened. "President Johnson, my surname is Abbey, yet I’m still chubby. Do you know the suffering of someone like me?"
"Have some confidence, Vivian. You’re great!" Sienna only said this to her, then left with Curly.
"Were you well-behaved at school today?" Sienna gently touched her daughter’s hair, her voice soft.
Curly pouted and said defiantly, "It was fine."
"What does ’fine’ mean?"
Kiki came over and explained, "She fought a little boy at school today..."
"Curly, you hit someone again?" Sienna looked at her daughter disapprovingly. "How many times have I told you not to use violence to solve problems?"
Curly didn’t care. "Dad said that when others don’t understand what you’re saying, there’s no need to waste words! Use your fists to solve everything! I’m not wrong; if you don’t believe me, ask Dad."
"..."
"Mom, where’s Dad? Where did Dad go?"
"Your dad went on a business trip. It will be a while before he can come back."
I had originally wanted to talk to him, but then the incident at the pharmaceutical factory happened, and we missed our chance. It seems I can only wait for him to return.
"Why didn’t Dad tell Curly when he went on a business trip?"
"Isn’t it the same if I tell you?"
"Of course, it’s different!"
"Why is it different?"
"Is hearing it from him personally the same as hearing it from someone else? ...Mom, do you know what this means?"
Faced with her daughter’s righteous words, Sienna’s mood greatly improved, and even the unpleasantness from the daytime factory drama disappeared.
"What does it mean?"
Curly shook her head and sighed. "It means not enough love!"
Sienna would have spat out her drink if she’d been sipping one. She touched her daughter’s hair. "Your dad doesn’t love you enough? You’ve wheedled so many good things out of him; you have several boxes of diamonds already."
"Hmph, he dares to leave without saying a word. Even if Adrian comes back and gives me a truck full of diamonds, I won’t forgive him!"
"How can you call your dad by his first name? That’s impolite."
Curly stomped away angrily, and Kiki chased after her. Lucas followed behind in a panic, "You’re pregnant, don’t run!"
As they walked inside, Lucas followed closely. Sienna glanced at him and shook her head gently. Lucas’s road to winning his wife back was a long one.
"Lucas, come to the study for a moment, I have something to say to you," Sienna called out to Lucas.
Lucas turned his head with a puzzled look on his face, not understanding why Sienna, who had always ignored him, suddenly wanted to talk to him.
"I’ve encountered some trouble and need your help."
Today’s pharmaceutical factory issue still needs Lucas to investigate; I feel that things aren’t that simple.
Lucas nodded.
Sienna and Lucas went to the study to discuss matters, while Kiki led Curly to the kitchen to make her a fruit salad.
Lucas had never felt this way before, but now he was suddenly jealous of Curly. Kiki was too good to her. If Kiki could show him even a fraction of that kindness, he would willingly die for her.
「Inside the study.」
Sienna sat in the chair behind the desk and said to Lucas, "Sit!" She pointed to a chair on her right.
"Hmm."
