Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband

Chapter 1443: Staying With Her Tonight

Chapter 1443: Staying With Her Tonight

Ethan Barnes did not speak immediately. He looked at Celeste Linden as if he were scrutinizing the truth in her words.

Celeste continued, "What I said is all true. Even if I don’t see my brother and Willow, they would want to see me. In that case, I might as well take the initiative to meet them and explain, to prevent any war between you. Your life and death have nothing to do with me, but I can’t watch my brother and Willow get hurt."

Ethan Barnes was silent for a few seconds, then nodded, "Okay, I’ll arrange it."

Speaking, Ethan Barnes pulled Celeste over to the luxury car, opened the passenger door, and pushed her inside. "Celeste, you said something wrong. My life and death are closely linked to yours. While I live, you are my woman. If one day I die, rest assured, I won’t let you live alone. I will definitely take you with me, to be buried with me."

He said he wanted her to be buried with him.

Celeste knew he was a psychopath, but she didn’t expect him to be this twisted. She didn’t doubt his words one bit; before he dies, he will surely kill her first.

Celeste closed her eyes and let Ethan drive her all the way back to the mansion.

...

This was Celeste’s second time at Ethan’s mansion, and she was still shocked by the luxury here. Just as she entered, the concubines flocked to her,

"King Hayden, you finally returned. You’ve been away for several days, we all missed you terribly."

"King Hayden, today please choose my card, let me serve you well."

Those beauties had bodies as soft as if they had no bones and were leaning against Ethan, but because there were so many people, it looked crowded and ridiculous.

Celeste could understand. With so many women in the harem and only Ethan as a man, they were of course lonely and vying for favor.

This time, Ethan did not reach out to embrace them left and right. He just said, "Go, go, step aside, I brought a newcomer today."

Only then did everyone notice Celeste. She was already known to them as they had seen her once before,

"Oh my god, it’s you again, the married woman."

"King Hayden, why did you bring this married woman back? Surely you aren’t serious?"

Ethan freely wrapped Celeste in his arms and announced high profile, "Celeste is divorced now. She belongs to me."

The beauties exchanged glances, King Hayden’s taste was really heavy.

Of course, what they despised even more was Celeste. In their eyes, what right did a married woman have to compete with them?

Truly overestimating herself.

"Someone."

"Yes, King Hayden."

"Arrange Miss Linden in the room next to mine."

Hiss.

As soon as these words were out, the beauties all inhaled sharply. The room next to Ethan... they wished so hard to live there but never succeeded. It was equivalent to an empress’s room, the one after the palace.

This married woman actually moved there upon entry, everyone was envious, jealous, and hateful.

"Oh right," Ethan added, "No need to pass cards tonight, my card is already flipped red."

Everyone knew, Ethan had turned Celeste’s card, he would stay with her tonight.

"Yes, King Hayden." The aides immediately went to execute the order.

Ethan reached out and pinched Celeste’s cheek, "Go rest in the room first, be clean and fragrant tonight waiting for me, I need to attend to some matters first."

Upon finishing, Ethan went upstairs to the study.

"Miss Linden, I’m your maid Cicely, the room is ready, please follow me." Cicely said.

Celeste ignored those women, turned and followed Cicely upstairs. Even when she reached the top floor, she could still feel the gaze of those women on her, like needles, wishing to pierce countless bloody holes on her.

...

Celeste stayed in the room without going out, she started completing her design drafts. This time, Ethan gave her a certain range of freedom, not affecting her work.

She already heard the noise from those women outside, all jealous of her to the extreme. Celeste handled it with composure; they say where there are women, there’s a battlefield. Here, with a large harem, it’s just a raging storm.

Celeste curled her red lips slightly, it didn’t matter. She came out of raging storms, never feared them; she just hoped they would come more fiercely!

Night soon fell, Cicely came to knock on the door, "Miss Linden, it’s dinner time, you can come downstairs to dine."

Celeste shook her head, "I’m not hungry, you all eat."

The beauties downstairs quickly learned Celeste didn’t come down to dine, and they mocked,

"A married woman lucky enough to enter King Hayden’s mansion, called down for dinner but gives attitudes pretending to be high and mighty!"

"If she doesn’t eat, we eat. Tell the cooks not to leave anything behind, let her starve at night."

Celeste continued designing, busy sorting out the Reynolds family affairs, amassing a lot of work, busying deep into the night.

Deep in the night, Ethan returned, stood at the door letting the maid take off his shoes, "Where’s Miss Linden?"

"Miss Linden is upstairs, didn’t come out all day." The maid reported truthfully.

He raised his brows slightly, "Didn’t come out all day? She didn’t eat?"

"No, Miss Linden said she had no appetite."

"Prepare a private meal plan and chef for Miss Linden, tailor each meal to her preference, deliver it to her room."

The maid was stunned; she’d worked here so long, it was the first time she saw someone receive such honors.

By now, Ethan had already gone upstairs, pushed open Celeste’s room door.

At this moment, Celeste was sitting cross-legged on the soft carpet, slender white fingers holding a sketch pen, long black hair clipped behind her ear, cascading onto her delicate shoulders. She was wearing a long beige cardigan, head down immersed in design.

The room was lit with a dim lamp, casting warmth over her, time seemed serene.

Ethan reclined by the door observing her for a while, feeling as though all the hardships washed away. His lips involuntarily curled upwards, in great mood.

However, Celeste was busy designing, not noticing him coming in; Ethan had to walk in himself and close the door.

Ethan sat by Celeste’s side, his low voice carrying a hint of laughter, "What are you drawing, that you didn’t see me come in?"

Celeste’s attention was still on the design, not looking up, "Oh, King Hayden, you’re back?"

Was she brushing him off?

Ethan chuckled with a bit of anger, reached to hold her soft waist, "If it were other women, they’d try anything to serve me. But here you are, cold as ice, making me put effort to warm your cold attitude."
