Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 886: Interrogation

Chapter 886: Interrogation

After a long period of silence, the man finally realized something was wrong. He quietly opened his eyes and looked in the direction opposite to Scar and another person. What he saw were two people looking in his direction with expressions of shock, as if they had seen a ghost in broad daylight.

The underling’s face also turned pale, influenced by the atmosphere, "What did you see? What’s behind me? Why do you have that expression? Don’t scare me." The underling wasn’t very brave, and seeing their expressions, he couldn’t imagine what he might have seen. Xu Ke watched as the patient’s gown on his body was soaked with sweat, and his whole body was trembling so pitifully that no one had the heart to scare him further.

"Say something! Don’t stay silent, I’m scared." The underling’s voice trembled slightly, with a wavy line, looking very pitiful.

"Behind you!" The other underling stretched out his uninjured hand, looking fearfully behind his brother. The already scared underling trembled even more.

"What’s behind me? What’s behind me? Speak clearly, I’m scared." By this time, the underling was shaking like a patient with a disease, and the hospital bed was making creaking sounds.

Seeing their timid demeanor, the old drunkard’s face twisted for a moment. Honestly, he didn’t know what kind of expression to present, but he managed to maintain a serious appearance through sheer willpower.

Just as Xu Ke was considering whether to pat the man’s shoulder, Scar, with a pale face and who had been silent, spoke, "There’s someone behind you."

Following his words, Xu Ke patted the underling’s shoulder. Originally, he thought Scar’s warning would settle things, but unexpectedly, the underling flipped off the bed like a carp, barefoot, screaming as he ran to Scar’s bed, leaving everyone else speechless.

Once the underling leaped onto his boss’s bed, he finally felt like looking at who was standing by his bed. Upon discovering it was Xu Ke, the underling’s expression became colorful for a moment, but the backdrop remained pale. His gaze towards Xu Ke was filled with fear, even feeling pain in his shoulder.

"What are you here for? Haven’t you done enough by beating us this way?" Scar raised his hand, wrapped like a pig’s trotter, looking pale as he addressed Xu Ke. However, Xu Ke had left such a deep impression on him that he didn’t even dare to speak loudly, fearing that Xu Ke might beat him up again.

Moreover, this time they were in a hospital, so Xu Ke might handle them more severely, as emergency treatment would be convenient.

Scar’s face turned even whiter with his frightening imagination, as if he was about to ascend to heaven at any moment.

The old drunkard glanced at Xu Ke beside him, not knowing what to say. He wanted to know what Xu Ke had done to these people to scare them so badly.

Xu Ke’s face showed no emotions, and his gaze towards them was gentle and polite, making people feel friendly. Yet, it caused the three men opposite him to shiver defensively, as if Xu Ke was an intimidating figure.

"Don’t misunderstand; I’m not here to beat you up. Beating people is tiring, and I’m not that idle. We’re just here to ask you some questions. If you cooperate, it’s good for everyone. But if not, I don’t mind taking some leisure time." Xu Ke said with a smile.

Is that a threat? Isn’t that a blatant threat? The three of them silently screamed in their hearts, but no one dared to retort Xu Ke or show any sign of non-cooperation.

In fact, as long as they could get rid of this plague, answering a few questions would be no problem, even hundreds of them.

The old drunkard was prepared for them to stay silent, even devising ways to interrogate them without alerting others. But who would have thought they would cooperate so well, with Xu Ke only needing to glance at them for them to confess everything, almost swearing by it.

Watching these three, the old drunkard fell into silence once more.

"Don’t you have something to ask? Now that they’re in front of you, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and ask." Xu Ke said, patting the old drunkard’s shoulder as he fell into silence again.

The old drunkard gave Xu Ke an indescribable look before starting his questioning.

The three indeed spoke without reservation, answering every question fluently, so fluently that the old drunkard was thrown into self-doubt. When he really heard the name he suspected from their mouths, his expression turned serious and grim.

The three of them, like elementary school students, sat in a row answering the old drunkard’s questions. They turned their gaze to Xu Ke, unsure what mistake they had made to cause the old drunkard’s expression. They didn’t care much about his thoughts, but they feared Xu Ke might become dissatisfied and decide to be a leisurely idler.

They hoped Xu Ke would stay busy rather than idle.

As if seeing their concerns, Xu Ke gave them a reassuring look. Just one look was enough to make them feel honored, even trembling with excitement.

The old drunkard sat a while longer before standing up from his chair, looking at Xu Ke with suppressed anger and said, "Let’s go."

Xu Ke nodded indifferently, then turned to the three men who were staring at him and said, "Thanks for your cooperation earlier."

"You’re welcome, it was our duty, our duty." The three, watching the polite Xu Ke, immediately became anxious and nervous.

After seeing off Xu Ke, the three men’s stiff spines immediately collapsed. One underling cautiously, almost like a thief, whispered, "Should we inform the other side?"

But just as he made the suggestion, Scar shot him a glare.

"Are you stupid? If we tell them, won’t it be obvious that we sold them out? Can’t you just pretend like you don’t know anything? Today’s events stay in your gut, and don’t tell anyone. Just forget it ever happened, understand?" Scar instructed.

"Understood!"

"Understood!" replied the two underlings.
