Chapter 240: A Righteous Beast Like Me
Chapter 240: A Righteous Beast Like Me
Upon hearing this, the other Snow Tiger Beastman Warriors immediately turned their gazes to the tribe members holding the deep blue crystals.
A moment later, the beastmen were wrestling in a heap, each trying to be the first to taste the salt from their Polar Forest.
By now, Yuan Qi had calmed down. He looked at Wu Yue and Yuan Lang, his gaze intense. "You two cubs have done something incredible for the tribe. The entire Snow Tiger Tribe will grow stronger because of you."
Wu Yue, however, took a step back, revealing Teng Qian and Teng Kun, who were standing not far behind Yuan Lang, squabbling over a piece of meat.
"Uncle, it was Yuanlang Warrior, Teng Qian, and Teng Kun who discovered the salt. Even if I hadn’t fallen down, they would have come back up and told us."
Yuan Lang’s gaze deepened as he watched the cheerful young female beside him, and his heart softened.
"Yuan Lang even said we shouldn’t tell you. He said you wouldn’t believe us anyway, and that we’d be better off taking it back to tell the witch and the Clan Leader directly."
Yuan Lang: "..."
’If I ever said that, I’ll rip my own head off and kick it around like a ball.’
Feeling the piercing gaze from beside him, the Beastman’s scalp prickled. "Father, do I look like the kind of beastman who would say such a thing?"
With that, he blinked, trying to look as innocent as possible.
Yuan Qi: "..."
’That’s just painful to watch...’
"If you didn’t say that, then why wait until now to tell me something so important?"
Yuan Qi said sternly, determined to maintain his dignity as a father.
Yuan Lang’s eyes lit up. ’He’d been saddled with the blame; what better time to throw it off?’
He immediately pointed at the gloating Wu Yue beside him. "Father, it was all Yue’s idea! She said that if we told you early, you’d blab it to everyone. Then the Black Wolf Tribe would find out, and we’d be cut out of the picture!"
Yuan Qi laughed with exasperation. "The two of you... you’re a right pair of troublemakers."
With that, he shot them a glare, then started licking the salt in his hand as he walked over to his old friends.
’His own cub discovered salt. He could brag about this for a hundred years.’
After he left, Yuan Lang and Wu Yue stared at each other for a long moment.
"When did I ever say Uncle Yuan Qi was a blabbermouth?"
Wu Yue demanded, glaring at Yuan Lang.
Yuan Lang chuckled dryly. "And when did I say we shouldn’t tell my father?"
"Boss, you two should just drop it. It’s not like either of you came out looking good!"
Wu Yue: "..."
Yuan Lang: "..."
"Boss, should we gather some salt to take back when we leave?"
Teng Kun marveled to himself as he took huge bites of the roasted meat in his hand.
’Meat roasted with non-bitter salt was simply heavenly.’
But Wu Yue and Yuan Lang both shook their heads in unison. "We can’t."
Yuan Lang glanced in the direction of the Black Wolf Tribe’s territory. "We’re still deep in their lands. Gathering the salt would mean staying here for a while longer, and we’d be easily discovered by a Black Wolf Tribe Hunting Team."
His gaze grew intense. "This salt can only belong to our Snow Tiger Tribe."
Teng Qian couldn’t help but remark, "Boss, when you’re not up to no good, you’re actually pretty charismatic when you get serious."
Yuan Lang’s dark eyes narrowed. "An upright beastman such as myself? When have I ever done anything wrong? Aren’t you the one who gets into trouble?"
Teng Qian looked aghast. "Boss, aren’t you the one telling me to do it?"
The banter between the two beastmen caught Wu Yue’s attention. She leaned in curiously. "What kind of trouble have you two been getting into?"
