Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 992 - 991: Collapse

Chapter 992 - 991: Collapse

"What did you say?" The two sisters thought they had heard wrong and looked at Xu Ke with disbelief.

"I said, would you like to stay by my side?" Xu Ke repeated his question.

"But there’s something I need to tell you upfront: it’s impossible for my women to be just the two of you. If you can accept that, I will take good care of you and love you well in the future. If you cannot accept it, that’s okay too. Whatever you need, whether it’s money or anything else, as long as I can do it, I will." Xu Ke said.

This was the greatest concession Xu Ke could make, and also the greatest guarantee.

He couldn’t promise them anything more, and he never promised what he couldn’t fulfill. Xu Ke had always been like this.

Tangtang and Guoguo, hearing Xu Ke’s words, felt overwhelmed for a moment. There was too much information, and their minds couldn’t process it.

"What do you mean by saying it won’t be just the two of us?" Guoguo asked after a moment of silence, looking up at Xu Ke.

"Just the literal meaning." Xu Ke couldn’t introduce Lin Mengyao and Ariel to Tangtang and Guoguo at the moment. The information he could reveal was limited, as he needed to protect the safety of those around him.

Guoguo’s face turned pale upon hearing this.

She remembered how Xu Ke had rejected her before. At that time, she felt sad and disappointed but thought Xu Ke was a good person and a good man.

But now, she’s not sure if her thoughts were correct. Perhaps she had built too grand an image of Xu Ke and couldn’t tolerate any flaw. That’s why the statue belonging to Xu Ke in her heart crumbled upon hearing this news.

"I’m sorry, I’m not feeling well, I’m going back to my room." Guoguo suddenly stood up from the dining table, causing the chair to screech across the floor.

She didn’t hear what Xu Ke said afterward; she just stumbled to her room, threw herself on the bed, and covered her head with a quilt, her mind chaotic, thinking about who knows what.

The living room was left with just Tangtang and Xu Ke.

"It seems she can’t accept it, what about you? What are your thoughts?" Xu Ke asked, looking at Tangtang.

Tangtang was also very concerned about the phrase "not just the two of us" coming from Xu Ke. Initially, she accepted the three of them together because Guoguo was her sister, and they had said from a young age that they wanted to marry the same person when they grew up.

Although people say what is spoken in childhood can’t be trusted and are mere jokes, Tangtang remembered those words. She never saw it as a joke or child’s play.

Instead, she treated it as a vow, which is why she quickly accepted the idea of the three of them together. But now, if told it’s not just three people, but possibly 4, 5, or even more.

This shock is unimaginable for Tangtang; it’s simply absurd, absurd to the point of being ridiculous.

She really can’t persuade herself to accept sharing a husband with other, unknown women in the future.

"I’m sorry, my mind is a bit messed up right now, I can’t give you an answer, can you give me some time?" Tangtang said with an expression of thought.

"Of course, if you’ve made up your mind, you can come find me at any time." Xu Ke promised.

Tangtang didn’t leave the dining room like Guoguo did; instead, she sat down, examining Xu Ke with a probing look, scrutinizing him up and down as if she wanted to see through him.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Xu Ke asked.

"Why so many people? Aren’t the two of us enough?" Tangtang asked, confused.

She truly didn’t understand why Xu Ke was so greedy, or if all men were the same underneath, no matter how good they appeared, being the kind who couldn’t be content with what they had.

Even if the food in their bowl was delicious, they always thought others had something better, always wanting to try a bite or simply take it for themselves.

This mindset was something Tangtang could not comprehend.

"I thought you were different from other men. When Guoguo and I came to you, you rejected us. I thought you couldn’t accept the idea of us three living together. Now, it seems I was wrong. I seem to have never truly understood you, yet I assumed I did." Tangtang said, looking at Xu Ke’s eyes.

Xu Ke met Tangtang’s gaze and said, after a moment of silence, "Maybe the filter you gave me was too thick, thinking I saved you made me a great person, thinking I cared about you made me a good man."

"But in reality, I’ve never considered myself a good person or a good man, because good people never kill, but I’ve killed, good men never have two women simultaneously, but I have, and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it." Xu Ke said, quietly.

"Why did you reject Guoguo and me back then? Was it because we weren’t pretty enough, or for some other reason?" Tangtang asked, puzzled. If he wasn’t a virtuous gentleman, why did he reject them?

"You are very beautiful, more beautiful than most people I’ve met." Xu Ke said honestly, looking at Tangtang’s face.

"If you think we’re beautiful, why didn’t you accept us? Was it some sort of reverse psychology or what?" Tangtang asked sharply, her tone vastly different from her usual attitude towards Xu Ke.

But Xu Ke maintained an accepting posture.

During the time when Tangtang and Guoguo were unconscious, Xu Ke had thought a lot about their possible reactions after hearing his words.

So Tangtang’s change in attitude was within his expectations.

"It wasn’t because of reverse psychology or any other reason; it was simply because our vibes didn’t match. I rejected you because I saw you as my sisters, and having inappropriate thoughts about sisters is very wrong." Xu Ke said slowly.

"Then why did you agree now? Why did you touch us in that room? If you hadn’t, none of this would happen, right?" Tangtang asked persistently.

"I did think about sending you to the hospital, but what that woman said changed my mind. I couldn’t gamble your future on whether her words were true or false. I’m afraid when you wake up you’ll hate me, though it seems you don’t appear like you would now," Xu Ke said with a helpless smile.

"You can’t have everything; even if I had the chance again, I wouldn’t regret my decision."
