Chapter 1434: I Won’t Get Divorced
Chapter 1434: I Won’t Get Divorced
Dominic Reynolds’s eyes narrowed, his face changing color. "Wife, you want to divorce me, why?"
Celeste Linden looked at him, "Dominic, let go. We won’t be happy together. I will only bring disaster and pain to you and your parents. Divorce me, so your lives can return to normal..."
"Have you already found out I have someone outside?" Dominic interrupted Celeste.
Celeste paused for a moment, then nodded honestly, "I know."
"When did you find out?"
"That day you came back from the bar, I smelled a woman’s perfume on your shirt, and I guessed it then."
Ha.
Dominic suddenly chuckled, "So how much do you know, do you know everything?"
"Yes, the girl outside is already pregnant with your child, isn’t she?"
Dominic put one hand on his hip, so angry he wanted to laugh, "So you knew all along. I was always afraid you’d find out and kept it from you these past days. But looking back now, it’s funny. You don’t care at all, not even a little bit."
Celeste frowned, "Dominic, don’t be like this, we..."
Dominic grasped Celeste’s shoulders, "Do you know what chills me the most? It’s your indifferent attitude. You are my wife, and I am your husband. Your husband cheated and even got another woman pregnant, yet you don’t react at all."
"I wish you could hit me or scold me now, make a scene like a shrew. At least that would prove you care about me, that you like me. Look at how ridiculous your reason for divorce is. You’re not divorcing because I cheated. You’re divorcing because you don’t want to drag me down. What a generous wife I have. Should I thank you for that?"
Celeste raised her elegant eyebrows. She knew what made Dominic feel disheartened, but after finding out about him and Flora Thatcher, she was just melancholic and sorrowful without feeling jealous.
She couldn’t control her heart, and she understood she didn’t love Dominic.
"Dominic, divorcing is for your own good. Look at you, you’ve become a different person. If it goes on like this, you’ll be ruined..."
"Enough, stop it!" Dominic interrupted Celeste. "I won’t divorce. Your reasons are not enough for me to divorce you. Forget about it."
After saying that, Dominic left.
Celeste, "..."
...
Celeste resumed her work and began designing clothes when a noise came from downstairs, as if an unexpected visitor had arrived.
Celeste went out and saw Flora Thatcher downstairs.
Flora Thatcher was wearing a loose dress. She was a young and pretty girl. "Where is Mrs. Reynolds? I need to see Mrs. Reynolds!"
The maid stopped her, "Miss, who are you? You cannot force your way in, this is trespassing."
"I need to see Mrs. Reynolds. I have something important to tell her."
"But..."
The commotion quickly attracted the attention of the Reynolds’ parents, who came out. "Young lady, who are you looking for? What do you need?"
Flora was quick-witted. Seeing the Reynolds’ parents, she rushed over with a pitiful expression, "Uncle, Aunt, you must help me. President Reynolds is searching everywhere for me. He’s trying to catch me."
The Reynolds’ parents were shocked, "Miss, what’s our son doing trying to catch you for?"
"Because, I’m pregnant," Flora placed her hand on her belly, "Uncle, Aunt, I’m carrying President Reynolds’s child. He’s going to be a father, and you’ll be grandparents!"
What?
The Reynolds’ parents couldn’t believe their ears. Their son must have cheated, and now the woman outside was pregnant and at their doorstep.
"Miss, we don’t know who you are, but we have a daughter-in-law. Please leave quickly."
"Uncle, Aunt, I can’t leave. President Reynolds wants to take me to the hospital to have the child removed. Uncle, Aunt, this is your Reynolds family’s flesh and blood, your grandson. Don’t you want a grandchild? This little life is innocent." Flora pleaded bitterly.
The Reynolds’ parents hesitated quickly, looking at Flora’s belly with reluctance. Flora was right; this was their flesh and blood.
At this moment, the maid saw Celeste at the stairs, "Ma’am, look at the situation now..."
The Reynolds’ parents were shocked, "Angel, this young woman suddenly barged in claiming to look for you, and she said... said..."
Celeste, "Dad, Mom, I’m already aware of this matter."
"You know? So what are you going to do? Our family only recognizes you as the daughter-in-law, and we truly treat you as a daughter. This matter is Dominic’s fault, he needs to be punished properly. Whatever you do, we’ll support you, but... but this child in her stomach..." The Reynolds’ parents began to waver.
Celeste understood, the Reynolds’ parents wanted to keep the child.
They had urged for a child countless times, but she never agreed. Now, a grandson suddenly fell from the sky and landed at their door. They wanted to keep the grandchild.
Celeste smiled gently, "Dad, Mom, I can’t make this decision. Let her stay here for now and wait for Dominic to handle it when he returns."
...
Celeste was working on design sketches when Dominic returned at night, causing a commotion downstairs.
Dominic wanted to catch Flora, "Flora, stop hiding. Even if you give birth to the child in your belly, I won’t want it. I only want the child my wife gives me."
Flora immediately hid behind the Reynolds’ parents, "Uncle, Aunt, the child in my belly is so pitiful. He’s already being rejected by his own father before even being born. His father wants to kill him. Please, Grandpa, Grandma, save him."
The Reynolds’ parents blocked the angry Dominic, "Dominic, this is the mess you’ve made. Who else do you have to blame but yourself for not controlling yourself?"
"Aren’t I here to clean it up now?"
"Your idea of cleaning up is to kill your own child? This child is your first. You’re not young anymore; it’s about time you became a father," the Reynolds’ parents spoke in hushed voices.
Dominic frowned, "Dad, Mom, have you forgotten about angel? What about her if you want Flora’s child?"
"We’ve told angel many times, hoping she’d give you a child while she’s young, but she never agreed. We can see angel doesn’t want children."
"Yes, Dominic, we’re becoming very old. Be honest, doesn’t angel want kids? Now there’s this trend of being a DINK family, but our Reynolds family can’t do that."
"Angel is always very generous, Dominic. You should talk to angel about keeping this child."
