Chapter 969 - 968: Team Building

Chapter 969 - 968: Team Building

Xu Ke’s ruthless display tonight successfully intimidated a bunch of troublemakers. After dealing with them, it was already very late, but Xu Ke had promised they’d go to a team-building event, so he wouldn’t go back on his word.

Xu Ke contacted one of his subordinates and had him reach out to a private party venue, booking the entire place. He also arranged for a few vehicles to come and pick them up.

Everything was ready, and now it was just time to set off.

Xu Ke counted the number of people and led more than twenty individuals to the party location.

To ease transportation, the employee responsible for finding vehicles got a large bus, which could carry a lot of people at once, and kept the atmosphere lively inside.

Upon arriving at the party location, the group was bubbling with excitement, their faces filled with curiosity.

Thinking about their usual leisure spots, it was either clubs or nightclubs, internet cafes, gambling tables, or even racetracks. Despite their age, they had never attended a place like this, so everything was novel to them.

Their wide-eyed looks made the staff member left to host them roll their eyes in disdain, muttering "country bumpkins" under their breath.

Xu Ke glanced in the direction of the staff, "Let’s not stand outside any longer, let’s go inside and play." Xu Ke said.

With that, Xu Ke led the group towards the party venue, but unexpectedly, a staff member stepped in front of Xu Ke, blocking the way. "Sorry, sir, the party venue is booked tonight."

"I know, I made the booking," Xu Ke nodded in acknowledgment.

"Could you please state your name?" The staff, looking Xu Ke up and down, asked.

Xu Ke provided his name. The staff glanced at Xu Ke from head to toe and said, "Sorry, the person who booked our venue tonight is surnamed Song, not Xu. Please leave."

Xu Ke didn’t get a chance to speak before the employee responsible for booking spoke up, "No way, I booked your venue. I even have the call recording, and I’ve paid the deposit. You’re joking if you say I didn’t book it."

"I’m not joking. That’s the notification I have. If you have any complaints, please contact customer service. Discussing it with me won’t help; I’m just following protocol," the staff replied, appearing official but visibly impatient.

The employee Xu Ke brought along was stubborn. Hearing the staff’s words, he immediately pulled out his phone and called the number previously given by the staff, but there was no answer despite the phone ringing loudly in the venue.

The employee smirked coldly, lowered his phone, and glared at the staff. "You said you didn’t know? Wasn’t it you who answered my call earlier? Pretending to know nothing now, do you think it’s funny? What are you trying to do by creating this situation?"

Faced with the employee’s accusatory tone, the staff dropped all pretenses, practically branding the words "look down on" on their forehead.

"Yes, I did take your call, but I’m sorry, this venue is not available for you. You don’t have the rights to use it."

"Why not? We’ve already paid the deposit!"

"So what? I’ve already agreed to rent the venue to Mr. Song, and their deposit is much higher than yours. There are two options for you now: either leave now, and I’ll call you when the venue’s available, or I refund your deposit and you find another place," the staff arrogantly responded.

"Aren’t you going too far?" The employee’s face turned pale with anger due to the staff’s words.

"So what if I am? Those are the only two options. Take it or leave it. But please, take your clunky bus and leave immediately. Mr. Song will be here soon, and I have to cater to them. I don’t have time to waste on you."

The staff’s words infuriated everyone. The men Xu Ke brought had never been spoken to like this, feeling as if their dignity was smeared with gutter oil, leaving them no face at all.

Just as they were about to argue, the sound of cars came from behind them, a few relatively luxurious vehicles rolled in.

Although these cars didn’t impress Xu Ke too much, they certainly cost more than the usual ones, albeit not top-tier luxury or limited edition. Compared to the bus they had hired, there was an undeniable class difference.

The stark contrast was most apparent in the staff’s differential treatment, their service attitude worlds apart.

The moment the other cars arrived and stopped, the staff put on a big smile, quickly went over, and began to fawn over them.

Apparently, her flattery worked well, as the man referred to as Mr. Song immediately took out a wad of cash from his wallet, not even caring about the amount, and shoved it all to the staff, making her even more sycophantic.

"Who are they? Didn’t we rent this venue for tonight? Why are there so many unrelated people here blocking the entrance? It’s really unlucky and annoying," Mr. Song said impatiently, looking at Xu Ke and his group standing at the door.

"Don’t worry, I’ll make them leave right away," the staff said, holding the tip Mr. Song gave and grinning widely.

"Make us leave? On what grounds? We also booked the venue for tonight and paid the deposit. Why should we leave? You’re the one who greedily took money from both parties. Why should we pay for your mistake?" Xu Ke’s employee retorted indignantly.

"You took money from both parties?" Mr. Song stopped, looking incredulously at the staff who was still trying to ingratiate themselves beside him. "Explain clearly, what’s going on?"
