Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 859: Incapable of Getting Things Done

Chapter 859: Incapable of Getting Things Done

Xu Ke originally wanted to teach this old lady a lesson, but didn’t expect that before he even had a chance to make a move, she would end up screwing herself over. Seeing her level of incompetence, Xu Ke’s suspicion about this old lady instantly vanished. Surely no organization would send someone like her to deal with him?

Watching the increasingly noisy crowd, Xu Ke kindly called 120 to prevent any delays in rescue should an incident occur.

"I really am such a kind person," Xu Ke sighed after hanging up the phone.

The young man at home was unaware that the first part of his plan had already hit a snag. By the time he woke up from his slumber, the sky outside was dyed a brilliant red by the sunset, looking extraordinarily beautiful.

Seeing dozens of missed calls from the same person on his phone, the young man instinctively felt that something bad had happened. His eyebrows twitched, but he still returned the call immediately.

"What was so urgent that you called me so many times?" the young man asked.

"Bro, we’ve got a problem. You told me to find someone to cause trouble for Xu Ke, but the person I sent over got into an accident and died," said a male voice on the other end of the phone.

"Dead?" The young man raised his voice, and then with a hint of excitement said, "Isn’t that great? Since the person died, Xu Ke won’t be able to clear his name. He should have been taken away by the police by now?" The young man’s smile widened, as if he couldn’t believe how smoothly his plan was unfolding.

"You handled this well. I’ll reward you generously. Just tell me what you want, as long as I have it or can get it, it’s yours," the young man bounded out of bed and paced excitedly around the room, thinking today was his lucky day. If he wasn’t worried about arousing suspicion, he would even throw a few firecrackers and then find a restaurant to celebrate.

However, the young man’s excitement didn’t last long, as the voice on the phone spoke again, "The person wasn’t killed by Xu Ke; it had nothing to do with him. They died after arguing with a group of people at the market." The voice on the phone was hesitant and quiet enough that if the young man hadn’t been paying close attention, he might have missed it.

"What did you say? Say that again!" The smile on the young man’s face instantly vanished, and he spoke, barely containing his anger.

The person on the other end shuddered at the young man’s tone but bravely repeated what he had just said.

"I asked you to find someone, and this is who you got? Did they even know what their mission was or who their target was? Why were they wasting time arguing with others? I told them to set up Xu Ke, so what were they trying to do? Get into a fight with everyone at the market? Is there something wrong with their head? huh?"

The young man was nearly beside himself with frustration, feeling his blood pressure soar, thinking that his survival up to this point was purely due to his resilience.

"Tell me how you found this person? Can’t you find someone reliable to get the job done? Did you fail to explain the task properly, or did they just not follow through? Tell me." By the end, the young man was too exhausted to continue his tirade, overwhelmed with a sense of futility, questioning why he would choose such a person for such a critical task. He had to admit, he was filled with regret.

The man on the other end sensed the young man’s distress and quickly spoke up, "I don’t know why she did such a thing, but I explained the task clearly. You have to believe me."

"Then tell me, why would she do this?"

"Maybe it’s because she’s too old and just forgot." The man on the other end fell into an awkward silence, but then, noticing the young man’s growing impatience, he quickly added.

"What?" The young man hadn’t heard clearly and asked, frowning.

The man on the other end realized there was no escaping this, so he straightforwardly repeated what he had just said.

This time it was the young man who fell silent.

The man on the other end gathered his courage again, but in the young man’s silence, his heart began to waver once more, his newfound courage deflating like a burst balloon.

"How old is the person you found?" The young man’s voice was dry as he asked.

"Eighty-two or eighty, I can’t remember exactly." The person on the other end replied.

"For fuck’s sake." The young man felt a rush of anger rising to his head, causing him to feel lightheaded.

"Are you out of your mind, or did I hear wrong? You actually sent an over-eighty-year-old to set someone up. What the hell, is your brain made of mush? Or has your stomach been acting up and your brain just passed through your intestines? Sending an over-eighty-year-old to set someone up, that’s some next-level genius, seriously, I almost want to give you a round of applause." The young man was so infuriated, he was laughing.

"But didn’t you say it would be best to get him into jail?" The person on the other end cautiously replied.

"But what’s that got to do with finding someone over eighty to set him up?" The young man suppressed his anger as he asked.

"At that age, they’re the most likely to cause an incident and the least to care about consequences," the person on the other end saw no flaw in his choice and answered, with a hint of grievance in his tone.

The young man laughed bitterly at this, "So in the end, this is somehow my fault? Are you completely out of your mind, or was I blind when I picked you as my key operative? How did I ever think you were a promising talent? I wanted you to frame Xu Ke and get him into jail, but I didn’t say to use someone that old. How hard is it to come up with a better plan? Stab yourself and pin it on Xu Ke, ever thought of that? Is that method so hard to think of? Do you even think before you act?"

The young man felt a strong urge to reach through the phone line and see what’s inside the person’s head, wondering if there’s any brain matter left.

The man on the other end was about to explain more, but the young man cut him off, "I don’t want to talk to you anymore; I’m afraid I’ll die of anger if I do. From now on, don’t call me without my permission. Goodbye." With that, the young man decisively hung up the phone.
