Chapter 1987 - 1988: The Final Formation! (Fourth Update)

"You’re not my match; I’ll give you two choices: follow me or die!"

Xu Zhenzi, disheveled and bruised in several places on his face, was a formation genius defeated by someone just four or five years younger. Despite his main focus being formations, he felt a fiery embarrassment.

Shameful!

Losing to a young man not yet twenty, how could Xu Zhenzi concede?

This young man now wanted to make him a follower, threatening death if he refused.

"I know what you’re thinking, feeling ashamed to follow me, right?" The young man looked at Xu Zhenzi, seemingly able to see through his thoughts.

"You’re right, I, Xu Zhenzi, am a formation genius. The opportunities in this cave belong to me. There might be someone I would follow, but it’s definitely not you," Xu Zhenzi said.

Bam.

The young man immediately kicked, sending Xu Zhenzi rolling away.

"Do you think I just have more strength than you?"

The young man squatted down and stared at Xu Zhenzi, continuing, "Do you know about the Heavenly Palace?"

"You’re from the Heavenly Palace?" This time, it was Xu Zhenzi’s turn to be surprised.

A person standing behind the young man suddenly stepped forward and said, "Xu Zhenzi, the person before you is a Saint Heir of the Heavenly Palace. Many long to work for the Saint Heir; today, it’s your chance to follow him. Normal people wishing to follow the Saint Heir wouldn’t even get a second glance from him."

"Saint Heir..." Xu Zhenzi narrowed his gaze. Of course, he knew about the enormous Heavenly Palace. Despite his self-assessed talent, aiming to become a powerful formation cultivator, compared to the Heavenly Palace, he recognized his limits, and even his teacher dared not challenge them.

"You’re the Saint Heir of the Heavenly Palace?" Xu Zhenzi murmured, then suddenly hesitated, "Wasn’t the Heavenly Palace’s Saint Heir killed? Could it be they didn’t die?"

"Xu Zhenzi, the one before you is the Saint Heir. As for that other one, it’s not for you to discuss."

Upon hearing this, Xu Zhenzi understood that the person before him was a new Saint Heir. The previous heir’s sudden demise, suspected to involve the Black Fiend Sect, shook the entire ancestral land, even prompting the Heavenly Emperor to storm into the universe.

Unexpectedly, a new Saint Heir emerged so swiftly.

After pondering for a moment, Xu Zhenzi suddenly said, "Subordinate greets the Saint Heir!"

The new Saint Heir nodded with satisfaction, "Good, those who recognize the times are wise. You’ve done well; don’t worry, follow me, and I won’t let you suffer. Apart from the cave owner’s legacy, you can pick anything else you want."

"Thank you, Saint Heir," Xu Zhenzi pretended to express gratitude.

Actually, he was scheming in his heart; unable to defeat the other and unwilling to leave, it was better to feign loyalty. After all, the other was the Heavenly Palace’s Saint Heir, not something shameful, as long as the heir wanted the cave’s legacy while he aimed for the formation knowledge, not conflicting at all.

Xu Zhenzi planned to bide his time and act when the opportunity arose.

Later, the new Saint Heir asked Xu Zhenzi how long it would take to break the formation before them. Naturally, Xu Zhenzi wouldn’t give too short a timeframe, at least until he grasped the essence of the formation.

The responsibility of breaking the formation was handed to Xu Zhenzi, while the new Saint Heir rested nearby to conserve strength.

As for others, those lacking strength weren’t even able to make it here, blocked far behind.

...

Ye Qiu and Li Jin hadn’t walked far when they sensed the presence of other martial artists and hurried over.

Upon approaching, they found quite a crowd gathered, about twenty or so.

"Tsk tsk, more people are coming."

"And one even in the Broken Void Realm."

Their arrival caught the attention of about twenty people. Li Jin whispered to Ye Qiu identifying these people’s identities.

Ye Qiu couldn’t help but gaze at the few among them.

These young people were hardly ordinary, all second only to the Saint Heir, their strength formidable. Unless the Saint Heir appeared, these were basically the strongest of the young generation.

No wonder you could smell a sense of arrogance from afar.

However, Ye Qiu wasn’t concerned; what Saint Heir or not was all the same in his eyes, just defeated opponents.

"Haha, hiding behind a mask, afraid to show your face?"

"Maybe they’re just really ugly."

A few sharp-tongued individuals mocked as they looked at Ye Qiu.

"Who are you calling ugly?"

Ye Qiu suddenly countered, leaving the few geniuses momentarily startled.

Immediately, one retorted, "Calling you ugly."

"Calling me ugly? Haha..." Ye Qiu chuckled, saying no more.

At this moment, someone whispered a realization to that genius, causing him to rage, "Stand still."

"Ugly one, anything needed?"

"You dare insult me, kid, I think you’re asking for death."

The genius youth prepared to strike; Ye Qiu’s eyes flashed with divine light, staring at him. Ignoring such annoying nonsense, Ye Qiu swept a gaze filled with killing intent across.

Uh...

The genius was frightened by Ye Qiu’s look, suddenly mute.

Ye Qiu turned, leading Li Jin to the front of the crowd.

A large formation clearly lay ahead. To pass through it required either formation knowledge to unravel it or strength to forcefully break through.

These geniuses, second only to the Saint Heir, faced the formation, lacking the understanding to penetrate it or strength to brute-force through.

Under everyone’s gaze, Ye Qiu stepped into the formation’s interior, Li Jin promptly following.

"You... Don’t go..." The genius wanting to strike at Ye Qiu spoke up, perhaps seeking to reclaim some face, only speaking after Ye Qiu entered the big array.

His comment drew laughs from others, leaving the genius’s face flushed, defending with, "I was about to act; if he hadn’t run off, I’d have floored him."

"You guys think he can get through?"

"Hard to say; don’t know his actual strength. Earlier, his aura felt intimidating. Though brief, I think he might be at the Return to Void Realm level."

Numerous geniuses stayed blocked outside the formation while Ye Qiu led Li Jin, rapidly breaking through.

For the ancestral land’s geniuses, these formations were tough, but Ye Qiu took only minutes, shattering them effortlessly. Thus, they entered another formation and found several young martial artists at the Return to Void Realm.

Ye Qiu ignored them, leading Li Jin straight out, denying them any chance to speak.

After breezing through four formations, they arrived at the deepest part of the cave.

A huge mansion lay ahead; to enter it, they needed to dismantle the final formation blocking the way.

At this point, Ye Qiu noticed three figures ahead.
