Chapter 925 - 924: The Police Have Arrived

The heartfelt words of the onlookers echoed with agreement. Since they couldn’t determine the right or wrong of this matter, to protect the girl on the bed, neither of the two men could take her away.

Although Xu Ke could forcibly take He Qing away, there was no need for that. Therefore, he didn’t oppose the proposal of the crowd and nodded openly.

Xu Ke had nothing to hide, so he was naturally not guilty, but the other man was different. He knew how the woman on the bed had gotten there, so he couldn’t just allow them to call the police. If his jaw hadn’t been dislocated, he could have spoken up to get people on his side.

But now he had lost his voice from the start and also lost the initiative. To avoid ending up in jail, the man’s eyes darted around as he planned to leave.

Just as he quickly got up from the ground and tried to rush to the door, a long leg suddenly stretched out in front of him, blocking him entirely at the entrance.

"If you’re not guilty, why are you running? The police haven’t even arrived, nothing is settled yet, you can’t go anywhere."

Xu Ke smiled as he blocked the man’s escape route.

The passionate bystander, while angrily shouting, stretched out a foot and kicked the man twice through Xu Ke.

Perhaps because he had a daughter at home, the bystander’s kicks were heavy, directly sending the man sprawling backward. Xu Ke raised an eyebrow slightly at the scene and sidestepped, offering a better opportunity for the crowd to strike.

Xu Ke’s actions seemed like tacit consent. Previously, the crowd was cautious because Xu Ke stood in between, but once Xu Ke stepped aside, they let loose completely.

Some with hot tempers rushed forward and kicked the man back down as he tried to get up. The crowd formed a circle, surrounding the man and kicking him joyously.

Xu Ke, meanwhile, retreated to the bedside, coming in front of He Qing. Hearing the commotion, He Qing opened her eyes to look at Xu Ke, and seeing a familiar face in such a circumstance, tears rolled down her cheeks again.

"Don’t cry just yet. Are you feeling any better? Can you move? If you can, blink once, if not, blink twice." Xu Ke said, looking at He Qing lying on the bed.

He Qing quickly blinked twice, her eyes full of reliance as she looked at Xu Ke.

"Don’t worry or be afraid. When I came up, I already notified the police, and they should be arriving soon. I also informed your brother, and he should be on his way here too. I just don’t know if the police or your brother will arrive first."

Xu Ke gently wiped the tears from He Qing’s face with his thumb.

Xu Ke’s expression was casual and normal, and his actions were extremely natural, but He Qing, lying on the bed, felt her heart in turmoil.

She quickly closed her eyes, not daring to look at Xu Ke’s face at this moment, afraid that a single glance would make her lose composure and reveal her feelings.

But it’s hard to hide when you like someone. Even if she closed her eyes to prevent her emotions from leaking through them, her body’s reactions couldn’t lie.

Her face was red like an apple, paired with her youthful skin full of collagen, making anyone who saw it want to bite or kiss it because the scene was just too adorable.

Besides, everyone’s attention was focused on the man, and the only person not watching the man, He Qing, had her eyes closed. Therefore, Xu Ke stayed unnoticed in that moment.

On the other side, when the crowd finally got tired of beating and decided to take a break, the man was no longer recognizable. Compared to before, his face was swollen at least twice its original size, colorful like a painter’s palette.

Just as Xu Ke was wondering whether He Chen or the police would arrive first, He Chen and the police met downstairs.

"Young Master He, hello."

The leading officer had met He Chen before and, knowing He Chen’s status, treated him with special courtesy.

"I wonder if Young Master He is here for something? If there’s anything you need, please feel free to instruct us." The leading officer said respectfully to He Chen.

"No need, I’m here to pick someone up." He Chen replied with a face full of hostility.

The officer doubted his own hearing, looking up at the basically nameless hotel, unable to believe what kind of person could make He Chen humble himself to come here.

But He Chen had no mind to pay attention to the officers’ behavior or guess their thoughts. He only knew his sister had been drugged and brought to such a place.

Thinking of what might have happened to his sister, He Chen couldn’t contain the hostility that overwhelmed him, and the only thought in his mind was to make the culprit pay.

No matter who the other party was or what their intentions were, they couldn’t be allowed to live after harming his sister.

He Chen, followed by the police, arrived at the door of the room on the second floor. Seeing a large crowd gathered at the doorway, his face darkened further, almost dripping black ink, as he imagined various terrifying scenarios.

"Is the person you’re looking for in here?" A later officer asked in confusion, seeing He Chen standing silently at the hotel’s door.

As if not hearing him, He Chen had his bodyguard push through the crowd and entered the hotel room.

Seeing his sister lying alright on the bed, with Xu Ke guarding by her side, and her clothes intact, He Chen let out a long sigh of relief.

The coldness in his eyes subsided a bit.

"Who did this?" He Chen asked, stroking his sister’s face.

Xu Ke pointed with his chin in the direction of the man and said, "The person you’re looking for is over there."
