Supreme Dragon Lord

Chapter 470: Distress!

Chapter 470: Distress!

Chu Lingjun proposed to Long Xin, "That guy has caused us so much misery. Shouldn’t we teach him a lesson?"

"Teach him a lesson?" Long Xin’s brows knitted together as she immediately shook her head. "That wouldn’t be right!"

"What’s not right about it?" Chu Lingjun scoffed. "We’re the ones with the headache while he’s comfortable, with beautiful women throwing themselves at him. How can we let him have it so easy? We have to teach him a lesson. Only then will he understand the gravity of the situation. Don’t you agree?"

"I suppose that makes sense." Long Xin nodded slightly but still hesitated. "But if we do that, won’t it..."

"There are no ’buts’," Chu Lingjun cut in sharply. "We must teach him a lesson. That’s the only way he’ll start taking this seriously. When you’re dealing with a man, you can’t just let him have his way all the time. Otherwise, we’ll be the only ones who suffer." Seeing that Long Xin was still hesitant, Chu Lingjun pressed on, "Just listen to me on this. I guarantee you won’t regret it!"

Meanwhile, Long Chen was on pins and needles. His heart was full of anxiety. He had no idea how the conversation between Long Xin and Chu Lingjun was going, and he was deeply worried. Long Xin was clearly furious earlier. Have they started fighting by now?

But after calming down and thinking about it, he realized he was being too anxious. If those two really came to blows, they’d probably tear this entire pavilion apart.

With that thought, Long Chen calmed down a bit. However, more questions immediately followed. But it’s completely quiet. No arguing, no fighting, not even a stir. What in the world is going on?

He was utterly baffled, unable to make sense of the situation. He desperately needed to know what was happening between Long Xin and Chu Lingjun. Without hesitation, he activated his Divine Demon Eye and looked toward the roof. However, when he saw the rooftop, Chu Lingjun and Long Xin were already gone. A moment later, they both came downstairs.

Long Chen walked forward to meet them. He glanced at them both, but seeing their cold expressions, he found himself at a loss for words. Still, he braced himself and asked, "What were you two talking about just now?"

"You’re better off not knowing," Chu Lingjun said, casting an indifferent glance at Long Chen before turning and walking away.

Her cold attitude left Long Chen bewildered. What is happening? His mind was reeling with questions as he turned to Long Xin. "Xin’er, you two..."

"I’m tired. I need to rest," Long Xin stated coolly before also leaving, stranding Long Chen where he stood.

Watching this unfold, Long Chen was even more dumbfounded. He had never seen Long Xin act so cold before. What’s wrong with them? They both seem furious with me. What am I supposed to do? And who do I try to placate first?! That’s the crucial part!

His thoughts were a tangled mess, and his heart was in turmoil. Just then, a hearty laugh echoed nearby. Long Chen turned to see Tang Le approaching.

"Why are you here?" Long Chen asked flatly.

Tang Le put on an innocent face. "I was bored in my room when I heard a commotion out here. I came to take a look and just happened to stumble upon this wonderful scene." At this, Tang Le couldn’t help but chuckle.

"What are you laughing at?" Long Chen frowned, glaring darkly at him.

Tang Le clamped his mouth shut and shook his head. "Nothing, just an observation. I just never thought I’d see the day that Brother Long, a man who doesn’t bat an eye at powerful enemies, would be cornered by two women."

Long Chen’s face darkened as he huffed, "Stop gloating."

Tang Le grinned. "You’ve managed to offend both of them at once. I’d love to see how you get out of this."

"What else can I do?" Long Chen looked at Tang Le. "I have to win them back over."

"But who will you try to appease first?" Tang Le asked, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.

The question immediately put Long Chen in a difficult position. He had no idea what to do. No matter who he went to first, the other one would surely end up hating him for it. Seeing Long Chen’s agonized expression, Tang Le looked like he was about to burst out laughing. Long Chen shot him a glare.

Feeling the sting of Long Chen’s stare, Tang Le’s smile vanished instantly. He grew serious and said, "Trying to appease them now will only make things more complicated. The most important thing for you to do right now is figure out who truly matters most in your heart. Don’t make a choice until you are absolutely certain. Let things unfold naturally. Wait for the right moment to act, and perhaps this whole situation will resolve itself."

Hearing Tang Le’s words, Long Chen fell silent.

"Alright, don’t overthink it," Tang Le said. "Since you’re feeling down, let’s go have a few drinks. Once that good wine is in your belly, all these troubles will vanish like smoke." As he spoke, Tang Le began pulling Long Chen away. Long Chen tried to refuse, but Tang Le gave him no chance, dragging him straight to a tavern in the city.

Meanwhile, Long Xin and Chu Lingjun were both waiting in their respective rooms, staring expectantly at their doors. Each hoped that Long Chen would come knocking on her door first. Their rooms were not far apart, and through the cracks in their windows, they could see each other’s room. They were both watching to see if Long Chen would go to their rival.

They waited for a long time, but Long Chen never came. Their anticipation slowly soured into disappointment, and in the privacy of their rooms, they both angrily cursed him as a bastard. Their only consolation was that he hadn’t gone to the other’s room either, which allowed them a small sigh of relief.

What they didn’t know was that Long Chen, at Tang Le’s urging, had already downed several pots of wine. Already burdened by his thoughts, the alcohol muddled his mind. All he wanted was to numb himself so he would stop overthinking. And so, under the anesthetic of alcohol, Long Chen fell into a drunken slumber.

Tang Le, on the other hand, was still relatively sober. He glanced at Long Chen and said with a faint smile, "You’re certainly blessed when it comes to women."

「The following day.」

The day of the Domain Alliance Grand Competition had arrived.

Long Chen awoke from a groggy state. Seeing him awake, Tang Le approached with a cup of tea. "How do you feel?"

"I’m fine." Long Chen shook his head. He couldn’t believe he had gotten drunk last night; his head still felt a bit fuzzy.

Tang Le handed the cup to him. "This is Sobering Tea. Drink it, you’ll feel better."

Long Chen nodded, took the Sobering Tea, and drank it all. As the tea settled in his stomach, the wooziness in his head vanished, and he felt much more clear-headed. He got up and walked out of the room. As soon as he stepped outside, he saw Long Xin and Chu Lingjun.

A smile immediately formed on his face, and he was about to greet them, but Long Xin and Chu Lingjun walked past him with icy indifference, as if he wasn’t even there. To them, Long Chen might as well have been thin air.

The expression on Long Chen’s face froze. Seeing their cold demeanor, he knew they were still fuming and decided to drop the idea of greeting them.

At the same time, Lei Zhen and his two companions walked toward them. Upon seeing their seniors, Long Chen’s group cupped their hands in a gesture of respect.

Lei Zhen and the others nodded in return. "Today is the day of the Domain Alliance Grand Competition," Lei Zhen announced. "Be careful out there. Just do your best. Your lives are the most important thing."

"Understood," Long Chen and the others replied with a nod.

At that moment, a gong rang out. Its sound was deafening, resonating with particular clarity in the ears of everyone from the Domain Alliance. Upon hearing it, the expressions of everyone present turned solemn.

The Domain Alliance Grand Competition had begun.
